Pearls Before Swine

Witnessing one on one, or one on two, or three, and all are openly hostile? Do not present the Gospel. The seed will be wasted on stony ground, or worse... The "birds of the air," and all that. Another example of casting ones pearls before swine could also be construed as refusing someone who shows no evidence of salvation to partake of Holy Communion, especially since the wine and bread are symbols of the Holy blood and flesh of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I would say presenting the Gospel to openly hostle people would be casting ones pearls before swine-- there are of course exceptions. For example; while witnessing publicly to a crowd, where a few are heckling and mocking. To NOT present the Gospel in such an instance is not a smart move as there are other people in the crowd who ARE listening. Besides which, we are only commanded to preach the Gospel... The Holy Spirit will do the rest, for God has promised, His word will not return void.
