Dear Rob & Rae Marie, Truly God needs no permission to do what He wants in this world but when it becomes a matter of individual/personal involvement then the Bible is very clear about us giving Him permission to do so. Revelation 3:20 says "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with Me". Obviously He is looking for our permission.

God is sovereign. No question about that. But there was a situation in the Bible where our Lord Jesus could not do any miracle because of the unbelief of the people and Jesus had to leave the place marvelling at the unbelief of these people. In effect I would understand that as the people not allowing God to work his miracles.
