Corporal Punishment OK Teenager

If your father is unable to communicate with you without being physically abusive there's something wrong with him. Tell him that you will call Child Protective Services if he lays a hand on you.

Is Anger A Sin

I believe that anger can be used as something that is both active and passive. One being that in the bible when Joseph was accused of molesting Potiphars wife. It is said that the Egyptian nobleman burned with anger (Gen. 39:19). On the other hand Potiphars wife appears to portary herself as an innocent victim. She came to Joseph day after day and when he refused and fled from her he left his cloak and falsly accused Joesph of traying to make sport of her. No outbursts or wild tantrums on her part. She manipulated life to get what she wanted. She demonstrated a passive form of anger. Is it sin? Such is the case that one can become manipulative with anger at the same time being silent and deviant.

Big Name Evangelists

Why do you want to know what an evangelist makes? Do you mean televangelists? They make a lot of money. Let them make whatever salary they want to make. If it is too much, they will answer to God. They should not be answerable to me or anyone else unless you want everyone to be answerable to all, including yourself. If you don't believe in a particular evangelist, don't support him. If we can't trust them with money, why trust them with souls...or with the Word of God?

Biggest False Doctrine Ever

The doubters of Jesus being eternally God are forced into 2 bizarre dilemmas. Paul clearly teaches Jesus is the Creator: "by him...through him and for him all things were created." (Col 1:16) If Jesus is himself a creature then God the Father created a creature to be the creator. Most non-Trinitarians believe Jesus was an angel before being Jesus. Therefore the creator is actually an angel. How pagan!

Second, since Jesus the Son is created, Almighty God only acquired his Fatherhood when he created Jesus and thus the Father is not eternally the Father.

Are these biblical doctrines or of men?

Do You Go To Church Of Christ

Im a member of the Church of Christ. What would you like to know?

Who Is Kim Clement

I've been in pretty close contact with Kim for years (since 1992?). The one thing you can say about him is that his heart's desire is to encourage every believer in Jesus to not give up in the face of difficulty. He ministers to a lot of people who don't (yet) fit into the typical church, so his language often dosen't sound like the way bible believers typically talk. But I'm confident he is directing his hearers to put away sin, resist the devil and walk in obedience to Christ. Kim takes chances, sometimes he misses, and he is not ashamed to admit it. I wish every believer would take more chances, that is to say, walk with dangerous and risky faith--like Kim.

Is Harold Camping Correct

As far as Camping proclaiming that we should leave the church:

Hebrews 10:25 - Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some [is], but exhorting [one another]: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Testify Before Your Baptism

When I studied all 91 scriptures regarding baptism (search for 91 witnesses) I didn't see any direct evidence that a testimony MUST be given. It can be inferred however from the fact that those baptised must first believe. But replying 'yes' to the questions such as "have you repented of your sins?" etc that the baptiser should ask will be enough testimony in itself if you are slightly shy (as of course most new believers are in some way). But also follow the advice of those saying the testimony would be a blessing - Revelation 12v11 Overcome ... by testimony.

Is Harold Camping Correct

Interesting blog. I must submit that the verses used in Mark 13 are NOT speaking of time. Someone referred to the word "of" in a scoffing way, saying this cannot disqualify time.. indeed it does. "OF" as it is used here is from the Greek root-word "peri" which ABSOLUTELY means "experience", or "likened unto."
Many folks bombarding Augustine in this blog are giving evidence of them not being serious Bible students. It is true Christ is God himself, He appointed the day. To truly think Christ doesn't know the timing, is to be fooling yourself and calling God a liar. Christ spoke these words before Calvary, having not yet experienced God's wrath.

Do End Times Scare You

Fascinating blog. I have seen a few points about the different views of the timing of the rapture. The idea of pre-tribulational rapture has always been one of the most perplexing teachings I have ever known.

This is because it is absolutely is NOT taught in the Bible ANYWHERE or in ANY WAY. The Bible does abundantly teach that the rapture is AFTER the tribulation, and with judgment day right on it's heels.

I would be quite grateful to read a few posts where someone can show (from the Bible) a pre-trib rapture. Fact is, no one can, because it is simply not there. May the Lord bless.

Is Mystery Babylon America

Indeed Mystery Babylon is referring to a church. But which church?

1Pe 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the HOUSE OF GOD... (what is the house of God?)

1Tim 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the HOUSE OF GOD, which is THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD...

Clearly it is the external church that the living God Himself established to be the keepers and spreaders of His Word. I'm afraid it is not just 1 church, it is ALL churches.

Caught My Husband Cheating

Well, if you stay you're telling him it's ok. YES as a Christian you need to do what's best for the children, but what's it to you when you have to come home to a cheater? Shoot, I'd leave his butt on the curb and take the children. Make him pay child support and move on.

Stay Away From Bad Christians

I am a 44 year old single father of 2.I have been in Christianity most of My life.I have seen quite a bit.You have to very carefully define "bad christian".I credit what Jesus says higher than St.Paul. "there are none righteous no not one...".All 12 disciples betrayed Christ.Matt26:56.Satan goes to church,He sits on the front pew,the closer you focus you're mind on God the more evil spirits seem to work on You.Read Job.Read the Lords prayer...lead us not into temptation. You also must define sin.Look at the diet of most western Christians, look at the way Christian young women dress,make-up,BABYLON.Look at Dovid He screwed up BIG TIME.Only You and God know how hard You're trying. Thanks.

Preachers Using Movie Clips

Okay - so if I go with the thinking of many posters here - we should probably not sing hymns or songs in church either. These songs are composed by "Man" - his thoughts put to verse, and many of the old hymns were set to the tune of old standards and tavern songs of the day.

Saying Pastors should only draw inspiration from Scripture is very limiting. Yes, the message and point should be scripturally solid, but by pulling from many sources for commentary - the point can be given culturally relevant application for even unbelievers to identify with, thus helping them to see the truth that scripture holds.

Baptism Guarantees Salvation

God created us to be in relationship with Him. Our sin broke the relationship. The penalty for that siin is death. God chose to pay that penalty for us by having his Son die in our place. If we believe that Jesus died for us personally we are saved, and have eternal life with him. If we reject Jesus's death as payment for our sin, we live eternally separated from God. The "guarantee" is this: Ephesians 1:13 "And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are Gods possession to the praise of his glory. "

Preachers Using Movie Clips

I might remind you that "The Passion Of The Christ" is rated "R" so I guess the church should never show that movie or use any clips from it!

There is NO LIMIT on what we can use to reach lost people for Christ. We should use things in our culture, our imagination, our creativity, and anything else our mind and heart can conceive of to reach people with the message of Jesus Christ.

Jesus told stories - some true, some just examples, to drive his point home. He pointed to trees, people, rocks, rivers - everything around him to help tell people about His Father. Lets do the same.

Corporal Punishment OK Teenager

I think that your father has every right to apply corporal punishment because you know that you are doing wrong yet you still get into trouble. I am also a christian and in the bible it is okay for your parent to apply corporal punishment when you step out of line. So yes it is okay for your father to turn to corporal punishment if you hahve been getting in trouble. Maybe you won't get in trouuble.

Why Do You Believe In Jesus

It's simple why I believe. The historical facts testify to his life. The New Testament has proven to be historically accurate, regardless of the skeptical arguments. We see clear cut signs pointing to his second coming, proving he's been here before. So history and prophecy, for the truly openminded person, point to his existence and divinity.
