Can We Trust The Bible

The standard for accurate literature is Homer's Illiad which we have a few parts of many editions that have been combined to form one copy which is at least 500 years after the original. The oldest copies of the epistle and the gospels are less than 100 years old and are mostly complete editions. We also have the Dead Sea Scrolls which has preserved the OT from the time of the Bible just for today. False gospels like the gospel of Judas, Mary, etc which have been recently found were written in 300 AD and do not follow the main points of the other books in thought or style. Paul's letters were not discarded in the past like the false gospels were but spread around to different churchs preserving the knowledge and context of the books.

The numbers in the Bible are amazing and open up an entire new world of meaning. here is a few. 3 represents God aka the trinity 4 is the earth - think four corners of the earth 7 completion - which is 3+4 which is God and Earth together 6 is man number imperfection- because it is close to 7 but not quite 12 which is 3*4 number of tribes and apostles 40 represents large value similar to our expression "there were a 100 people at some event" 10 the number of challenge - think 10 commandments, 10 virgins, 10 lepers

Christians Leisure Time
	yes it is good to do secular stuff because when you do do secular stuff you bring the light of christ into that secular environment. Otherwise you will only be in your holy huddles. Some wisdom needs to be applied of course, for example if losing a game makes you have overly angry sports are not your best activities.

Pray To Stop Smoking
	Don't try quitting, start training to quit. You need to find the triggers (stress, hard days work, certain friends, etc). Smoking can be a solution to those problems above, the training is to replace the bad solution with a better solution with the ultimate being freedom in Christ. God Bless

Christians Leisure Time

Jesus is the light of the world a city on a hill cannot be hidden, the darkness did not understand the light (light attacks darkness and darkness must flee light). As christians we have and are the image of Christ to the world. How beautiful the feet that spread the light (good news) to the world. Jesus says it this way in John 17: 15-18. They (christians) are not of this world ... as You (God Father) sent me ... so I (Jesus) sent them into the world.

Why Did God Take A Body

The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23) thus something has to die for sin, either the sinner or a blameless sacrifice. Also only a higher lifeform can save a lower lifeform (Hebrews). Because we are made in the image of God (Gen. Ch 1, able to love) only a blameless image of God can sacrifice for an image of God. He had to become like us so that we would have the godly sorrow and be declared guilty of the murder of his Son (see Parable of the Wicked Tenants Luke 20:9) but he overcame such evil with love that he can declare "no greater love than to lay down ones life for his friends" (John 15:13) for if he did not love us we would not know him and rest in his grace.
