Both Had An Affair

Adultery is not an option for Christians. However, I have found that people do what THEY want to do a lot. Not a sign of a Christian.
---KarenD on 11/1/12

True, but many Christians actually DO commit Adultery without even being aware of it. I don't know if they're in "Denial", or just "Ignorant", about what the Bible says.

How you ask? Because of marriages where a "Previous" Marriage, and Divorce, are involved. Jesus says so in the Bible.

Some churches have MOST of their members involved in: Affairs, Divorce, Remarriage, etc.

Paul sure knew what he was saying when he wrote that there IS "Sexual Immorality Among YOU". The Christian church.

Copyright Laws and Fair Use have gotten more complex than ever before.

I've run into these issues with many types of media: Music, Videos, Printed Articles, Computer Software, etc.

I've learned that my own knowledge of all the laws is an EVOLVING process. Just like learning about the Bible is a continuing process.

I've been told by other people that Copyrighted material shouldn't even be used on a home-made video. I once used a lot of Christian music along with some missions trip videos.

If anyone complains to me, I'll just explain that I'm still learning about Copyright limits and such.

The Bible says we MUST forgive others and their faults. Including my being ignorant of Copyright issues.

World Ends This December

Any day could be your last.
---Jed on 7/27/12

I think that it's better to realize that God doesn't promise ANYONE another day and you'd best prepare for your last day.

That last day might be 12/21/2012. Or, it could be the day afterwards. Possibly, even today.

Many newspapers have daily obituary's of people who have died. I hope that they were prepared for their LAST day here on planet Earth!

Stop Cigs, Gambling Drinking

You will never be delivered until you confess your sin, take responsibility for it, and repent.
---Jed on 7/2/12

Amen!

I remember being at a Bible study. I was falling asleep.

What really woke me up was the Bible study leader repeating the final line of Jimmy Buffet's 1977 song "Margaritaville". In a nice, Biblical way:

"But I Know, It's My Own Dumb Fault"

Can Forgiving Hurt

Forgiveness is for our own soul. So that we can move forward.
---Mark_V. on 6/23/12

You've defined FORGIVENESS in as few words as possible. You get an A+ for your work!

Forgiving others -- no matter How, or How Badly, they have Hurt/Offended us -- is vital to our OWN health.

I once thought that Jesus was rather foolish in telling us -- in the Bible -- to:

Love Your Enemies
Forgive Those Who Have Hurt You
Pray For Your Enemies

Actually, Jesus knew exactly what he was saying. And it is all for OUR OWN good too. Spiritually, Physically, Mentally, Emotionally, etc.

Forgiveness is necessary EVERYWHERE: Churches, Families, and the Workplace.

Can Forgiving Hurt

I believe when someone hurts you real bad, and you forgive them, the subject should never come out again with her. If we bring it up, that shows we have not forgiven them.
---Mark_V. on 6/23/12

Here is my example:

A church that I used to attend treated me like [expletive]. The Pastor NEVER apologized or asked me to forgive her church.

Recently, I received a personal letter from the Pastor asking for MONEY. To be used for a foreign missions trip. I was reminded of my bad treatment by the Pastor's church and her letter quickly hit the waste basket.

I wouldn't say that I haven't forgiven the Pastor's church. Just that I don't trust that Pastor anymore. There is a difference between FORGIVENESS and TRUST!

Revelation For Churches Today

SEAL 3, Global economic collapse and famine, will send the world into political chaos. This began in 2008.
---lutherist on 6/21/12

One reason that I've left several churches is that they ALL preached a "Prosperity Movement" gospel. EVERYONE can be rich. The key is to trust GOD for those blessings.

The message that I got was that my own SIN is the reason for my not being a Millionaire or Hollywood success story. I'm still trying to uncover that SIN.

I get the feeling that most churches -- Catholic, Protestant, Charismatic, etc. -- don't get the bigger picture here. As it is written in the Bible.

You answered things well. You would make a good End-Times Teacher.

Can Forgiving Hurt

I had the same thing happen to me except I lent money to someone I worked with.
---anon on 6/22/12

Thanks for sharing your experience. It is good to know that I'm not the only one who has had problems with lending money to friends.

The Bible says that we should "Rejoice In All Things". Good and Bad. Bad experiences might be difficult, but they are the best way for us to learn things.

I'm now WISER and can say NO to others who ask to borrow money from me. No guilt when I advise them to contact their local bank. Sure, they get steaming mad, but that is THEIR problem, not mine!

Can Forgiving Hurt

I have experienced the Pain involved in forgiving someone else.

In my case, it involved several individuals who borrowed money from me. This included people that I believed that I could TRUST to repay me: A Pastor, A Bible College Student, and Church Friends.

Well, in all cases, our friendship went sour. Yet, I still had the responsibility to forgive them. Completely and without any lingering Bitterness or Grudges. This was the EASY part.

The HARD, and PAINFULL, part was being told that my forgiving should also involve trusting them again. Hmmm. I don't agree there.

I've learned to NEVER again put myself in the risky job of being a money lender.

Instead, I tell them to visit their local bank. Sorry!

Tithing Is Old Testament Law

Philippians 2:14

I must repent for complaining about Tithing. That was an OT commandment for supporting the Jewish Temples. Today, Christians aren't living under that LEGALISM any longer. And few Christian Churches qualify as Jewish Temples either.

2 Corinthians 9:7

We are now living under GRACE and are "Free" to give as we want. You can continue the OT ways of Tithing. There are other ways of giving besides Money too. As much, or as little, as your heart leads you to give. You'll be blessed accordingly.

What I have trouble with is that many modern Churches don't seem to understand what I just wrote. I just tell them to "Read Your Bible" and see for yourself!

Tithing Is Old Testament Law

Both churches, and many charities, claim to be helping people with your "Generous" donations. That might be 10% of your earnings or $10. Whatever. I've learned that you need to be careful about who receives your donations.

Sure, a tiny fraction of your donations might be going to pay overseas missions workers, stock food shelves, etc.

Yet, I've discovered that the majority of your donations goes to "Line The Pockets" of the Business owners. Yes, Charities and Churchers are Businesses. Non-Profit ones.

My answer to the blog question is that Tithing is a way for Churches to manipulate, or coerce, attendees to fork over the $$$.

It's either that, or YOU are being unfaithful. Uh, Oh!

Is Satan A Fallen Angel

Yes!

Satan is the FALLEN Angel Lucifer.

Lucifer was God's worship leader in heaven. That wasn't enough to keep Lucifer happy. He decided to become EVIL and rebel against HOLY God.

God CAN'T tolerate sin or rebellion. Therefore, Lucifer was forcefully expelled from Heaven and confined to planet Earth.

The Earth became, and still is, Satan's territory. God created people to "Live For Him" and win the Earth back.

Ever since the time of Adam and Eve, people have had a major choice to make: (1) Live For God or (2) Live For The Fallen Angel Lucifer aka Satan.

Personally, I can't understand WHY anyone would want to Live For Satan, but the choice is their own.

Churches Are Silent On Sin

Thanks for everyone's reply to my question.

Still, I'm concerned about how much people's sinful living ends up costing. EVERYONE is affected to some degree.

Some people might be responsible for the consequences of their own sin. Examples: Having to pay Child Support, Alimony, or Restitution, Serving Time In Jail or Community Service.

Most of us pay taxes which are used to fund programs for raising all the children that are born without Fathers to support them. And taxes pay for Jails too. They are not FREE!

I believe that churches are making a very expensive mistake by NOT teaching people that sinful living is NOT pleasing to God and hurts EVERYONE.

Churches Are Silent On Sin

Since now you have more words, would you be more specific on what you find objectionable in the movie?
---Cluny on 5/30/12

The movie characters are living together -- unmarried -- and having kids out-of-wedlock. Their wedding keeps getting postponed for many reasons.

None of this stuff is illegal, but isn't pleasing to God.

The hurt of these things shows up later in: Divorces, Child Custody Fights, Angry Parents, etc.

And life in these circumstances is tough. Several of my own cousins lived though them. The children involved are now adults, but many resent their childhoods. And the cycle of sin will likely repeat itself.

Are Baptists A Cult

Baptists can be as starkly different as Rush Limbaugh and Nancy Pelosi.
---Jed on 5/29/12

Great Analogy!

I have experienced just what you described. Some Baptist churches have treated me as if EVERYTHING in my life was "Bad" in some way. Other Baptist churches didn't seem to even notice that I was present in their church.

I just don't know what to think about Baptist churches.

Blasphemy Of The Holy Spirit

Sag...Could you please give a scripture that speaks of that "gift of prosperity" because I can't find it. Thanks.
---KarenD on 5/28/12

3 John 1:2 -- "Beloved, I Pray That You May Prosper In All Things . . . "

Psalm 23:1 -- "The Lord Is My Shepherd, I Shall Not Want"

1 Timothy 6:17 -- ". . . The Living God . . . Gives Us Richly All Things To Enjoy"

I believe that it all comes down to the SKILLS that God gives a person.

Prosperity involves: (1) Good Money Management, Saving, Investing, etc. (2) Good Time Management. (3) Good "People Skills" for making money-making deals (4) Other skills.

Maybe I just don't have the SKILLS to become Prosperous.

Blasphemy Of The Holy Spirit

3 John 1:2 -- "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth"

I've actually gotten into trouble discussing the very things that KarenD asked about.

My contribution to a Bible study discussion was that God DECIDES whom the Holy Spirit delivers the gift of Healing to. Same goes for whom the Holy Spirit delivers the gift of Prosperity to. And so on for ALL Spiritual Gifts.

Some of the other participants believed that some gifts of the are not working today and that what I said was blasphemy. Nope!

God decides "who gets what gifts". And then we decide whether to put those gifts to use or let those gifts stay dormant within us.
