Converts To Judaism Saved

Cluny,
can you clarify your question?

Are you speaking of a Christian in the sense of one having been born again? I take this as past tense

When you ask "can that person be saved?"....do you mean currently saved, or saved in the future?

define saved?

Single Dads Are Viewed

Single moms are treated as widows, while single dads aren't treated at all.

just this past Sunday, my pastor was teaching on fellowship, helping each other, etc

Three times he mentioned single moms, how it would be nice if someone would paint their house, fix their car, play catch with their kids.

but not even a mention that it would be nice for someone to come wash my dishes, or do my laundry, or plan a birthday party for my son

Single dad, or single mom (mum), denotes who does the majority of raising the child(ren)

I have two kids, by two different ex-wives. The first one was raised by his mom - even though I gave child support, had regular weekends, etc.

I was not considered a single dad, even by myself.

my younger one is with me primarily, sees his mom sometimes. I am a single dad now. And his mom was not a single mom before she remarried

Are All Christians The Same

Yes James I would choose not to argue this. But nether can I let it be stated and not object.
---Samuelbb7 on 8/4/14

I don't object to arguing about it, refuting it, it whatever someone wants to call it.

But we should not be offended by any particular view of God on philosophical or emotional grounds.

If scripture says God is a puppeteer, ok.

If scripture says that God is a man who lives on planet Kolob, ok.

If scripture says that God is going to send everyone to hell, ok.

So what if we're offended by a view of God? If that view is the truth, so be it.

So argue from the book of truth, not a wound up tizzy.

Are All Christians The Same

To me this doctrine does not portray a loving caring GOD.---Samuelbb7 on 8/3/14

So what ?? Who cares if the doctrine portrays God in a certain light?

That's one of the reasons I don't like the Calvinist/Arminian debate, because both sides have turned into a philosophical tit-for-tat.

What do the scriptures teach ?? That should be the issue.

Limited Atonement fails one MAJOR biblical point:

ALL men will be raised physically. Some to eternal life, and some to eternal judgment.

Jesus died not only to restore the spirit world, but the material world, including the physical bodies of unbelievers.

Why Did Paul Swim

Pretty good. Believe it or not, I am married now to a wonderful woman who truly loves the Lord and me.
---aka on 7/27/14

that's awesome, brother. I saw a while back that you got "mingled"

didn't know you hit it out of the park

I'm still waiting for one who doesn't love money, possessions and social status

Types of Baptisms

Kathr, good stuff.

"buried" in the water, "raised" out of the water.

Just like Christ was "buried" in the tomb, and raised out of the tomb.

RitaH,
it could be that things in the U.K. are different from here in the states...

Single dads are much more common than 20 years ago. I am a single dad, been one since my son was 6 months old.

here in the states, it has become easier to abandon a child.

Look up "Safe Haven Law"

Types of Baptisms

Some, such as hyper-Dispensationalists, reject water baptism altogether, citing Ephesians 4:5 "One Baptism"

Others, such as Landmarkists, reject spirit baptism altogether, citing Ephesians 4:5 "One Baptism"

Suppose Paul might have had a different "immersion" in mind?

Why Did Paul Swim

"If was just about money. Why did Jesus say no weapon formed against you will prosper?....
"
---Bryan on 7/17/14

Your question is like asking "If cats climb trees, why does your car run on gasoline?

It doesn't even make sense.

It IS about money. Did you not read the verses I quoted? The context is clear. Don't butcher the word of God you claim to hold in high regard

And you have to ask "if" ???

Second, Isaiah 54 is about the FUTURE of Israel. What kind of weapons do you see in Philippians 4 ??

There aren't any. Because Paul was talking about MONEY

Why Did Paul Swim

"and we did not Complain.

I like it."

---aka on 7/16/14

Thanks, brother. Contentment in Christ....unbeatable

BTW, been a while since we've hollered at each other. How have you been?

Why Did Paul Swim

Phil 4:

10 you have revived your [financial] concern for me, but you lacked opportunity

11 Not that I speak from [material] want

12 I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, abundance and suffering need

13 I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength

14 Nevertheless, you have done well to share [money] with me in my affliction

16 I am amply supplied, having received [the money] you sent

17 Not that I seek the gift itself....

Context:
Thanks for the money. But whether I get it or not, I have learned contentment in every financial situation, through Christ

Confusion In Churches

By rigidly following this thinking, Romans was written "to all who are beloved of God in Rome," not to us, and Corinthians was written to those at Corinth, and Timothy to Timothy, and so on.
---Rod4Him on 7/12/14

Good stuff.

I have tried to reason in this fashion before, and it falls on deaf ears.

Why Did Paul Swim

When Paul said he could do all things through Christ, it was in the context of money.

The church at Philippi had already given to him. This is the "good work" that God began in them, which would be carried to completion (1:5-6)

Paul was essentially telling them that whether or not they were able to give, he would find his contentment in Christ.

this is not an enchantment to win football games, or lift heavy boulders, or perform a tracheotomy.

Confusion In Churches

If works of faith in Jesus Christ, are not required to receive Eternal Life, why would Paul say in (Romans 2:6-7), that Eternal Life is a reward for doing good?
---David on 7/6/14

If you read carefully Romans 1-4, Paul is flowing from bad news to good news.

God does reward those who by doing good seek glory. Everyone - Being a Jew counts for nothing anymore (ch. 2)

Therein lies the rub - we've all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (ch. 3)

The solution is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (ch. 4)

Then we are returned to our state of righteousness, whereby we can share in Christ's glory, at the renewal of all things (8:14-30, see Matt 19:28-29)

Do You Own A Bible

I rarely use the KJV, but it is in my parallel bible along with NIV, NASB and Amplified.

I also occasionally reference the ESV.

But what I use most are the NASB, and I have an interlinear New Testament with NRSV margin, which is excellent.

Just yesterday, I received an Apostolic Polyglot interlinear Septuagint + New Testament, so I have both testaments in Greek.

I teach a children's Sunday School class, and have chosen a One Year Bible for children (NLT) for our curriculum.

Confusion In Churches

David, it is clear to me James says the faithful, who follow Jesus their Saviour, will prove their faith is real by the good works they willingly do. Conversely James says those who claim to have faith, but have no works will not be saved.
---Warwick on 7/6/14

James said no such thing as anyone proving their faith is real.

He said they prove their faith is mature. Big difference.

verses 2:12 and 3:1 place his words squarely in the context if the Judgment Seat of Christ, where our works will be tested by fire to determine rewards for faithfulness

In Love With A Minor

Micha9344 has the only reply that appeals to biblical truth.

I've said it before, that our society would have Joseph imprisoned for being a perverted pedophile. But God apparently had no problem with a 30+ year old man being married to a 13 year old woman

Yes, woman. Not a little girl.

Even as close as 80 years ago, women would marry at 13-14 years old, many times to men in their 30s.

It is simply an unbiblical, societal whim to think there is something inherently wrong with this situation

....what we believe, becomes the measure of Truth....greater than the truth taught in the Bible....we seek out those few verses
---David on 5/24/14

exactly right

What I believe Trey is saying is,
that people read the Bible about predestination, but reject it....They rather stand for what they believe...

---Luke

Yes. Some reject predestination, building a false doctrine.

But those who believe God has predestined some to go to heaven, have taken scriptures out of context and built a false doctrine, too.

Both accuse each other of building a false doctrine, and both are correct

Pot, meet kettle
