Is Sound Doctrine Important
learner2 5/21..., kathr4453, barb 5/24:
learner2: 2Timothy 2:19, Hebrews 5:11-14, 6:1-2 seven principles, 1Peter 2:1-3.
kathr: In Philippians 3:7-8, The Apostle was referring to his lineage, his previous false Phariseeism (works righteousness), and perhaps all that he lost when he became a Believer. Paul though relied on his past theological training in order to write Romans and Hebrews.
barb: Please read Luke 6:39-40 as it concerns the roll(s) of teacher and student. Also, Jewish lads were obligated to memorize, read, copy from, and understand at minimum the Torah. The disciples had at least the equivalence of a two year university degree.

Is Sound Doctrine Important
learner2: It means uncorrupt instruction as compared to 2Timothy 2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies...
Steveng: How would you then know what the loving thing to do is?

How To Train A Minister
Sorry: 1Timothy 4:16, 2Timothy 4:3.
Bill: "An approved pastor, then, is our example of how God's love makes all of us "blameless". Are you making reference to Christian Perfectionism, or are you only saying that an Elder is to be both "apt to teach" and to be an example to the younger *1. Also, "So, seminary can not do this". How might you expect a Bishop to learn correct theology *2?
*1 Romans 7:24-25, 1John 1:8 Simul Justus et Peccator.
*2 Ephesians 4:11-16, 2Timothy 2:23-26, Titus 1:9, Hebrews 4:12, 5:12-14.

Oil Flowed From Hands
Hmm! Since 'mike' neither bothered to give us more information initially, nor responded when asked to do so... Perhaps, this is Troll mike, the oil is under the bridge slime, and ministering means - bothering people on the christianet bridge.
Please consider sticking around next time, you may get some good information on the Lord. Proverbs 18:10, Isaiah 1:16-20, Romans 12:17-18.

Favorite Bible Verse
John 19:30, "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."
Matthew 20:28, John 10:15-18, 1Timothy 2:5-6, Hebrews 2:9-10, 1John 2:1-2.

Oil Flowed From Hands
Are you a Christian? If so, what is the purpose of this phenomenon? In what way is Jesus glorified (it would never be by exalting a preacher)? What genuine miracle(s) occurred (euphoria, fits, and hot flashes don't count)?
If this is similar to stigmata: ...Fugue state - you misinterpret and misremember putting oil on your hands / a false memory of an event that never happened / a false miracle / a parlor trick / you confuse sweat for oil. Exodus 7:11-12, 22, 8:7, Matthew 7:21-23, 24:24, 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12, Revelations 13:11-17, 16:13-14, 19:20.

Church of Christ A Good Church
There are several groups in the 'Restoration Movement'. Some are cults, several are quite liberal, but most are traditionalists. One unorthodox view is that one becomes a Christian at Baptism. Most congregations have a unique subordinate view of the Trinity that diminishes the role of the Holy Spirit to working through the Word only. I find many of the theological proofs that they offer are based on cherry picking, eisegesis, and in some cases outright deception. The C.O.C. should be considered as semi-Pelagianists, considering the emphasis they place on works (verses grace), and in their belief that a person can lose salvation. 1Timothy 1:5-7, 2Timothy 2:14-16.

Holier Christians Possible
Simul justus et peccator.
If someone says that we need to grow in Christ - that's biblical. But if these are the same people that say Matthew 22:37 is attainable in this life - that's not going to happen.
If good works are a product of our new nature, that's true. If works are said to produce righteousness - that's false.
If we agree with Romans 3:23-24 - we are looking towards the Lord. If our standard is a Wesleyan/Holiness second work of grace, or a Keswickian second blessing - that's just introspection.
Paul had to correct both legalism and antinomianism in Ephesians, Galatians and Romans. Matthew 9:17-19, Romans 12:1-2, 1Corinthians 2:6-3:3, Galatians 5:13-26, Philippians 3:12-14, 2Timothy 1:7-9, Hebrews 5:11-6:20, 9:14.

She Speaks In Tongues
Debbie: The United Pentecostal Church uses the term Apostolic. They are a Unitarian cult that believes one has to be baptized in their Church using the name of Jesus (only) to be saved.
The Apostolic Church is a Trinitarian Church that would seem to be Pentecostal Methodist.
To be unequally yoked means that one of them is a Christian, and one is not. On prima facie, why would your son want to date a young women who seems to treat him with disdain? Deuteronomy 7:3, 22:10, 2Corinthians 6:14-17.

Christians That Evolved
When a person first puts confidence in the Lord, there is a considerable change in his, or her, thinking. However, many new Christians lack discernment, and need some time in order to change their 'world view'. Someone who purportedly calls on the name of the Lord, but neither grows, nor is interested in hearing the Lord, is not a Christian.
p.s. Belief in either of the theories (evolution or intelligent design) requires a particular bias, but a non biased examination of the natural evidence would rule out macro evolution.
Psalm 25:4-5, Proverbs 3:5-8, Matthew 7:21, John 8:43-47, 10:1-5, 25-30, chapter 15, 16:13-15, Romans 10:17, 2Timothy 3:16-17, James 1:5-8,19-26.

Is USA Christian
Sin, Romans 3:10-19 vs. 6:23.
If the Barna group surveys' are correct, only 38% of Americans would consider themselves to be Evangelicals. A further qualification based on their "9-point evangelicals" test (itself based on the National Association of Evangelicals Statement of Faith) reduces this number to 8%. For example, in one question concerned the belief in the Holy Spirit as "a living entity" - only a quarter of the respondents strongly agreed. ...Only my opinion, but based on the myriads of often foolish laws on the books, there are a dearth of God fearing Christians in most governments. Job 12:16, Isaiah 19:3, 1Corinthians 1:18-31, 3:19-20.

Did Noah Forshadow The Rapture
Yes, there are said to be types and shadows in the Old Testament that point to our need for a Savior, and to Christ's sacrifice on the cross. Yet, there are many people who misuse (eisegete) scripture. The story of Enoch tells us to have faith in God, to walk with Him (please Him), and that God will judge the ungodly, Genesis 5:24, Hebrews 11:5-6, Jude 14-15.
If one were to use the following verses, it would more likely point to God preserving His own in the midst of the Tribulation, rather than temporarily removing them from the Earth. Genesis 7:1-8:19, Matthew 24:4-51, 1Corinthians 9:9-12, 15:51-32, 1Thessalonians 4:16-17, 2Peter 1:19-20.

Are These False Teachers
An answer might be: Proverbs 3:34-35. One sign of a Believer is having reverence towards the Lord, even more so by a purported Bishop, Matthew 7:20-21. Also, participating in Syncretistic meetings would seem to be less 1John 1:5-7, and more Revelations 17.
As to Mary: Christianity teaches that God only deserves Glory, and that we being without our own merit, can be saved by having faith in Him only, and in His meritorious death on the cross. Promoting Mary as a sinless Advocate, Co-Redemptrix, and Mediatrix is outside the pale of Christianity, Isaiah 42:8.
The Unitarians, etc.: Considerable proof of the Trinity (hundreds of verses), has been given on these blogs, Romans 1:21-22, 1Timothy 4:1-2.

Slain In The Spirit
Alex: Please explain your question further. What do you believe concerning this phenomenon? From what I've seen in Charismatic meetings, very few people fall down under the impetus of the Holy Spirit - the rest are falling either due to a carnal response, or due to a demonic manifestation. Any demonstration from God, would have to meet the Biblical test, and the person should show some positive Godly change(s) due to the experience. 1Corinthians chapters 2,12,13,14, 1Thessalonians 5:16-23, James 3:17-18, 1John4:1.

Are These False Teachers
learner2: ...Interesting non sequitur, but you may be missing the point. Here are some good verses to learn, Psalm 1, Proverbs 1:10, 12:26, 13:20, 14:6-9, Romans 1:18-32, 1Corinthians 15:33, 2Corinthians 10:3-5, 2Timothy 2:16.

Cain Fled To Nod
Cain was cursed, ..."a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth." Nod {aimless wandering} was named after him, and can be contrasted with Eden {delight}. Cain left both his parents company, and lost companionship with the Lord. Genesis 4:1-24

Married A Baby Christian

God, Family, Job!
1) Apologize, apologize, apologize! 2) Is there a mature Christian that you both would be comfortable talking to? 3) A marriage is more important than a Pastorate. 4) 1Corinthians 7:12-35. 5) Please, carefully consider the following verses re ministry *1. These verses should be useful to you as well *2.
*1: Psalm 78:72, Matthew 7:12, 20:25-28, Acts 20:28, 1Corinthians 4:1-2, Philippians 2:1-4, 1Timothy 3, 2Timothy 2:24-26, Titus 1:5-9, chapter 2, James 1:19-20, chapter 3, 1Peter 4:8-10, 5:1-10.
*2: Ephesians 5:25-29, 31, 33, Colossians 3:19, 1Timothy 5:8, 1Peter 3:7.
