Pray For President Trump
It's a fact during the Reagan administration IN ORDER to raise money for arms is when crack cocaine became very big in the cities
---kathr4453 on 5/23/17

A totally discredited conspiracy theory.

Discredited by PBS FrontLine reporter Craig Delaval "Cocaine Conspiracy Theories & the C.I.A in Central America" and many other stories in WAPO & NYT.

There was no connection to the CIA and drug trafficking.

While no administration is perfect, I am proud that I voted for the Reagan & Bush administration. They got us out of the grip of a dead economy and strengthened our influence abroad.

People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people.

That's like saying a Korean man and English woman will have a child who is 100% Korean and 100% English...the problem comes from not distinguishing between Jesus' Spirit and His body.
---James_L on 5/9/17

Your example is flawed. All three people are still of human being.

I think I understand what you are saying. Do you believe the Spirit of Jesus as having the God-being and the body of Jesus as having the human being?

I see this slightly different. I use Phil. 2:5-8 as my foundation. Jesus was already in the being of God, and during the Incarnation, the human being as added to Jesus, making Him both 100% human and 100% God.

I think for a blending to happen, you cease being the first to become the second.

Law That Christ Fulfilled
We are still under the old covenant as well as the new because all of God's covenants are eternal.
---Truthseeker on 5/8/17

I must disagree with this statement.

When the veil in the temple was torn top to bottom, God instituted Jesus blood, for the remission of sin.

In Jer 31, God establishes a new covenant, not like the old covenant when He was a husband to them, but in the new He will be their God, they will all know Him, and they will be His people.

In Acts 15, the Apostles do not require obedience for gentiles of old covenant dietary and ceremonial law.

In Heb. 10, it says Jesus takes away the first to establish the second. In Heb 8, it says the new covenant has made the first obsolete.

I noted already that I replied to Micha's assertion that I was treading close to Gnosticism...
---James on 5/5/17

I think your statement "Jesus is not 100% God, nor is He 100% man" is very disturbing to most here.

On the surface, it sounds heretical or anti-Christ.

Your statement (if I pick at it logically), says Jesus is not God and not man. Logic says, if Jesus is not 100% God, then Jesus is not really God at all. Something less than God, perhaps God-like or a demi-God.

The same logic applies to being a man.

But perhaps, you mean something different.

I think you need to explain your statement if you agree with John 1, Hebrews 2, and Romans 8.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father...
---john9346 on 5/4/17

Thank you for posting a portion of this creed. I believe it is the Nicene Creed, my personal favorite.

The statements made in the creed defend the theory of Hypostatic union, which was important and necessary to codify defend.

Jesus was conceived of two different beings, a human being - Mary, and a God-being - the Holy Spirit. This gave Jesus the ability to be both fully human, with all the frailties of flesh and sin, and the ability to be fully God, to give life, light, mercy, and truth.

How it was held together in a human body is a mystery of God.

the very Word of God, by which the world was created, is inside that once-frail body of flesh
---James_L on 5/3/17

I agree.

But you and John are missing something in the phrase of Jn. 1:14 "became flesh".

In Greek, the word "flesh" is sarx, while the word "human" is anthropos.

St. John could have said that the Word became human but he did not. Saying the Word became "flesh" indicates a different meaning.

In Scripture, flesh is characterized as weakness, even sinfulness.

I think St. John is saying that Jesus became what we are, including all the weakness and sinfulness.

St. Paul takes it even farther and says that Jesus became sin.

The word nature is simply used to identify Distinct Beahavior and functions.
---john9346 on 4/27/17

I think this definition does not go far enough.

To have the behavior and function of God would enable one to be considered to be "godlike" without being truly God. Our Watch Tower friends consider Jesus to be "godlike" yet do not consider Jesus to be fully God.

I rather like the words "essence" and "being" with "being" my most favorite way of describing the relationship of Jesus to the Father.

Just as you and I are of the same being, that is, human being, Jesus and the Father are of the same being, God.

Bound By Ten Commandments
Jesus came to save us from our SINS. He did NOT come to save us from obedience to the 10C Law. He saved us from the penalty for our sins - death (Rom 6:23).
---Jerry6593 on 4/27/17

So, this is the Gospel, in your words? But must we continue to perform the 10C or else we will sin and die?

My statement of the Gospel is this:

2 Cor 5:18-19 "Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation".

Relationship is what it is about, not performance.

Bound By Ten Commandments
These are the FACTS that you Antinomians don't want to face.
---Jerry6593 on 4/27/17

What facts are you talking about?

It is you who continue to waste blog space over and over talking about the 10C and especially the Fourth commandment.

I rarely communicate with you because you seem stiff-necked (unteachable).

I choose to see Jesus as Truth, not a truth, not another truth, but the Truth and Jesus said "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free".

The phrase "My word" are not the Scriptures and not the 10C, but are the rhema of the Son.

Bound By Ten Commandments
Which modern Christian Denominations teach that we are NOT bound by the Ten Commandments?
---Jerry6593 on 4/25/17

Let me try my hand at this.

First, your grammar is incorrect. Your question should say "bound TO the Ten Commandments" because that is the way we were in sin, bound to the Law.

The Apostle Paul in Romans 7:1-3 gives us an illustration of how we were bound to the Law.

But, using the foundation that we having died with Christ (Romans 6), Paul then tells us in Romans 7:4-6 that we are no longer bound to the Law, but we are bound to Jesus.

We now live in newness of spirit, not in the old letter. Jesus brought grace and truth (John 1:17) and we are betrothed to Him.

Ten Commandments Historical

How about YOUR denomination, is it traditional or Antinomian?
---Jerry6593 on 4/5/17

Your question is flawed.

Your question needs to be:

How about YOUR denomination, is it Legalistic, traditional, or Antinomian?

Your denomination is legalistic. In Theopedia, legalistic is defined as: "to an improper fixation on law or codes of conduct for a person to merit or obtain salvation, blessing from God, or fellowship with God, with an attendant misunderstanding of the grace of God"

Sound familiar?

What Is A Terrorist
Today, it's Democrats who support liberal policies like the Civil Rights Act
---StrongAxe on 2/20/17

Wrong again.

The Democrats in the South were against the Civil Rights Acts. Remember George Wallace?

It was passed by a majority of Republicans in both Houses.

The left wants you to forget this and believe the right is now racist.

But who is really making the stink about racism and continues to promote racism?

The left.

Hypostatic Union
because I nor anyone else needs to know the end of the matter for certain to attain eternal life
---Pharisee on 2/17/17

I would guess that 95% of the subjects discussed in these blogs do not impact our having eternal life or not.

But, as I have reminded others in these blogs, to know the Father (and Jesus) is eternal life (John 17:3).

My passion is to introduce people to the real and true Heavenly Father, not the distant, angry, Omni-being, we have been told about in many churches.

If to know our Father in heaven is eternal life, what else could be more important?

Hypostatic Union
Why is it a stretch to think that...Jesus...was in essence possessed?
---Pharisee on 2/16/17

I see no evidence for Jesus being possessed or controlled.

Rather, I see evidence for inhabitation without control, as in being baptized/sealed by the Holy Spirit. Jesus was the Anointed One, meaning anointed in the Spirit. We rarely discuss this. I also see this as a permanent anointing.

We are cautioned by Scripture against being drunk. I believe this is because we are controlled by the drink when we are drunk.

God does not want us to be controlled. God wants us to freely choose God's ways over our ways.

With this in mind, I do not think Jesus was controlled by anything else.

How Is God Love
My earthly dad has not harmed me. My mother has.
---mike4879 on 2/16/17

Trauma causes many problems and some are beyond our own understanding. Trauma causes us to see things incorrectly.

I can illustrate if I may ask you a few questions?

When your mother was abusing you, where was your father? Don't you think it was his job to keep you safe? Safe, even from your mother?

And I think you are projecting this abandonment from your father, onto God. God should have protected you from your mother. Where was God when your mother was abusing you? Why did God abandon you?

Getting answers to these questions will help you.

Stop Smoking Cigs
One last try to post to this blog question!

I smoked for 27 years. I quit when I had a heart attack. However, I still love the smell! And, I loved the camaraderie of the people standing out in the cold smoking.

Did God deliver me? Yes, with the help of nic. patches and gum.

You must be fully committed to quitting to be successful. Quitting must completely be your hearts desire and you cannot quit for someone else. Anything less, and you will relapse.

My motto is Decide, Commit, Succeed. Decide and be fully convinced, Commit to doing whatever it takes, including the hard stuff, and you will be Successful.

I strongly suggest you use the nic. patches and gum to wean yourself off.

How Is God Love
when we have all these prosperity teachers telling us OH WHAT A WONDERFUL LIFE WE WILL HAVE...
---kathr4453 on 2/16/17

I hear the same stuff in a different way when I listen to Billy Graham.

As God said, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge".

It is easy to know that James 1, 1 Peter 1, and Romans 5 talk about trials and suffering. Romans 8 tells us we must suffer with Christ if we are to be glorified with Him.

We choose not to listen or forget what we have heard.

But, in what you have said is something I continually talk about with others.

The Christian life is a process, not an event. It is a marathon, not a sprint. God will work out our selfishness, but we must trust Him.

How Is God Love
So I do ask your forgivness for not understanding what and where you were coming from.
---kathr4453 on 2/16/17

You are very much forgiven. There is only so much we can say in 125 words.

But painting our Heavenly Fathers face with the disappointments of our Earthly fathers is very common. I am convinced most Christians have this father wound as a result.

We stubbornly will not accept that the Father loves us unconditionally, and unfortunately, some of our theology confirms our unbelief and the lies we believe about the Father.

That is why the Trinity is so important to me. To definitively show the love the Father has for the Son and is just the same amount He loves us.
