Helps Whom Helps Themselves

"Augusta -It is not enough to just hear Scripture recited in repetition, it must be explained which is why the office of Teacher is appointed."

Helen- you were brought up in CHURCH!! You lucky woman!
I sat on FAR more many barstools than pews when I was a kid. I can count on ONE hand how many times I was taken to church, but it didn't stop me from learning, Helen.

The CC has RCIA, catechism classes... people to ASK about what you don't understand.

You lucky woman.

Your HouseHold Will Be Saved

'And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.... And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.'

He meant that the promise of baptism is for the whole household including infants and servants.

And after being baptized they partook of the Eucharist: 35 "And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced"

(Ac 16: 30-35)

Is The Pope The Real Deal

***Cited in Double Cross by Chick Publications, p. 27
quoting THE GREAT ENCYCLICAL LETTERS OF POPE LEO XIII
p. 304, Benziger Brothers (1903)
---Rev_Herb on 3/16/07***

Rev Herb, I asked which of Pope Leo XIII's writings is it from?

Describe Your Heavenly Mansion

Believe it or not I've always envisioned it.
The homes are of stucco or some similar material and are 2 story. They aren't overly elaborate but have beautifully ornate detail work (think Paris, SF). Lush plants surround the homes which are on rolling hills and are very close together.

Can't wait to see it. :)

What Is Born Again Mean

*augusta, Your wrong. That is not born again. Your church is lying to you."

Kim, Jesus not only told us in His word how to be born again, He showed us how by His own baptism. "And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, "You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased."(Lu 3:22)

What Is The Shroud Of Turin

Glad to hear you're doing well, Mrs. Morgan. I wondered what happened to you.

Blessings,

Is Pope John Paul II In Heaven

"Martin Luther did. John Calvin did. John Wesley did. Williams did. So what is your opinion of the Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran and Presbyterian Churches that were established in Protest to Papal Rome?"
---SeventhSeal

You know what else they had in common? They couldn't agree with each others' private interpretation of Scripture either. Just like you and the other Protestants can't. ,o

Is The Pope Perfect

I've got a question I'd like someone to answer......
"What's the difference between Pope Benedict XVI and Joseph Ratzinger????"
---berf on 9/10/07

Not a bit of difference.

Just like there was no difference between Simon bar-Jonah and Peter. ,o

Saved In A False Church

Andrea writes, "It doesn't mean you can't have a nice church, but to think it glorifies God! Really put all that money and effort into Christ's sheep and reap those rewards."

Andrea, the Catholic Church not only gives to the poor, she is the only church that is consistently included in the top 10 charities annually.

The only other church that has ever made the list is the Salvation Army.

Saved In A False Church

2. Being rewarded for her charity, the Church can then glorify God by giving Him back the very best she has to offer. Did you know for example that the building of St. Peters Basilica was one of the largest welfare programs in history? Many poor were given jobs and able to feed their families.

And what did Christ say about giving Him our best?

Do Catholics Know History

"For centuries, the Church maintained a comprehensive account of the lives of the popes who, up until the 11th century, called themselves "ecumenical patriarchs", and amazing excesses are recorded..." Andrea on 9/10/07***

Andrea, as a Christian are you not aware that stealing is a serious sin?

What you just posted was plagiarized from an anti-Catholic website.

Are Roman Catholics Christian

"its the RCC that says Prots are not saved"
---Andrea on 9/4/07

Andrea, you obviously didn't understand what you quoted below.

Are Roman Catholics Christian

Andrea, did you not know that there are married priests in the Church today?

Are Roman Catholics Christian

"yes augusta - and we were warned which churches would forbid marriage."
---Andrea on 9/3/07

Andrea, in the Catholic Church marriage is not only NOT forbidden, it is a Sacrament.

Paul's warning was about the Gnostic sects who were forbidding marriage.

Are Roman Catholics Christian

Holly writes: "Augusta...the point is, they can take a vow if they want to..that is between them and God, but it should not be a requirement if they become a priest or nun."

Holly, it's entirely up to the Church to decide what kind of ministers it wants. The Church desires only those who have devoted themselves to the Kingdom to minister to its flocks and that's her perogative. I can't even imagine anyone desiring a lower standard.

Are Roman Catholics Christian

2. Its not biblical - and it should not be binding.
---Andrea on 9/2/07

The Church's right to choose what kind of ministers it wants is biblical. The Church was given the authority to bind and loose and they exercise that authority.
