Tearing Down Statues

"Divide and conquer"
Satan has used this tool since the beginning of time. Democrat against Republican, White against Black, Protestants against Catholics...are just a few examples.

Why Is Satan trying to divide us?
Division creates hate, and hate will keep you out of Heaven. God is not going to judge us according to our Party, or our color, race, or gender. God will save those who learned how to love, because love is how we overcome the evil one.

How do we obtain enough love to overcome hate?
(1 John 2:5) "But whosoever keeps his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected..."
Not an easy task, when churches teach folks, obedience to God plays no role in their salvation.

My Methodist Grandmother spoke to me on loving Jesus. But as I grew older. I stopped believing in GOD.
---Samuelbb7 on 8/4/17

Samuel
It's amazing how many folks, to whom I have given my testimony, have had the same experience.

"Seek and you will find" seems to be the key. I looked for God off and on throughout my life, but it wasn't until I hit rock bottom that I took his hand and let him lead me. Had no clue to where I was being led, but a short 6 months later I found what I had been searching for.

How To Read The Bible

The Bible is a Great tool, but without the Power of the Holy Spirit it's much like having an electric drill, with no place to plug it in. The key to understanding the Bible, comes through the power of the Holy Spirit.

God says, "Though they have eyes they can not see, Though they have Ears they can not hear." God gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit, so we could see and hear. But unfortunately, because of the teachings of men, many folks have no idea how to gain access to our Holy Teacher.

Basically speaking, we must be in the light of God to have full access to the Holy Spirit.
How?
If sin separates you from God (Isaiah 59:1 & 2), you must remove that separation (1 John 1: 5-9).

You have sinned, there is nothing more common to mankind. You must forgive yourself, before you can expect your husband to forgive you.

Sin, like cancer, comes in many forms,... but it's all sin. You stand guilty of adultery, a sin which God will forgive,.... if confessed. Before you beat yourself up, remember you are a sinner, and sinners....sin.

You were born with this affliction, and God will forgive you, for a time. But through the Blood of Jesus Christ, he has given us a cure. The cure comes through the daily confession of sin (1 John 1:9). And through obedience to Jesus Christ (John 14:21) (1 John 3:9-10).

I was fortunate to live in ignorance, of the false doctrine of which I was raised. Though I was made to go to church every week, for 18 years, I learned very little about how to have a relationship with God. Though I had been baptized, it wasn't until my early 20's, that I first confessed my sins before almighty God.

Wow, what an experience!! I had no Idea what had just happened, only that I was now acutely aware of all the evil in the world, and the evil in me. Too bad I didn't have a teacher to explain it to me, for my ignorance caused me to fall back into sin, in which I languished until my 41st birthday.

Thank God for the gift of the Holy Spirit, who has directed my path and taught me the things of God, ever since.

What Is Vain Philosophy

But many use their philosophy to shape how they study and read the Bible.--Samuel

Samuel
A Very wise statement, brother. We need to see things, as they are, through the eyes of God. Men languish in ignorance, simply because they don't walk in the light of God.

The light is real, it's not just some biblical metaphor. There are many religious beliefs, but there are also many who don't teach folks, "How to walk in the light of God".

Can you argue that, which God will show you? To put it simply, confess your sins before God everyday, and let God, not man, show you the way.

Commandments From Jesus

...we in Christ are no longer under the law because the requirement of the law has been satisfied by Jesus for us.--Mark Eaton

Mark
Oh...you believe Sin is still sin, but there is no penalty for sin for those in Christ Jesus. We thought you were saying you couldn't sin, because you were not under the Law.

Some folks believe they can not sin. This causes them to have guilt before man, but no guilt before God. For example, if someone tells a lie and gets caught lying, they feel guilt. But if they don't get caught in the lie, and they get away with it, there is no guilt.

This is why we need to confess sin, because confessions keeps us in light of God. When we are in the light, we will feel guilt before God.

Jesus says if you habitually commit sin, you are its slave.---Mark_Eaton

Mark
Do you actually believe God doesn't consider you a sinner, when you kill someone, just as long as you don't make it a habit?

If so, you may want to change bible translations.

Commandments From Jesus

I refuse to play your games about sin and the Law.--Mark

Mark
Best you play the "Game" with me now, than with God on the day of judgment.

Mark, I'm not denying what Paul said in (Romans 8:1-4) , but you need to understand who he is talking about.
(1 John 3:9-10) KJV says the Sons of God can not sin. Why is it, those who are born of God can not break the Law? It's as Paul said, Jesus has set them free of sin.

You say you believe in Jesus, let's test you to see if you believe what he says. In (John 8:34) Jesus tells us everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
Do you believe him?

Commandments From Jesus

I am a sinner saved by grace. I am no longer under the law, because I am now in Christ.--Mark

Mark
In (Romans 4:15) Paul said, "Where there is no Law, there is no transgression". With this, how can you be a sinner without the Law?

When someone under the Law steals, lies, kills, or commits adultery, they are a Liar, a thief, a murderer, or an adulterer. Without the Law, you can not be a liar, a thief, a murder, or an adulterer.

If you are not under the Law, can you give me an example of sin, the sin that makes you a sinner?

Commandments From Jesus

Mark
When I was a kid, my dad put up an electric fence to keep our horse in the pasture. I just couldn't believe that little wire,... was so dangerous,...that it could keep that big strong horse in our pasture. You know what made me believe? I touched the fence, and that made me believe.

You don't believe you are a sinner, because you don't believe you are under the Law. I'm asking you to touch the fence, and see for yourself.

Confess your sin...
before God, for just one week. There's a huge difference when you walk in Gods light for a week, and you won't believe me unless you find out for yourself.

Commandments From Jesus

(Matthew 3:1-6) In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins, and his meat was locusts and wild honey. Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

Mark
John the Baptist told the people to "Repent", and they responded by confessing their sins and by being baptized.

I knew that 1 John 1:9 would be the only verse you would use. And you are reading into the verse, not out of it.--Mark

Mark
But I didn't give you my interpretation of the verse, I only posted it. Now since I didn't give you my interpretation, and it's not your interpretation, maybe the Holy Spirit gave you the correct interpretation.

BCV please for your proof--Mark

(1 John 1) 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Mark
Sorry I didn't get back with you yesterday, but I find it difficult on CN to post more than once at any one sitting.

I will admit there are very few verses which use the phrase "confession of sin". This is because confession of sin is a part of repentance, which makes it's use a redundance in the teaching.

However, the New Testament uses the word "Repent" over 40 times, and confession of sin is inferred in these verses.

I very much appreciate your standing with me in upholding the truth of the Bible above the opinions of men.---Jerry6593 on 7/24/17

Jerry
And I appreciate you standing on the foundational Gospel of Jesus Christ, and with me. Not too many folks seem to want argue the point we have made about sin, do they? I think we may have changed a few minds, which is my goal here on CN.

No one likes to feel foolish, and If you can find a way to show folks how foolish and illogical a teaching is, sometimes you cause them to stop and rethink their position.

Commandments From Jesus

Mark
We can argue until Jesus comes, but by then it will be too late. Who is right and who is wrong? Let God show you the Truth.

Since you believe you are not under the Law you probably have not confessed your sin, to God, in a very long time,...if ever. If so, confess your sin before God and see if anything happens. (The "sinners Prayer" some folks use is a good template as to how to confess your sin)

If nothing happens, we are wrong. But, if immediately after the confession, you become acutely aware of the sin in your life, we are right. If God forgives your sin, you are under the Law. If there is no change, you are under Grace.

Commandments From Jesus

The Bible says that Jesus came to save us from sin - not from the Law.--Jerry.

Jerry
Well put,... and in a nutshell.
To be honest, I was completely ignorant that Protestants don't believe they can sin. This has become very personal for me.

As a child I had no issues with telling lies, or stealing. My brothers and I were like a gang of thieves. I feel so much shame today for how I was back then. And it wasn't until recently that I discovered why I acted as I did. It was because I was raised as a Protestant and didn't know what sin was.

Mark
As Peter said, Paul is hard to understand, and you see me as ignorant of Paul teachings. So help me by answering these two easy questions, to give understanding to those you see as ignorant of Paul.

If you steal something, is it sin?
If you murder someone, is it a sin?

How can you read Romans 7 and still think you are still joined to the Law?--Mark Eaton

First I'd like to say you were not the "Mark" I was referring to in my other post, the one who likes to change his name. He went by the name of "MarkV".

Mark
Isn't it true, sin must die so that we can live for Christ?
What did Paul use to make this happen in (Romans 7: 11)?
"For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me."

Keeping the Law does not make us a better person. God uses the Law to answer your prayer. What does Jesus pray for in (Luke 11:4)? It's not only a prayer asking for the forgiveness of sin, it's also to be delivered from evil.

Commandments From Jesus

A little while ago, I revealed the fact those who sin are under the Law. For without Law, it would be impossible for anyone to sin.

It's important, for those who believe they are not under the Law to understand this. Why is it so important? Because one gains freedom from sin, by obeying the Law (Romans 7:9). This is why the Law of Christ is also Called, "The Law of Liberty".

Orthodox Christians confess their sins, but also believe they are not under Law. If your not under Law, how do you commit sin in need of confession?
I ask you this very difficult question merely to bring you a different perspective about sin, and about the Law of Christ.
