End Time Secrets Are Revealed

Years ago I attended an "end time" seminar in which we were told that if a new pope arrived on the scene and bore the name of "Peter", then we could be absolutely sure we were close to the return of Christ. Anyone else ever heard of this?

Thanks John. I assumed as much since VI is Roman numeral for "6".

I wonder, do they still teach Roman numerals in American schools or has this too gone the way of cursive writing in the year of our Lord MMXVI?
---Leon on 5/26/16

The blog questions probably refer to the prophesies of St. Malachy, supposedly from 1139, but first published in the 1500s.

There are a series of verses, each of which supposedly represent each successive pope from his day until the end of time, when the city of 7 hills would be destroyed, and God would judge the world. Some believe the verses are accurate, while others disagree.

Actually, the verses stop after the 112th pope "Gloria olivae", and end with a cryptic prophecy of "Petrus Romanus" and doomsday, so it's not clear that this happens immediately afterwards, or a long time later.

I was attending a Bible study course on Revelations and I faintly recall that during the rapture there could be one of many Antichrist including someone who are called herself a pope or some other type of teacher priest Prophet xcetera

Leon, there have only been five Sixtuses so far.

Smooth Operator the Sixth? :)

No, I was told the last pope would be Sixtus VI.

The Bible says that no one knows not even the angels.
---Bonnie on 2/3/08

no. i'm sorry but no. "only my father in heaven knows the day." you need to find hope not in the promise of relief though the "end times" but in the love and scrifice of Christ.
---bob on 5/9/07

I tell ya, time flys when your having fun hua? I just read my post from 2005, I was 30 years old. I will be 32 next month. I don't mind getting old, but time is just slipping away so fast. Time is running out, and it seems people don't care. They think they have all the time in the world. We can only pray because I believe America is going to hell in a handbasket. If people don't come together like God intended.
---Rebecca_D on 5/2/07

Never heard of that one. Nor of the Irish Saint who listed all the Popes by name and coat of arms. I have heard of many end-times conspiracies surrounding the Pope, but they are mostly the product of very active imaginations.
---lorra8574 on 5/2/07

It sounds like a pretty questionable seminar. If I am reading my bible correctly and please correct me if I'm wrong, no one but the father knows the time or date of the end. So if that's the case should be even be worrying about it? I mean really, if we can't know the time then why fret over it, why not live for God today and let him do what he's going to do anyway. As far as the pope is concerned, I'm not sure any potential pope would take the name peter, any catholics want to speak up.

ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION this happened 2 times already, once by a Greek after Alexander the Great conquered Persia, and once right before the Romans destroyed the temple. what is it? it is when they sacrificed a pig to pagan gods in the temple. Once before Christ, once after Christ. stop reading into the scriptures and learn history.

Who are these people who presume to out-guess God?
---Alan_of_U.K. on 5/2/07

Anon, if you want to listen to a true end time seminar, go to any SDA church and they have the most revealing seminar of end time called PROPHECY SEMINAR and REVELATION SEMINAR. They teach purely from the bible and you will be rewarded with satisfaction when you study with them...they will welcome you with open arms ... God bless

I remember a story about an Irish Saint from the middle ages that fell into a trace and later list all the Popes include John Paul II. By describing each popes coat of arms. He listed only one or two Popes after John Paul II. Peter the ... was one the last one.
---Rob_Bauer on 4/17/05

Rebecca ... my daughters are your age.

When they were younger, they all thought that they would never live to be grown up. Because when (not if) America & Russia started the war, we in UK would be devastated from both sides.

For 2000 years we have lived in the end times, each generation has seen all the signs of the end of the world.

Our generation is no more likely than previous ones to be able to guess what God has planned. If we do think we know better than they, what enormous and stupid pride!!

Toby, I'm sorry but What the Heck Are You Taking About shopping malls and mobil concentration camps?
---sues on 4/9/05

I am almost 30 and I have heard all my life, when U.S. goes to war with Russia that is when the end of times are very, very near. I don't know about that, but look around. There is trouble, disasters everywhere. It will be here before we realize it. I know I don't want to be here.
---Rebecca_D on 4/8/05

My mom is 87 and she said to me that during her life time there were MANY times that people acted like this: like they were in the "end times"
---sue on 4/8/05

Toby I do not understand what you say.

Whose signatures do you mean :"I have observed their prominent signatures on all new shopping malls that have been built in the U S over the preceding 30 years"

And what about the rest of the world?

Again what do you mean? "Several years ago, the heads appointed the Pope to preside over the one-world church" Who are the heads?

The end times will come only when the antichrist requires everyone to bear the sign or mark 666. There is also the The Abomination of Desolation occupying the Temple. I thought the abomination is a homosexual.

Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
---jan on 4/6/05

nv B
I am certain the men listed as "candiditates" are those whom the world media regard as being those from whom the next Pope is likely to be chosen.

If none of them obtains the required percentage of votes, it is quite possible that, as before, and outsider may be chosen.

I have not found a web-site that says these are the official candidates.
---Alan_of_U.K. on 4/4/05

Alan, 11 candidates have been chosen. They will be voted on by the college of Cardinals. To my knowledge, this is the first time a black man has has been among the 'chosen'.
Check it out online, there are pictures of the candidates.

"But you all brothers are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. When you all therefore will see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso reads, let him understand:)" I Thessalonians 5:4; Matthew 24:15. And he also tells us exactly what will happen immediately before his arrival- Matthew 24:29,30.
---Eloy on 4/4/05

nvB Surely there are no candidates for Pope? It could be any one of all the assembled cardinals.

Only they can decide who will be Pope, and they have not published a list of those they will consider.

All that has happened so far is the newspapers have speculated as to who is likely to be considered.

At least that is the impression I have from my paper.
---Alan_of_U.K. on 4/4/05

Richard, your recollection establishes an excellent point that the Body of Christ should be alerted to! Several years ago, the heads appointed the Pope to preside over the one-world church, which may well signify the onset of the great apostacy. I have observed their prominent signatures on all new shopping malls that have been built in the U S over the preceding 30 years. The presence of numerous concentration camps, both mobile and stationary, also speak volumes of the manner of the unfolding tribulations. We are in a most excellent era for evangelization!
---Toby on 4/4/05

Also, we must remember that in these last days, we need to witness to the lost. Be careful not to be so caught up in signs of the times as to forget our work until we are raptured. Wouldn't Satan love to distract us! Knowing exactly what God's Word says is important, too, so you won't be fooled.

I know we here lots of those type comments, but the one true way to know how close the time your bible! There are many ref. as to what to look for when Jesus shall return, especially in Rev. Remember He says he will come like a thief in the night, so no one will know the exact time, but through the bible we can know what signs to watch for! Please be ever watchful and GBU!
---gina on 4/4/05

All Popes choose a new name when they are elected. The next one could choose Peter as his name or any other name used by his predecessors or from the Bible.
---Kathy on 4/4/05

Amen Eloy, the signs of the end times are there as to what to watch for according to God's word.

BTW, unless its a middle name, all the candidates for Pope have been chosen, there are none named Peter.
---NV_Barbara on 4/4/05

Part 2: This message was given around 48 to 57 A.D. to the churches in the region of Galatia, and is still being preached today, 2005. The parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins is an excellent read for this topic, Matthew 25: 1 13. As Christians we should know we have nothing to worry about when the Lord returns; today, tomorrow, or two hundred years from now, if we abide in Him; walking in the Spirit (Galatians 5: 16 25). Walk in love, light, and wisdom (Ephesians 5:1 21)! Strive to inherit the Kingdom of God daily.

Part 1: In Matthew 24: 36 44, the bible speaks about no one knowing Christs return, verse 24 (NKJV), But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. In verse 43, a metaphor was used, But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. In verse 44, Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
---Dawn on 4/4/05

If we follow Jesus we should be able to know the signs. The Pope is just a man. We are to call no man Father. I also have heard that in the end days the Pope will be the False Witness. I believe we are living in the last days, the death of this Pope and the election of the next has great significance. Everything is being put into place. Many Christians live in denial that this is the last days. The Bible never said that we will not recognize the Last Days but that no man knoweth the hour when the Son will return not even He himself knows the exact hour the His Father will send Him.
---Carolyn on 4/4/05

If you are a true born-again Christian, then you will know when Jesus is coming again, because he himself told us when he will be coming again and he also told us exactly what to look for immediately before his arrival.
---Eloy on 4/4/05

No one but the Father knows the time of Christ's return. but we can know it is geting near and i guess the best advice i can offer is that we should be ready to meet him in the air, what ever time he comes. In revelation it says that "The bride maketh herself ready" we are the Bride of Christ and we can't lose by drawing nearer to Him and it is not by works of course but by his grace that we can keep ourselves unspotted from the world. to keep our hearts and attitudes right with him. And always try to lead others to knowledge of saving grace.

The Bible talks about end of time or end of times? Is the word time single or plural. Remember the bible says on That day not on those days. Is the day Jesus will appear. But when it's said about the Pope, it's about the signs of those days.(Such for Vicurius Filii Dei). The bible says that this generation wich shall see these things shall not pass.Wich things?Desease, rumor of wars,(Tsunami)...About the pope being called Peter never heard, but what i know if the pope elected becomes the sponsor of European Union, and finishes the confilct in midle East, that Day is nearer. So get ready!
---AbbaB on 4/4/05

I believe Christians are not to 'worry' about the end times but that the key for us is to watch, pray, and be ready to go when Jesus returns for his own. The Bible states that only those who are watching for His return will leave here with Him. We need to know what the signs of the times are as stated in God's word. Then we will be aware when that time is nearing.
---Gwin on 4/3/05

I don't think that the prognostigators even knew what they were talking about! No one knows the time or the hour, and that is biblical. Nostradamas even tried to reveal end time prophesies, but his quartrains are all gibberish now. Don't wonder about it all, I think just trusting in GOD with all your heart, and accepting JESUS' sacrifice on the cross for your salvation, will and should suffice.

He will come like a thief in the night. I personally wouldn't listen to anyone that says they know when the Son of God will come. We can all generalize, guesstimate or whatever, but only our Father really knows.
