Christians throughout time have sufferred. Being Christian does not exempt us from suffering. As long as we are in the flesh we will suffer. Many times suffering is useful to bring us closer to God. Why are so many Christians so wimpy? The suffering should make us closer to God.
In nations where Christian face suffering, they are stronger and closer to God. The suffering should be embraced not shunned.

catherine, not all sickness come as a result of sin...the can but not all

Many people, including Christians, deny the true power of God and his intentions. Remember: we are living in a temporary body on a temporary Earth. Our real home is Heaven. If we can endure the hardships in this life, be content even in times of trouble, don't blame God for our troubles, pray continuously, repent and stay away from sin, we are guaranteed a place in Heaven. We are only a few short years before the coming of our Lord, can you survive until then? Trust in His judgement.

Maybe some of you could give some Scripture that shows it is not always God's will to heal. I know about Job, and Pauls thorn and Timothys stomach problems. But it doesn't show that Paul's thorn was a sickness or disease. And there is no teaching that it wasn't God's will to heal even in these case. Did Jesus ever show this by his teaching and example?

Have you ever considered the possibly that it is not always God's will to heal sick Christians? Well my friend have you? It is not always God's will. You may ask, how come? So the believer can bring about the glory of God. And you may want to also consider this>>>Sickness is a penality for Sin. [John 5-14]

God allows suffering in our lives in order to bring us closer to Him.

Trials and tribulations are not to destroy but to strengthen. And they produce patience. Both are scriptures. Trials and tribulations takes you to your knees in prayer. Trials and tribulations increases your faith in God, my friend. Unbelievers, God does not help. but a believer, can always count on God if He stays close to God in prayer. Do not wait until all hell comes against you and then expect God to come running.

We are at war- good against evil; the Spirit vs the flesh, and we require tempering and conditioning. Some are on the front lines, and some on the back. You will know where your faith is when it is tried by fire. "Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution." II Timothy 3:12. i believe that the closer you are to Christ and the more you let your light shine, then the more you will be dis'd by the enemy and the more you will suffer persecution. "Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but YHWH saves him out of them all." Psalm 34:19.

Trials, tests, sufferings, all the same thing, are actually good things. Trials and sufferings are the way of growth and overcoming. In order to be an overcomer, you have to have something to overcome. Scripture says, if you want ot reign with Him you will also have so suffer with Him, be identified with His sufferings.

Tell your friend that Good and Bad things happens to all just like what the Lord says in the book of Ecclesiastes..
---edna9754 on 4/30/05

John Macarthur once said "bad things don't happen to good people, because there are no good people" remember, the Bible says "there is none righteous, no not one."
---gabriel on 4/29/05

The reaon why good people suffer is just because some good people do not acknowledge the words of God

When we became Christian there was no assurance that we will not experience problems. The only assurance is, GOD is always with us whatever situation we are in. We might not understand why good people suffer but GOD ways is always higher than our waysand GOD thoughts are always higher than our thoughts. All things work together for good.

When I see Christians suffering especially when they are suffering with me in some way shape or form I remember that the Bible admonishes us in this fashion. The rain falls on the just and the unjust. This helps me aline my thoughts better and gets me going again. Sincerely, Audrey

This question has perplexed me for years.

I have watched some Christian families go through so much. One in particular has been through what would almost be described as hell with sick children, accidents etc. Yet until recently our family has been blessed with good health and so on. Even though we have been touched by cancer now, I look back over the years and thank God we have escaped so much misery.

Have you considered his servant Job?
---david5083 on 4/22/05

Look at the sufferings of John the Baptist.I'd suggest to have a bible reading study where the bible is read consequtively and a notebook prepared with all notes on the suffering of some people. Also listening to other fellow believers testimony on the great and horrible sufferings the Lord has freed, healed and rescued them from is very encouraging.

(Matt.24:9:13)Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will fall from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Continuation-- You have no idea the grief that his brothers and sisters put him through.(Matt.13:55-57) "Isn't this the carpenter's son? I suppose you can begin with the example of our Savior. Even while his mom was carrying he was in danger of being killed;because if Joseph hadn't been a kind man who loved Mary and obeyed God; she would have been stoned to death for apparently committing fornication according to their laws. Then the decree which they had to travel far and then when they arrive there's no place for them in the inn.Joseph took his family to Egypt in order to keep him safe when the killing of little boys happened. During his childhood he was subject to his parents. be con't.
