What Abraham`s son had known about his future mate before she became his wife? Genesis 24:66-67.How long Abraham`s servant was seeking a wife for Isaac? Genesis 24:12 (in his prayer he told "today"). But now why Christians have been praying ...years? What`s wrong? Too little trust Lord?

When it comes to marriage, this is one of the prime areas we should pray to God for guidance in. If we trust God, we will trust his will for our lives. Not everyone is meant to marry I don't believe. I think it is good to find a spouse that will enrich your life, but finding a spouse not ordained by God can bring much heartache to a person too. I think people want to make their own choices many time without praying to God for guidance.

Rebekah was not known to anybody but Laban and Bethuel, her brothers; go back to Gen.24:27 and you will see that Rebekah was related to Isaac (Gen24:4,38). Of course, that was genesis, the beginning, and there was not anybody that was not related if you believe they all came from adam and eve. It is a totally different problem searching on the net for your own mate. I agree there is little trust, but it also comes from not waiting long enough.

Genesis 24:1-67 Abraham's servant prayed and asked God for the woman God had appointed for Isaac, to come to well and draw water for him and the camels. It was an answer to prayer and a miracle, when Rebekah came and did so. It was also part of God's plan and covenant with Abraham. Abraham believed God, and was obedient to him. Isaac became the father of Jacob, who's name was changed to Israel. The Saviour came from the children of Israel, of the trib of Juda. Matthew 1:1-17 Revelation 5:5

#1 To 'Everything' there is a season. The 'season' (time period in your walk with G-d)you are in, (is it time to marry?), #2. He who 'finds' a wife, finds a good thing. It is not only the matter of waiting, some women are not called to be a 'Wife' ,you may be marrying the wrong woman or looking in the wrong places. In all thy ways acknowledge 'HIM', and He SHALL direct thy paths. G-d instituted marriage, hence The 'MARRIAGE' supper of The Lamb.

How in the world could suzanne even say such a thing as God does not care for marriage!! God created marriage!! Just because people don't respect marriage much, Is Not God's fault. If you read Genesis you'll see when and how God created marriage.

If one really wants to get married one can simly go to an internet dating service with whatever specifications are desired in a mate. One cannot simply stay at home and do nothing expecting God to answer prayer.

There are numerous reasons for unanswered prayer: The main reason is selfishness. When we pray as Christ did, "Nevertheless, not my will, but your will be done", then we are acknowledging God's Lordship and final authority over our entire lives.

Susanna, I disagree. God created marriage. Genesis 2:22-25 Matthew 19:3-9 Ephesians 5:21-33 1Corinthians 7:1-5,10-16
God created our bodies. Psalm 139:14 Hebrews 13:4 Sex in marriage is honorable. God created sex for marriage, for pleasure and having children. Some do not marry, that is good too. Matthew 19:11,12 1Corinthians 7:6-9
It is fine to want to be married. I learned the hard way, it is better to be patient, and wait for the right person, who really loves you and the Lord.

part2) but now with christians 'relaxing' on issues of fornication, many dont see the need to marry,
---susanna on 1/20/06

I dont realy believe God cares that much about marriage its a man made thing, and nothing much is mentioned in the bible either apart from it being marely tollorated in ST Pauls day to prevent fornication. people then did not care who they married, they just went ahead and did it with the nearst person in the church pew, but now with christians 'relaxing' on issues of fornication, many dont see the need to marry,

I think your trust in the Lord is fine.

A christain book, "Boundaries in Dating", stated that if you are dating less than one person per year, maybe your standards are too high.

God is wating to show us how to find a mate. To get in his program you have to risk. People don't want to do that nowadays. They would rather sit in thier comfortable singleness.

When we put our faith in God and trust in him he will lead us and guide us. The internet is not wrong in meeting someone if we are wise and let God lead us but too many lead God instead of following him. Pray about a soul mate God will give you the desires of your heart. I have waited a long time and im not giving up.

It was a perfect plan of God as Abraham's servant prayed for succeess & the prayer was immediately answered. It was the will of God to accomplish His plan & purposes through that family. Its true many times people of God pray for years but answer doesn't seem to manifest I believe God knows the best for our lives & He does & plan things in His program & timings Its time of preperation so we can to accept the challengens that will come across & we must know how to handle & take care when God brings His blessings in our live as we complelety learn to abandon ourselves into His hands Pb3:5-6.

That action of the servant finding and introducing Rebekah to Isaac is being substituted by using the computer....I just do not think that is wise.
---gregg4933 on 5/7/05

Wrong again on something, I think. Rebekah was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milcah, who was the wife of Abraham's brother Nahor.(Gen.23:15) Laban was the only brother of Rebekah. Isaac did not know Rebekah, he was told about her by the servant. The servant was told where to go and what to do to find Rebekah.
