Should We Pray About Everything

Should we pray about EVERYTHING or does God give us freedom to choose on some issues? I think we should pray about borrowing money for a car BUT should we pray about every little detail like the make, model, colour, where we purchase it etc. Some people seem afraid to make ANY decision themselves.

We should pray for everything & everyone as well, not just when we're in trouble or sad.
Pray over our children that they are safe while playing at the playscape, pray that our spouses do well at work & don't get hurt, they come home safe,etc... as far as the car I would just pray that if a car is needed make sure it is safe, gets you to your location, because the details are onyl greedy like make, model, but hey A/C is good because safe in summer heat especially with kids riding along!

We should pray all of the time, and especially on, life changing or life-threatening issues.Serious matters that we need special help with. Nothing is too small for God to handle or too insignificant to pray about. God wants and desires to hear from His children, at all times and for whatever reasons. Makes me mighty glad to know this.

This kind of praying does no good, unless you are willing to listen for the answer and then act on the answer you get.

Bible principles teach that If I make $1000.00 a month and I want to buy a car and the payments are $800.00 That I shouldn,t do it. I have rent, food and other obligations. To pray for an $800 car is going against the Lords teaching. It would be foolish.

Philippians 4 "6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. "

This verse says everything. I just ask God for the wisdom to make the best choice.

According to 1 Thessalonians 5:17 - Pray without ceasing, we really don't have much of an option but to pray about everything in our life.
Good job the verse before it says, "Rejoice always."
Someone said prayers of praise are the best prayers of all. And the easiest to pray.
Delighting in the character of God, and understanding His desire to be praised, should encourage us to pray.
Thank You God for being You. In Jesus Name Amen.

I suspect many folk pray to the east, pray to the west, pray to the god they love the best (who or whatever he, she, it may be). Christians should always pray according to the Word of God. To do so we must study the Bible, cover-to-cover, to gain understanding of God's will for our lives. Not our will; but, "God's will be done" in all things. Father knows best!

Welcome back Rev. Herb.

The answers to our questions can be given by scripture and or by people.

We seem to want God's best so PRAY. Pray that we are in harmony with the will of God.
Or pray that to understand the will of God.
Thessalonians says pray without ceasing.

I believe it is important to be in a relationship with God, then sometimes, you will internalise a question, and just ask 'God, now what' and he responds, because you have formed a comfortable rapport.
Sometimes he answers wishes. I remember wishing I could go for a holiday, since I could hardly afford one, but didn't pray about it, because I felt it was selfish. God blessed me. I got from the company a 3 day all expense paid holiday for my family, that was way beyond my timid imaginations!

First of all remember that you always have the freedom to choose, God never takes that away.As to what to pray for, that is between you and your God. If you think you need his input by all means get it.You cannot go wrong by asking the Lord for guidance.

Hi Paul_James

We have the freedom to choose anything we want - that is God's gift of free will, but sometimes the motivation behind our shopping choices can be slightly skewed. Just a thought. Elsie, a precious story indeed. :)

Thanks. This question could be about anything, not just a car.I asked because a T.V. preacher said recently that some people will ask God which store they should buy their groceries, should they buy beans today, what make, which size of can etc. I've never met anyone who does that. He said God has given us freedom to make such decisions ourselves. I agree. My prayers are quite general, asking God to make me a good steward of what He has given me so that I will make wise decisions and not be wasteful.

Hi again: Can't resist telling another "specific" prayer story. Since 13 yrs old, I knew God wanted me to be in missions. I wanted to obey but I thought I had to help God out. Big mistake! I prayed, "Lord, please don't send me to Africa!" Guess where He sent me..... Siberia! Then I KNEW He was laughing and saying, "My child, don't EVER tell me what to do!" He gave me the most glorious experience you can imagine! Praise Him forever!

The other day, I was praying and I asked God what he would have me do for him. To make a long story short, I ended up giving my car to a missionary, and had to buy a car, I prayed about it and told the lord what I wanted, I made the plans but the Lord directed my paths. I got an even better car than I was looking for and at around the same price. Just Pray...

When it's worked out best for me:I pray then wait.God sent a buyer for my old vehicle.I sold it at a great price(after the "for sale"sign was taken off).I waited some more(& looked for a car & car prices)then God sent me to a car lot & one "jumped at me".I had peace about it.It was a fair price to pay.Mainly He gives us PEACE when it's right, and "something just don't smell right"when we are about to make a mistake.Bless yall,

The only thing we need to not pray about is praying. We just need to pray.

I think we talk to Father like exactly that ---a Father! Would you tell your dad hey I am looking for a new car any ol car will do or would you say hey dad if you see a blue minvan less than 5 years old for less than $6000 will ya let me know? We can think and we can pray and trust. I just betcha we mix up what we need to specific about and what we just need to trust about. Me I ask whatever I want! Me and God are quite close and talk about it all!

I used to be a person who didn't pray about EVERYTHING,until I found out that the Bible does say to pray about everything. I also learned it is okay to pray for favor with God. God is concerned about everything in your life..not just the big things..All those tiny, trivial things I pray to God for..He gives to me on a daily basis. It is an amazing show of His love.True we have free will but God wants us to lean on Him for everything. I trust His decision over any and everything in my life.

Prayerfulness. He kneeled upon his knees three times a day,and prayed.and gave thanks before God."Dan.6:10 we will give ourself continually to prayer."Acts.6:4." Pray without ceasings,"1 Thess.5:17.I hope this answers your ouestion.I pray for every thing .The lord is listening and will answer the smallest prayer. God Bless. Dorin4639

P>J;This may seem "off beat" but maybe you'll catch my drift. In the song "My Way" it goes" what is a man, what has he got,if not himself then he has nought" some see this as arrogant, but I see it as someone assuming ALL his responsabilities, for every decision! we make 100s of choices each day, with God's guidence we can make right ones.

Hi Paul James, My old car had had it. I needed a new one. I prayed, "Lord I would like to have another car within my budget with this, this and this on it and please do not make it red". Well, He answered above and beyond. However it was red! I wondered about this. I felt in my spirit, He was saying "I wanted you to feel young, so I gave you a red one - My ways are best!" He must have been smiling too. Praise His all powerful Name! (Ephesians6:18, Phillippians4:6) Blessings!
---Elsie on 5/23/05

We have to pray, yes! But to ask God for guidance or instruction what make, model,or color, and where to buy the car, I guess it is too much! We should not forget that God has given us the faculty, the potentials (at the time we were conceived)for us to use. We should not be afraid to make decisions. God has given us the free will to discern what is right and wrong.
---linda6546 on 5/23/05

God wants us to seek his will for our lives and that means pray about every decision. I've never thought about make and model before, but God knows we need transportation in this day and age in which we live and He will give us everything we need. God also made us with a free will.
