Commenting on the responses...
In most of these comments I read that shared response "God it telling you to pray for that person"
My question is, if God knows the person need help, why does He has to tell someone specific to pray for that person? There are billions of ppl who need prayers. In my humble opinion, the answer for this question should not be generalized. It depends on specific reason of the relationship between the two persons. In this case the question by it self is not detailed. Hard to give any advice.

I think that many people have experienced having a person suddenly 'pop into their mind' maybe a long, long time after they last saw that person.

I feel that it is some kind of intuition (a gut feeling) - God is allowing us to think about that person for a reason and praying about the person is the first thing we should do. If we are meant to do more (maybe 'phone them) then that is what God will tell us to do next.

Please ask God to show you who this person is in HIS sight first. God's answer will either encourage or discourage you concerning this person.
Suggestions can come to our mind from 3 sources, God, self, Satan. It is the idea that comes from God that really prospers us most.

I've wondered this as well and I don't have a answer but the same question. I have a hand full of people that are on my mind but there is just that ONE! Person that keeps popping up. I pray for him everyday and leave it to God. But I just can't shake it.. any advice on that ? thank you

When ever someone "pops" into our minds my wife and I have learned to pray for them.

When we are apart and have problems we have learned to pray for each other.

If somebody's name crops in your mind out of the blue and perhaphs you have not seen this person for a while most likely God wants you to pray for that person who could be in danger or going thru some rough patch.

Sometimes it is God's way of showing you that person needs prayer and sometimes at that very momemt you see them.. So if you see someone, cry out to the Lord and perhaps even stand in the gap for them. There is a Great Blessing in intercessory prayer. God Bless

i dreamed of someone for a month, had become close to our family in a trying time, that person disappeard! tried to make contact several times, no reply. called the home phone, who answered? yes, that person, it was God who put this person in my dreams, realizing this person needed support, and someone who cared. after talking went to praising God for making the connection and prayed for this person. be obedient to the holy spirit, he will lead and guide always...sister in christ, e-mail me anytime.

God can be putting the person on your mind to pray for them or the devil can be giving you obsessive compulsive thoughts about this person. I'd pray for this person as God commands us to pray for one another. The devil can cause us to think about a person or other objects to get our minds off of God. Just stay focused on God.

Yes, when God lays someone on your mind and heart He's leading you to contact them generally because they're thinking about you or they're in need.
---Heather on 6/24/05

BTW...why don't ALL you 'Anons' at least make up a name and use it if you don't want to use your own name! At least we can keep our 'anons' straight!
---NVBarbara on 6/24/05

Yes, God is trying to lead you to either pray for them or go and witness to them. I have experienced this in 1996 and the Lord layed a couple on my heart and I didn't go and see them and I diregarded what the lord was showing me and after about a week my neighbor came and said the man had shot himself and was dead. Go to them and pray for them, What ever it takes to intercede. This person may be going through something you may never even know about. May God bless you.

I agree with anon. When I think of someone, I just always offer up prayer for them. This happened to me just yesterday. I felt really down, even had a short cry, didn't know why, I felt just fine. No one came to mind, so I started praying for my family first, when I got to my son, I felt a sadness come over me and I prayed a lot for him. I just found out today that he has been sick since monday with a bad stomach virus. Let God lead you.
---NVBarbara on 6/24/05

Yes it is usually to pray and then possibly to contact them especially if you have been out of touch. Drop a note and say you have been on my mind and I have been praying for you. That is encouraging to anyone.
---rachel on 6/24/05

well maybe God is trying to tell you that you just need to spend time with that person ,talk to them , look after them maybe thats what he is trying to tell you
