No. You don't tithe to God just to get back. God don't owe you. It is not like "I'll scratch your back, and you scratch mine". That is not how it works. If you give just to get, your giving in in vain and God will not honor that at all.
---Rebecca_D on 10/24/07

Sure. What would you like, 1,000,000?? No make it 2,000,000 oh and how about a new house too.

Oh wait, there is the little problem of all the hungry an homeless....

Do you think that is what Jesus might have had in mind when he said John 14:13, "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son."

You cannot buy God. Money given with a view to getting a return is not an offering it is a bribe.

DO NOT seek God's hands, but rather, seek HIS FACE. Seek God for who He is, NOT what He can do for you or give you.
---Leslie on 1/7/07

tithing is about obedience and faith, not expecting rewards or asking favors. if you give expecting Him to repay you, you're giving for the wrong reason.

Psalms 37:25 "...I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor Gods {children} begging..." God will provide what we need. job 33:12 "God is greater then man"eph 2:9 I don't want gov. to take credit for what God does for me.
---laure5469 on 6/30/05

my blessings from God can not be confused with welfare, or food stamps. When I am blessed by God no one will say that it is any thing but God. I am healthy and therefore God has me work for my living. As I said "don't work don't eat". that was the way I was raised. God is my spouse and provider, not the goverment. Yes Christians should reach out to the people who don't have Christ to lean on. that is a way to show them Gods love and that God provides.
---laure5469 on 6/30/05

no. say and refelct on the prayer of "Our Father". even Jesus said, "not My Will(this cup) but Yours be done" <><
---monique on 6/30/05

tithing is NOT a "payment"forGod's blessings, it is an unconditional love offering to Him,we CAN ask God for anything we want but He decides..there is great difference between want and needs.. He is not a blessing machine(pay and collect)
---karin3565 on 6/30/05

Dear Biyam,
Did you ever pray the "Lord's Prayer". What do you pray? Isn't it: "THY will be done"? Are YOU doing the will of God? What do you expect? God isn't a Santa Claus!! I believe in a blessing God, he wants to bless you, but he isn't a postorder market!
---Ernst9433 on 6/30/05

God is our source, but he may very well uses human agents (man) to give the blessing.

Luke 6:38, "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, SHALL MEN GIVE INTO YOUR BOSOM. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."
---Bruce5656 on 6/30/05

Some churches when/if you give in "faith" that God must respond. This is not scripturally accurate. God doesn't "have" to do anything. He graciously chooses to bless us, for His pleasure and glory. You cannot manipulate or control the Almighty One - if you could, then he wouldn't be so "almighty."
---Daphne on 6/30/05

If you're asking that question seriously then you missed the entire boat about Christianity. We tihe because it is a Commandment (no not of the 10 commandments but a commandment nonetheless); just look up "tithing" in your Bible.
---Heather on 6/30/05

What would you want next, a drive thru to pick up what God is giving you that day? And no He doesn't deliver! He will often give us the desires of our heart, and He answers our prayers-IN HIS TIME. God is allowing you to have money, He has no need for money. Its a good idea to give to our church to keep it up, pay a pastor, utilities etc.

The tithe is Gods to start with, to give it back is to obey. God loves a cheerful giver. I don't beleive in government programs,[my help is from God not man] so as the bible says "you don't work you don't eat". this means I have an income to tithe from. ask anything acording to the will of God. God will not give you something not good for you. If you do not tithe you may find our self dealing with disobedence

I`m going to admit to s herecy: being unemployed, I don't tithe! Shock, horror, how does God punish me?
De doesn't, I find my praers and requests answered just as much as when I tithed.
---mike5663 on 6/30/05

No! God is not our servant, we are his. You can ask him, but that doesn't mean he has to do what you ask. If that is how one feels, God would rather you not tithe at all. The sheep don't run the flock, the shephard does.

No!!! After Christ died, and you accepted His Son, He can ask you for anything and YOU have to deliver. Does the sheep tell the shepherd what to do?

First you need to be saved by believing in Jesus as your saviour. Romans 3:23 6:23 5:8 1Corinthians 15:3,4 John 3:15-17 1:12 Ephesians 2:8,9 Romans 10:8-10 1John 5:11-13
Matthew 6:6-15 Jesus told how to pray.
Mark 11:24-26 He said to forgive others.
John 14:13,14,15 15:7,12,16,17 16:23,26 Pray to the Father in Jesus name
1John 5:14,15 according to His will
Mark 11:24 1John 3:3-22-24 believing

No,God does what is good for you.Remember the Bible says you ask/pray and have not because you ask amiss to consume it upon your lusts.God doesn't give peoples greeds, but he will supply our needs. We don't pay tithe to get anything ,but because 10% of what we get already belongs to God.It is His right. Why should anyone be able to ask for anything just because they gave God what was already His?God "have to deliver"?Surely you jest!God doesn't have to do anything. He's GOD.
---Darlene_1 on 6/29/05

God is All-sufficient, unpurchaseable, and doesn't need your tithe.

Please remember that tithing is nothing more then giving back to God What GOD HAS GIVEN YOU, for without Him you would have nothing to tithe. It is not about what God does for us, He sent His Son to die for our sins, and he deserves to be obeyed. Tithing is a step in obedience towards God!
---zoe5647 on 6/29/05

God has said that he will supply all are needs. And if we are living right, He will give us the desires of our hearts. It is wrong to demand God to give us what we want. He knows what is best for us, and He will teach this to you also. Keep paying your tithe and seeking God. He will bless you. His blessings are wonderful
---Linda3939 on 6/29/05

God is not conformed to our will, it is His will to be done. The thing that you desire to have, does it somewhat glorify God? Think about what u asked... Tithe is given from the heart, God does not need the money, He sees where our hearts are. If u give to recieve, u should not give.
---Alicia on 6/29/05

No, God does not "HAVE" to deliver as you put it. You are not to tithe to "GET" something you are tithe to give back to God a portion of what he has given you. God gives to Joyfull givers, not the selfish. And God only gives what he knows we need not what "WE WANT" It is according to God's will not our will.

"BELOVED, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers." (3 John v2). -- Clearly God is "into" us. He cares about our well being, He wants us to have a good, happy life, but more important to Him is our soul. Make sure your soul is taken care of and He'll see to the rest.

"BUT seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." (Matthew 6:33)
---DoryLory on 6/29/05

I agree with Bruce, even tho he wasn't very tactful. It is rare that you should ask God for anything except spiritual things. You should be asking for spiritual things like your whole family being saved, your whole family being in the will of God. Your neighbors saved, your friends saved, your church, your pastor and his family's needs, the poor, the homeless, the downtrodden, the sick. Until my family was saved, (all of them), I wouldn't dare ask God for anything secular.
---shira_5965 on 6/29/05

Just because you tithe doesn't mean that you will get everything you ask for. But you can ask for stuff and the Lord will bless you as he sees fit factoring in whether it will help you or not. But your prayers don't get answered just because you tithe. Your prayers get answered by the kind of Christian you are and what you do for the Lord. If you're doing something to get something he doesn't bless that. Be careful you don't stumble into something that you shouldn't. God Bless
---angea6336 on 6/29/05

What do you think? As a Christian, you tithe because you want to please God and have Him as a friend. Pay is different and God does not take pay for it is mandatory.
God's love is given-He does not bargain with it.
