You accept Jesus as your personal savior,
Receive the Holy Spirit, and
Give up your self (way of living) and
Let the Holy Spirit TRANSFORM you according to the will of God!

Is it hard to be a Christian? No! It is impossible, without the help of the person of the Holy Spirit. So don't try so hard, but allow God to work in you.

His 'yoke' is easy. Just keep the 10 Commandments and ask Him for forgiveness of your sins---and sin no more.

I think this answers the question.Matt 22:35-40 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

When you were born could you do anything on your own? no, you depended on those who cared for you to teach you.
It is the same when your spirit is re-born.
Unless you are taught you will not know how to do anything.Who should teach you? The Holy Spirit will teach you all things he wants you to know if you ask him.
Study Gods word,it's the instruction book for life.ask God to give you understanding of the word,Thank him daily for helping you to grow in wisdom and obedience.

At the challenge of a friend, do a Bible study on "How should we live". If you concentrate first on the New Testament, especially the epistles, you will compile a list of short verses that have direct effect on our actions. Committing them to memory is essential. Following the leading of the Holy Spirit will bring many verses back to memory in a tough spot. This is one form of guidance. Most will tell you the Holy Spirit is essential.

Galatians 2:20, I am Crucified with Christ: Nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

My dear Donna, When we ask Jesus to come into our hearts after we have repented of our sins, we are given a measure of the Holy Spirit power; however, some of us (myself included) had to wait until the Lord Jesus granted the fullness of His power through the Holy Spirit. You do not have to "try" to apply what Jesus said to your life; it is a gift through His Holy Spirit. Just ask Him, have faith and He will grant it! No more trying. Blessings as you follow the path that Jesus walks!

2 Corinthians discusses how we cannot do anything but for God's grace. It is by the power of the Holy Spirit that we do anything good. Romans 6,7, and 8 are also good.

"lose your life for his sake." Matt 16:25
He doesn't mean physically dying, he means giving up all that you are and aspire to be in the world to follow him. Let God give you new desires of the heart as you deny the ones that live in you.
Get alone with God, don't settle for Idle entertainment, all it does is tempt you to smile at sin.
Do one thing, find agreement with the Spirit of God in all things and the rest falls into place.

Old things are passed away and behold all things become new. Attitudes change as our enviroment, our associates and things we did, does not become as interesting as what it was. 'Example of Christ' is our goal. The Holy Spirit to lead and quide us into all truths, the command to "love" one another, and to study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman, not ashame to rightly dividing the word of truth. I suggest to begin somewhere, not save the world or prove anything to others but God.

When you receive Christ into your heart and life, he lives in and through you to the glory of God the Father. It is submission and obedience to him. Every day is a choice whether you will live for him or for someone else. Daily crucify your flesh and let Christ reign in you. Walk in the spirit, pray without ceasing, fast, and meditate on the New Testament Word. Please read Romans chapter 6; and I John chapter 3.
