I believe he knows that he has lost the WAR!
The Bible indicates that he is going around with some URGENCY trying to take as many as he can down with him. (I will let someone else supply "like a roaring lion" text.)

satan was defeated at the cross but he wont give up like alot of dont. however he knows it and it will soon be over

Satan is so full of ego, pride, and lie's, yes, I do believe he thinks he has a chance, look how he deceived 1/3 of God's angels when he revolted against God. The bottom line is he has no chance period, his final destiny will be in that pit for all eternity, along with his demons, and unrepentant humanity. --Mrs. Morgan

Eloy Yes ..Hitler got so far because to start with he seemed to do so much good for Germany, better employment, roads, education, restoration of the pride they had lost at the end of WW1. Many in UK thought he was a good leader, and supported him, as did many in the US including Joseph Kennedy. He provided good things, as Satan does, in worldly terms, whilst his underlying purpose was evil, again like Satan's.

Alan of U.K., Hitler was a horrible monster. I think that he actually thought that he could take over the whole world. He did diabolical medical experiments and mutilations on men and woman and children, and he gassed them alive in gas chambers. He was gross, the pure epitomy of evil. I still am astonished how far he got before he was stopped, he was responsible for horribly torturing and murdering over 6 MILLION Jews across the land. Now he is tortured himself for all eternity for all of his atrocities.

Eloy ... you are right in comparing Satan & Hitler. Hitler at first appeared to do many good things for Germany, and before the war, even whilst he was doing terrible things to Jews and minorities, had many friends in the world, including many very influential people in both Britain and America. During the war he won many battles, and as his eventual defeat became inevitable, he acted even more terribly towards those who were in his power. But bad as he was he was only a poor imitation of Satan

His separation from God is such that his conscience is completely devoid of, or having the ability to, receiving of any of God's Spirit. Adolph Hitler reminds me alot of what Satan's nature is, one big pitiful loser, made to be burned and tormented for all eternity.
---Eloy on 3/11/06

Well, i'll tell you what, i really think that Satan has convinced himself that he possibly can, or else he probably wouldnt have rebelled in the first place. But if God was here before any other entity than he would be the final authority. Unless there is something left out in scripture.

Willow and Bob, I agree with you both that Satan is continuing out of his extreme hatred for man. I also believe he knows he's already defeated, because this happened with the resurrection.

the truth is Satan is defeated, and condemend, and he wants to take as many of us(the children of Adam) the the lake that burns with fire and brimstone.

Satan's doing what he's done since rebelling, committing suicide!

Our options are life insurance for this life, hopefully 'soul assurance' for our new or next life.

Satan is without options, Israel's destruction his delay, now scripturally impossible [Ezek.37:1-28, etc.]!

His hate for God/God's creation is mind boggling, espescially for Jews/Israel God's Time Clock, and Christ's Church Body.

Satan's been around awhile, so he's not as stupid as some believe him to be.

I wonder if one of the reasons Satan hates us so much is because of the extreme grace that God gives to humans? We can mess up so many times and repent. God forgives us every time. There is no redemption for Satan and his fallen angels.
---Rick on 7/30/05

satan is defeated already and he knows it too. He is just taking as many with him as he can and he will hinder our testimony also so we can't lead anyone to Christ. Jesus conquered death, hell and the grave at calvary.
---shira_5965 on 7/30/05

He knows he's defeated, but in the meantime he wishes to drag as many human beings down into Hell with him as possible, and thereby inflict as many wounds on the creation and upon God's heart as he possibly can before the end comes, out of hatred for God and desire for revenge. And hatred for us too, since God loves us.
---Billy on 7/30/05

Satin was defeeted already. He knows that. He is trying to hinder the grow of faith in the body of Christ. He trys to bring unbelief to the children of God, that they have no power..he lies all he can, but Jesus said that we will know the truth and the truth will set us free! We have power and athority over him... for it is no longer i that lives, but Christ Jesus that lives in me. Jesus is with us.
---linda3939 on 7/30/05

I agree with all of you. I know when Jesus was casting out demons they were saying please don't torment us before the time. That sounds like they know they're defeated.Does any of you think that maybe he's just trying to delay it as long as possible?

No. Like a person sitting on death row awaiting their execution, so is Satan's existence. The pitiful creature has already been sentenced by God to everlasting torment in the lake of fire, and he knows that his Judgment day is getting ever increasingly closer, and he also knows that he cannot prevent it.
---Eloy on 7/29/05

I often wondered this myself. Like why is Satan even trying anymore??? He MUST know he will be defeated. And I wonder why he doesn't repent, if God would even forgive him.
---sue on 7/29/05

He knows defeat is inevitable.
Speaking of the devil, Revelation 12:12 says - "... HE knows his time is short."
---DoryLory on 7/29/05

Pierr: Very well said. Not much to add to that!
