Lead To The Lord In Public

If you get into conversation with someone about your faith and they show a real interest in being saved BUT you are in a public place is it wise to try to lead them to the Lord there or go somewhere private? I've had mixed replies on this from friends.

There must be conviction of the heart before someone is saved and if the Lord is convicting a heart and you are there to help him, It shouldn't matter where we are at the time. I wouldn't want to be quilty of going against the Holy Spirit that is dealing with a soul. It could mean eternity for that soul. Its called pride....God hates pride.

the Holy Spirit will lead for you, just let it happen. If that is the place/time that it's soposed to happen then it will. DOn't force it to happen the way you want it...candles,songs from angels,76 degrees with a slight wind from the south, with a hint of starbucks coffee..sorry that was my dream leading in public

Kit,I know we all miss the "time" probably many times in our lives but if we are ashamed to serve Christ in public, no matter what people say,we are following man and not God.Anyone who is critical of saving a soul in public has forgotten thats why Christ came and He set the example, among the multitudes He saved and healed in public. We must never miss a chance to show a person their way to heaven. They could die before we get them in private. That would be terrible.

A person should never be embarrassed about sharing our Lord with others........Remember we are "a peculiar people"and we are supposed to go"against the grain" of normality.......Be led of the Spirit and no matter what the world thinks you will be doing "right"

One day after our intercessory prayer group meeting, we went to a local restaurant. We were chatting with the waiter.....we shared the Gospel; he knelt right down there in the restaurant and accepted the Lord Jesus into his heart. I must say this was the first time I had ever experienced something like this, but it shows how the Spirit works when we allow ourselves to be directed by His great power.

If you're new at evangelism it is not uncommon to have reservations in leading a person to the Lord in prayer in public, but just do it with gladness that you will be bringing in another lost person into saving grace. After the sinner's prayer and accepting Christ i tell them to remember this date; find some good Christians to be friends with; and get baptized; pray to the Lord everyday; and get a KJV of the Bible and begin to read some of it each day.

Darlene 1, the scenario you describe is almost identical to one I was thinking of when asking the question. It didn't involve me but some friends, but the person who led another to the Lord was criticized afterwards for doing it so publicly 'because it was embarrassing' but obviously she felt it was right and that she was being led to do this, otherwise she wouldn't have.

I would kneel down right where I stood and made whatever was in front of me an alter. Jesus said Today is the day of salvation. Who knows who else you would have witnessed to. If you feel the spirit of the Lord moving, let him move where ever you may be.

There's a time for all things upon earth including salvation. You witness in public, follow through.Jesus didn't mind moving in public. Not salvation but a reason not to wait.A man was dying of cancer ,already sold his business and made peace with the fact.A Prayer partner ,and I saw him in a Cafe and she felt led, right there, for us to lay hands on him and pray for healing. We did,he was healed and last I heard was still alive. It's being instant in season to obey God's leading. To wait, may be too late.

Kit, the best thing to do is ask God at the time and do what He tells you to do. After all, He knows what He's doing, even when we don't!

There are accounts in the Bible of people getting saved in public and in private. It will depend on the person and his heart.
---Jeffrey on 8/21/05

It may be best to find a private place but if not, then go ahead...we are not required to be in a private place, just be there when people want to be saved.

If God has brought you to this moment he'll lead in this too.

The spiritual re-birth of a soul is his business so leave the concern for results to him. Ours is to bring the message fearlessly.

If the time is now why say 'later'?
