Is This A Rededication

Should I get baptized again? I was immersed when I was 17 years old- I am 30 now. Today at Church, I felt the need to walk to the front, and ask for baptism again. But why? I thought I was following my heart, but now, I am confused?

Unless you are truly sure about. I want to myself but I have been rejected for baptism. If you haven't done it and they rejected don't feel bad, an alternate way is by publicaly Recommitting your life

what you probably felt was conviction to be saved. Baptizism does no good unless you are saved.

You don't seemed confussed, you seem like you are being led by the Holy Spirit to start fresh. Has your walk with the Lord been changed at all since you were first baptized at 17? Maybe you have a stronger feeling/better understanding of what you want to give to the Lord...GOd Bless

Bruce :If so what is Christian babtism,as opposed to Catholic Baptism. If baptism does not absolve sins what does it do?How can the HS enter if a person is with sin.we talk about false doctrines & traditions but yet we continue to flaunt Jesus's words. ACTS2v3

Moderator - People get baptised because they are saved not baptised to get saved. The later is a false doctrine of works. The examples in the Bible show people accept Christ into their lives then they get Baptised as an obedient act; not the other way around.

I have no idea how the catholics get baptised. I don't follow up with them. Why do communion more than once? Jesus only done it once. But yet there are others who do it daily, weekly, monthly. Now if someone is doing this just to be doing it, then that is where it is wrong. Same with baptism.

---Emcee on 8/25/05

Unlike "Catholic baptism", CHRISTIAN baptism has nothing to do with the absoloution of sins.
---Bruce5656 on 8/24/05

It doesn't say in the bible Emcee, for it is a personal thing, along with a spiritual thing. if I feel the need to bet baptised again, I'll do it in a heartbeat.

Allwho advocate more than one baptism:can you show me in the book where it says that people can be Baptised more than once to absolve sins. How many times must a christian be baptised to invoke Gods Forgiveness on what grounds is contrition granted.

Blade, if you have been away from the Lord for even just a bit, but have decided to renew your commitment, baptism may help you feel clean again. Or if you've matured and felt like you were not fully aware of what your baptism meant at 17, by all means do it again!

I think it was the Spirit prompting you to go down front at church. Never disobey the Spirit of God! Love ya' bro!

I was baptized twice. The first time, only to be a member of a church, & I didn't understand it fully. The second time, I truly understood it, & felt promted by the Holy Spirit to do it. No regrets.

yes, i would follow that lead, and you would have absolutely nothing to lose by doing so. Gladly go for it. Personally, i have been baptized more then once, and my conscience is satisfied.

Baptismis a one time sacrament which removes original sin & all sin conferring on the recepient the gifts of Faith Hope & love.all other sins comitted are forgiven through confession.
"go ye therefore baptising whose sins you shall forgive they are forgiven whose sins you shall retain they are retained" Acts3-38 matt 28-19

We should rededicate our lives daily to serving God in an ungodly world. Often, situations, a touching sermon or sevice, an illness, a close life threatening call of yourself or some real close to you makes us feel so much closer to God. God is opening your heart to receive and trust in Him so that we turn our lives and goals toward Him. May the love you felt at that moment always be part of your life and give you the fire to share and spread the word of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

It all depends on the motive. What is it that you expect rebaptism to do for you?
