What Is The Unpardonable Sin

When my sister was fairly young, maybe 10 years old, she got angry more than once and cursed God. She's asked forgiveness but is terrified that she has committed the "unpardonable sin" and is going to hell. Is that forgivable, and what is the "unpardonable sin"?

I've always been taught that the unforgivable sin was blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. And I was taught that that was to be born again of the wrong seed. To be born again of satan. Being born again cannot be taken back, so if you take satan as your lord, that is what you get. It cannot be forgiven, because it cannot be taken back, it's seed. Just like being born again of God.

Perhaps Job's sin was that he attributed to God what came from Satan, which God merely allowed up to a certain limit. However, he did not curse God and die, as his wife told him to do. Instead she died. Job was recompensed family, livestock, health etc. There is a danger we reject God when we see the work of Satan on our lives.

The unpardonable sin is rejection of the Holy Spirit for salvation. When we are saved, all our sins are covered under the blood, but if we are never saved, then we have rejected the Holy Spirit and will die in our sins...that means hell.

The unpardonable sin is blaspheming the Holy Spirit. It would be saying that the work of God was witchcraft or that the Holy SPirit gifting was demonic and not from God like when Jsus cast demons out and the pharisees said "he is doing the work of the devil" that would be unpardonable so your sister is FORGIVEN. the devil will have her believe she is not, but she most certainly is! Tell her to trust and believe and let go of her shame, guilt and sadness over offending God and she will be free!

The unforgiveable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

When the anti-christ comes and you stand before satan and refuse to let the Holy Spirit speak through you is the unpardonable sin.Peter denied Jesus and he is in heaven.Tell her that Jesus still loves her very much.

, i believe those verses refer to the deeper heart condition of those who refuse to ever repent, as indicated by their outward slander of Jesus' work.

Matt 12:31,32 Luke 12:10 Mark 3:28-30: Jesus meant what He said. There is an "unpardonable sin" and it is giving credit to Satan for the work of the Holy Spirit. In this case the Pharisees, who KNEW that Jesus was who He claimed to be, did not want to surrender their place of authority and have people submit to Jesus instead.

So, they deliberately and knowingly attributed the work of the Holy Spirit to Satan in an attempt to discredit Jesus. This was not a casual or accidental "sin" but a deliberate rejection of the Messiah.

, the only sin God won't forgive is our continous refusal to be forgiven. "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just,..." the word is "IF".

I was taught the only unpardonable sin is not asking for forgiveness

Rose, you have been wrongly taught.

i grew up being told that the only sins never forgeiven were adultry and murder...

The one and only nonpardonable sin that I have ever heard of is not believing.

Knowingly blaspheming The Harauch Hakodash [Holy Spirit], is the unpardonable sin spoken of by Jesus Christ Himself.

This means "knowingly" giving the (d)evil one [and maybe man] credit for the works of The Holy Spirit [Matt.12:31-32].

We're judged according to our knowledge, how could she have known then [I Jn.1:8-10, 3:18-24]. Tell your sister to "go [in peace], and sin no more"

#2, Now for your sisters salvation. Rom 3:10, all are sinners. 2 th 1:8, wrath of God against unbelievers. Rom 4:5, not by work, but belief and faith, also Eph 2:8-9. 1 Cor 15:3-4 Christ died for our sins. Rom 3:25, declaring his righteousness, when we put our faith in his blood. Eph 1:13, once you trust in what Christ did for you, you are sealed until the day of redemption.

Ephesians 3:8 Paul writes how he is least of all saints, but still foung grace. Matthew 12:31, Mark 3:29, and Luke 12:10 talk about the unforgiveable sin, which Paul commitedwith the stoning of Stephen. Colossians 2:13-14, talks about how we are forgiven all trespasses, and took away the law that held us down.
---geraa7578 on 8/25/05

, it is important to look at the entirety of scripture. the only unforgivable sin is a continuing refusal to be forgiven. God forgives all who ask of him, no matter what they did, but he won't force people to come to him.

Something most that replied didn't really touch on is that your sister is only 10 years old. Most 10 year olds dont know right from wrong and can hardly distinguish between blasphemy and other sin. God and your sister are the only ones that know whether she is past that, "age of accountability." I would say that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit would be unpardonable, but we serve a Holy and just God. He knows our heart and loves us apart from what we do.
---DavidT on 8/24/05

She's forgiven. The unpardonable sin is attributing works of the Holy Spirit to Satan, like saying the righteous is sinuous or the holy is unholy. "therefore I say to you, all manner of sin and profaning will be forgiven to men, but the spirit of desecration will not be forgiven. And whosoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him: but whosoever speaks a word against the Holy Ghost, it will not be forgiven him, neither in this age, neither in that to be." Matthew 12:31,32

Unpardonable sin is to compare or equate doing things of the Holy Spirit with doing things of the devil (blaspheming the Holy Spirit). See Mark 3:22, 30 "Because they said, He (Jesus Christ) hath an unclean spirit". But your sister can rejoice, because only the Holy Spirit "reproves the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment" John16:8. So your sister`s asking forgiveness were moved by the Holy Spirit! Be blessed forever!

The Bible supports what the others have written. The unpardonable sin is blaspheming the Holy Spirit. If your sister is repentant and confesses this to Jesus Christ for salvation from sin, then the Bible says, she is saved. Her life now should show testimony that she is obedient to Christ and lives for Him.
---chria8537 on 8/23/05

Kyla: First off let me assure your sister. She has not committed that sin and here is why. A person who committs that sin HAS NO REGRETS or is not sorry for doing wrong.
The person who committs this sin cannot be pardoned because he/she does not want pardon but wants the Holy Spirit to go away so that he/she may harden his/her heart!
