Acceptable To Steal Food

Thou shalt not steal, against God's Word. Wonder if someone took food and pampers for their children instead of vcr's, tv's, what would the Lord say? I believe some of these people would even be willing to pay back for taking supplies. Lord, have mercy on us, forgive our sins, heal our land.

If out of poverty people steal it is no sin the sin is stealing yet you have the money to pay for it. Give to the man/woman that steals from you out of wont/despracy/poverty but chastise the one that sleals out of pure greed.

No it isn't and the Bible makes it clear on that.Try seeking help from your brother and sisters in Christ at church instead and a homeless organization.I'm sure if the wordly people might be able to lend you a hand imagine how the CHRISTIANS will be even more glad to give you a hand with pleasure that comes truly from there hearts and I bet GOD will be pleased to see that.

Although I would not want to condemn anyone for stealing food and diapers it is sill wrong no mater how much we feel the people's pain

Proverbs 30:7-9 Two things I asked of You, do not refuse me before I die:
Keep deception and lies far from me, give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is my portion, that I not be full and deny You and say, "Who is the Lord?" Or that I not be in want and steal, and profane the name of my God.

"...that I not be in want (need) and steal." It is still considered stealing even if it is clearly a need. God help us to not profane the name of our God.

I would imagine that most items 'stolen' were absolute necessities for survival. I would certainly not condone anyone stealing a television or jewellery etc. but food and pampers are somewhat different to that. I cannot imagine myself watching a baby go hungry if I could 'steal' some formula milk or watch an old person die of thirst if I could 'steal' some bottled water.

How many people left I.O.U.s in stores looted? Noone should go hungry (kids or adults), yet where is the line drawn? Pampers? Why not cloth? Not nearly as much trash to pick up or walk through later. Why were all those people sitting by trashed streets? Most looked real healthy to yell about the gov'ment not helping. Do before pointing the ol' finger. Yes it's a horror, but one footage showed hungry people outside as a reporter showed crates of food in the dome... Help each other, not steal from them.

Jesus taught us to show compassion towards our fellow man. Given the circumsstances, none of us can blame people for scavaging whatever they needed to survive. This does not include the "jacking" of cars, theft of non essentials and firearms. For New Orleans police officers to be caught looting is shameful.

Too bad we don't live by the civil laws enacted by God. He ordained that the Hebrew people were to leave the corners of the fields and the residuals from harvest for the needy to help themselves. It wasn't stealing then.

Truth be told, I am over the whole deal. I am ready now for the return of our Lord and Saviour to take his people home. Let him execute his judgement on those who continuely reject our Lord and Saviour. Save those who will be saved, I am ready for the end.

If these good kind hearted Christians are close enough to be willing to help then they are almost certainly in the same position and unable to give that help, however willing they would be in different circumstances. In the middle of flood water, sewage, without food, clean water, blankets, diapers etc. I think the word stealing has quite a different meaning from how we normally perceive it. Have a heart those of you who think it wrong to just try to survive. There but for the grace of God go I.

Let us not forget that these people are starving and desperate. Most do not know Jesus as you do.They are in an extreme state of anxiety/fear/stress.Don't you dare judge them.Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.Christians where is your mercy. There are many things every christian does that God overlooks because of His mercy and compassion don't you think people who don't have the blessing/benifit of knowing Jesus should also recieve the same mercy from you!!!!!!

Frankly, I couldn't watch my children starve. If I was in the situation to boost food, or have my children go hungry, I would sin. I would be guilty, and feel guilty, and would beg for forgiveness and try my best to pay for it, or replace it later.

No,instead ask the good kind hearted Chriatians for help.I'm sure they would be glad to lend you a hand.

If I were in that situation, and it came down to my children, I would do what I could to help them. I watched the news and people are taking food and water, blankets to survive. I seen small children crying because they didn't have anything to eat or drink (except rain) for 3 days more days for some. Even though it is wrong to steal, God is and will have mercy upon them. He wouldn't be a loving God if he didn't.

I heard the mayor gave the people permission to take necessities from the stores.
---DoryLory_&_Bob on 9/1/05

While it would be easy to justify stealing a needed item, such as food and pampers for their children, still it's stealing. As someone who has been in the "baby care" business, I don't know of a "mom & pop" type of retail outlet that will not give these items to someone who needed them. (A larger retail outlet with multiple stores may be harder since the manager of that store has limited control.) Even a larger store will give them away, but it takes more time.
