Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and
doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon
a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds
blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell not: for it was founded upon
a rock."
So, mind the weather and build on a strong foundation. That much if
possible is under our control.

Jeremiah 25:32-33 Thus says the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the farthest parts of the earth. And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried, they shall be refuse upon the ground.

Zechariah 7:14 But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.

Psalms 78:47 He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with frost.

Psalms 78:48 He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.

Isaiah 28:17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

You don't believe Satan is imaginary, do you???

And no, Katrina grieved the Lord greatly.
---Rebekah on 12/20/07

God either made the hurricane or allowed it to happen. he isn't tied up and helpless. if you think there's no god then no explanation will suit you. if you do believe in a god you must have an image of one who's out of control and helpless. that's not much of a god is it? some will suffer from the storm, some will survive, some will be stronger for it. he let the storm happen for many reasons. he'll use anything to accomplish his will.

I wonder if the questioner mistyped the question. What if she had meant "It's simplistic to blame imaginary fiends like Satan, and God" ?
I think some were too quick to condemn, rather than try to answer the question.
It would be good to see Jezzie's answer to the responses so far.

Satan is not adverse to taking credit for the qualities, capacities, and attributes of God. God is a jealous God. He doesn't like his roles and titles being thrown around. Responsibility for the weather. Someone has to take the blame. People who don't conform will be labeled obstinate. Their obstinacy will be blamed for God's judgment.
---john on 10/28/05

Isa 28:2 Ez 13:12-13, Lk 8:23. To me these verses are meaning hurricanes. God is in control of things here on earth, he wouldn't be God if he wasn't.
---Rebecca_D on 10/7/05

I stand by what I said. Your name calling is decidly unchristian.
---Bruce5656 on 10/7/05

Have none of you ever read in the bible that tornadoes, floods, hurricanes are God's weapons of indignation? True intercessors usually know about this.

Moderator - Please show the scriptures for all three.

My reply was not posted yesterday. Bruce, what I meant was, it is our blog (Christian Blog-refer to Home page). It sure is not the devil's blog. Who's side are you on? Who played into who's hands?

God wiped out Sodom and Gomorrah!! See any simularity in those city and N.O.,crime, immorality and pagan lifestyle? I sure do. A word to the wise. Money will help with physical needs...temporarly...but never solve this crisis of the hearts.
HOWEVER.....this may be a blessing in disguise. Maybe this will bring about a GREAT REVIVAL in America. We should pray to that end. Physical needs are being WELL provided for. It's their desperate souls who are starving to DEATH. II Chron. 7:14
---HW on 9/10/05

Jez: Someday you will need the REAL God just like those poor souls who lost their lives in New Orleans. I pray that you find Him before Satan destroys you completely.
---Jerry on 9/9/05

I find no scripture where God used weather to punish people. In fact Jesus showed that Satan rules the earth. When He rebuked a storm and was called the devil, he asked, Can Satan rebuke Satan?... Yet, God does punish. He caused thousands to be killed in the scriptures. He condemns unbelievers to a certain death. As for practicing our beliefs, that is what we are doing here. What are you seeking here? If our great ancestors were amoeba, what kind of miracle would that be? Can you make that happen?
---mike_fl on 9/9/05

God does not controll earthly events. Yes he made the earth,he made us, but he didnot want us to suffer. Satan is very well apart of this world, he is the ruler of this world. God lets mother nature do her duty because it's nature, but we should not blame him for an event that is not his fault.

First of all, God and Satan are not imaginary; they're as real as you or I. Secondly, Satan is NOT a friend. God has no ego. As for "appropriate institutions," this is a Christian website, where better to publically ask questions about God, Satan, and the Bible (which, coincidentally, is factual)?
---Heather on 9/9/05

I see what's happening here. this Jezzie (and I doubt thats their name) is trying to start trouble among us believers. The enemy must be really laughing right now. This is an old trick of a warped unbeliever. I have seen this before. Let's stick together brothers and sisters! God bless us together, strong!
---Debbie on 9/9/05

I don't agree with you bruce. John had every right to say what he did. This jezzie or whoever it is, is from Satan. Not everyone is a child of God and never will be. Sometimes you have to take authority when the devil plays games with you. John was wise enough to know the differance.

In regards to the weather and other calamities that befall man. I do believe that as shown in the book of Job, Satan is allowed to tempt and test us but only under the parameters set by God. I think hurricane was allowed to hit, but the fact that it hit a city known for pagan religion, promiscuity, drunkeness no accident.
---Linda on 9/9/05

Jezzy, Read the Bible, especially Revelations. Then turn your heart toward God, repent & be saved or what it says in Revelations will happen to you! Our God is not "imaginary" neither is Satan.
---Melissa on 9/9/05

Only God knows the question to your answer. Sometimes, We, humans are our own worst enemies. Everything we eat has our own chemicals in it. The air we breathe is inpure. Even the water we drink is not entirely safe. Just look what we do to the enviroment. We take everything for granted till its' taken away from us, then we gripe about what we don't have. I'm just as much to blame as the next person is. I'm just glad that God shows us the mercy that He has shown us and not what we deserve at times.
---EJ on 9/9/05

All one has to do to get this question answered is to read the Old Testament (the accounts of the pre-Exile days and Pharoh & Moses). And, even Nature itself has been effected by the Fall of Mankind. God could choose to act in this way, and it would be through His wisdom and holiness.

Jezzie, I am praying for you. MY GOD DOES NOT punish HE LOVES. MY GOD IS REAL as is my enemy satan. There is nothing imaginary about a God who created the universe (including you). The appropriate "institution" to practise our beliefs is ALL OVER THIS WORLD so we can save people like yourself who have a warped sense of what God is about. God does not have an ego he has love and made it possible for YOU to recieve this love.

Do you realize that a homosexual event called "Southern Decadence" was scheduled to take place in New Orleans Aug 31-Sept 5, bringing in more than $100 million tourist dollars? And that all the casinos on the coast were either destroyed or severely damaged? Do you think maybe God is trying to tell us something? I would not want to be an atheist or agnostic at this time (or ever). MY God is real, not imaginary.
---Nan on 9/9/05

I would like to make it clear that while John refers to "our" blog, his dismissive and un-Christlike attitude is by no means representative of the majority of "us".

John, you might want to consider that if this person wrote the question to get reaction, you played right into her hands.

Matthew 10:16, "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves."
---Bruce5656 on 9/9/05

"Lets practice 'our' beliefs in appropriate 'institions'( whatever that is?)."

There is no "OUR" here, your comments are not in any way akin to the Christian beliefs on this forum.

Imaginary????????? Satan is my real enemy and God is my real friend. His spirit lives inside me. My friend, I pray you get saved so you will never feel the real heat of a devil's hell.
---shira_5965 on 9/9/05

The Bible says Satan is the Prince of the Power of the air.
You say Satan is a friend. I understand why you don't understand. Adam's sin causes creation and mankind to groan. That is why we have this weather. God offered us a perfect place and peace. Not in this life yet some of us still reject, like yourself. You talk of Ego and are bold and proud enough to condemn God who you know nothing of.
You have a storm worse than Katrina going on in your heart.
---Elder on 9/9/05

Jezzie, Sounds short for Jezabel. Get off our blog with your anti christ feeble efforts! You talk like an atheist. You don't have to believe in God but you will be confronted by Him one day. I believe in Him and I am glad! Praise His holy name!
---John on 9/9/05

I DO NOT believe God punishes his children through contolling weather. Perhaps people need to stop blaming God and look at themselves. How about pollution and ozone and all these natural ocurenses because of what we ourselves have done to our earth in the name of advancements.
God is a God of love not an angry God of wrath who wants to kill his creation.

Yes, Jezzie, this "imaginary" God IS our Creator and IS in complete charge of this massive universe. What is even more astounding is this same powerful God wants to save each person from their own self-destruction by offering a personal loving relationship with His Son Jesus Christ. Surely this is more significant than laying blame re the weather. After 11yrs in these same institutions, I can unequivocally testify that science can never save us--only God can!
---Elsie on 9/9/05

Our faith should be founded in our God. When we replace God with government, local, state, federal, and the UN, we see the results of years of mismanagement and waste. Weather goes in cycles and man decides where to build his castles. Is it smart to build in a swamp? Is it smart to elect politicians who can steal the most? Is it smart to send the most billions to Louisana for flood control? Is it smart to build a society that is responsible for nothing except cashing their government check?
---chuck on 9/9/05

Imaginary friends? The entities you mentioned are real. As for whether or not God sends storms to punish? I dont feel that my God does that, but what He does do is turn tragic situations into opportunities for His glory and for His light to shine through in the rescuers, medical personel, volunteers, and the people across the country and the world who are helping financially and with prayer.
