Mega Churches Have Mega Pastors

Do Mega-churches have Mega-pastors? Instead of planting new churches, many just get bigger and the pastors get richer. Single mothers live on welfare, many pastors drive Beamers! Didn't shepherds in the bible live with the sheep, not above them?

god is just a way to make big profits & personal financial gain

the millions of $$$$ they are collecting, they can help those who lost jobs, in need & suffering
but these televangelist mega pastors know how to manipulate the bible.

and this is how they manipulate & exploit

when the money goes into their church, they quote the book of malachi 'give your 10% & god will bless you that you do not have room etc etc...'

when the money goes out of their
church, 'brother, I will pray for you'.

They can't tone down their self-lavishing...that's what they're in it for. Our generation's mindset has been conditioned to respond to trends and advertisements: come and be saved, really, who can save you more! For a first timer it's a lot easier to slink in with the hundreds going to mega-church than to walk up to that eerie little stain-glassed steeple-topped church, clonk that big latch and open that heavy door and face the faithful few inside: be careful, they might recognise you as a heathen and a sinner. So they fail the first test right there, not because they are scared of going to a real church but because they choose the faithless one over it. No fear of that at mega-church because there's no awe of God in there.

This issue can vary greatly from mega church to mega church.

I once went to visit a Pentacostal mega church. My friend told me that the pastor only lived on "love offerings" and not salary. Well, he drove up every week in a brand new $85,000 BMW and proudly parked it at the front door. My friend would only say that the pastor was "blessed" and that if people did not like it they did not have to give to the pastor.

At my mega church, the pastor gets a fixed salary. The church gives millions a year to missions and charity and does care for the poor.

Jesus never lived above his followers....
When he sent his followers out he told then not to take a money bag with them
He said if you follow me you may not have a place to lay your head
Paul didnt take any money for preaching because he said it would PERVERT the gospel...
Jesus cleared out the temple 2 times because people made it a market place....and they where selling RELIGIOUS STUFF!!!(BOOKS AND TAPES BY YOUR PASTOR!!!)

Pastors, ministers etc couldn't care less about teaching the gospel. They have been taught to profit off the blood of Jesus Christ as much as they can. Jesus taught no one should teach his gospel for filthy lucre, but every pastor etc says forget that. I am only going to preach if I profit from it. I remember an article. A woman wrote to one of the television evangelists. She asked for help. The guy wrote back, after he received many letters, leave me alone. it is your problem, not mine.

Seeing my pastor drive a ragged car and living in a run down slum area would not make me happy either. But I do think some of these mega pastors should tone their lifestyles down a bit. Even if they are able to live high, they should consider the people, they lead. Over 99% of their congregants are not only poor but most are in need sitting right on the pews in their churches.
I have made it to church before with barely gas to get home. But is that the pastor's fault?

Be careful which "shepard" you follow because, unfortunately many pastors are NOT leading their flocks in the direction of truth & salvation. Your decision should not be based on the size of the church but on the truth of the message being taught. Carefully check the teachings against the truth of the Bible!

mega churches and mega pastors dont always mean they are obedient to God. I have friends who go to a mega church and the things that comes back to me about it is so unbiblical e.g. running up and down the isle making strange noises and falling on the floor going into a fit. Thats not of God. We should concentrate on the Mega Truth/Jesus

Many people are on welfare Dave. But heads of big companies also drive Beamers & Mercedes. That doesn't make them bad! You have no idea how they may be helping the underprivledged. If nothing else, the more they earn, the more taxes are going into helping people on welfare.

I agree Marilee, there are big churches that are teaching God's word, and some that aren't. That is also true of small churches!
I prefer a 'mid size' church. Often churches grow so fast because people are hungry for God's word, what's a pastor to do, turn them away? God forbid!

C, I think you have slightly misquoted the following verse. 'John 13:16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.' The master most certainly IS greater than the servant.(Or are you referring to a different verse?) However the relationship between pastor and church member cannot be compared with that of master and servant.

Shira, I'm glad you have a good church home. I can personally testify to the fact that there are indeed large churches that are definately teaching right on and are filled with the Holy Spirit. There are MANY that don't - but there are some that do!!! Calvary Chapel churches are a good example. Look them up on the web - and look for Chuck Smith who started CC. Blessings to you.

It says in the bible that the master is not supeiror over the servant nor is the servant greater then the master-(thease are my own words, but the main pt is there) Therefore the teachers or pastors in the church shuold be on the same leavel as the members, but as for teaching they can teach us correctly, btu not seem "higher"then us.

I had rather be in my little church where the spirit of the Lord is present. I realize where the crowds go there is no conviction. That is why it is so crowded.
