Before Jesus Are All In Hell

I was wondering how it feels from a christian perspective to look at everyone else who is a nonbeliever. I imagine it makes you feel more special than you already think you are. AND, people who lived before the time of jesus, are they in hell? and if not, why not? they certainly didn't believe...

Special? Yes, but no more so than the rest of the human race. We are special because even while we were enemies of God he still thought enough of all of us to give His son to pay the penalty of our sin. Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

The people who lived before the time of Jesus DID believe. They believed that God would one day

I believe that the gentiles saved during time are the ones that became circumcised and onverted to Judisam!

send the perfect sacrifice to pay the price of their sin, death. Romans 6:23.

We read of Abraham Romans 4, "...For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness." They were not saved by their observance of the law but by their belief in what the law represented and what the sacrificial system pointed to. Messiah, Jesus, the Christ, the son of God. For example Isaiah 53 describes the Messiah and his sacrifice in detail.

The ones going to Hell from pre-Christ times will be those who worshipped idols, totally ignored God and the scriptures and lived their lives in a way totally alien to God's ways. Those who believed what God told them through the prophets and scripture and lived their lives accordingly will go to Heaven I am certain.

The Open One, please stop and think about your question. In the days before Jesus' birth how could anyone possibly believe in Jesus the way that we can now? He hadn't been born. Yes, they could believe in One God the Creator, they could believe that the scripture said that there WOULD BE a Messiah, and they could wait for Him with anticipation, BUT they could not believe in Him as Jesus Christ crucified, because it had not yet happened. God is not going to send anyone to Hell because of that.

Linda 3939, you're right. Jesus taught Christian love and true Christians are supposed to feel that for everyone (nonbelievers as well as believers).

Mature Christians look at non believers with compassion. Jesus said Father, forgive them they know not what they do. A unbeliever has no clue what is going on around them. Compassion of the Lord is new every morning. Christians labor to win souls for the Kingdom. Jesus died on the cross, he descended into hell and preached to the captives, He rose again. Read John 3:17-18. Jesus did not come to condemn. The unbeliever is already condemned. Good news is they can be saved if they will believe and repent.

i don't have any feelings for or against nonbelievers, for reality is that the world is full of them. We christians share our faith with nonbelievers so that they too might believe and be saved. The saints who were looking for their Salvation (Messiah), and died before Jesus' time have already been raised. Matthew 27:51-54.

The open one:: You have asked this question because you are seeking & this is what he asked us to do.Gods plan is for every one & we are called to publicise his word spread his love this is what it is all about sharing the love of your creator 'yes your creator. Before Jesus there were men who knowing full well what was required of them yet did not follow gods words & for that they paid the ultimate price.Lastly we only assume. That is only known to GOD Almighty

The open one::God was the beginning & the end -Yes he gave us understanding & knowledge & he incorporated in each human to know the difference of Right from wrong. He also gave us desire to improve ourselves.I lived with other faiths for 42 years& met some good people, yes some even better than christians because they believed it was wrong to lie cheat swear have multiple relations devoted to their families.& true to their beliefs of their own faith yet they were not Known to Jesus but he knew them.(con)

I think that being humble is important ... to be lower than non-believers ... a servant like Jesus was. And that is work. But the question about the people who lived before Jesus' time ... that's a good question ... especially when you consider that Jesus is the only way to God. I would guess that ... God's love for these good people sort-of preserved them ... spiritually ... until such time as they can be allowed to know ... and utilize ... Jesus.

As Christians we are special to God BUT we are not any more special than someone who has not come to God. When I see a non-Christian I feel sad and worried for them and want to tell them about God. I am a sinner as well so why should I feel higher or more special than them? We are all created by the same God. Some have just made a different decision in their lives.

Sure they were Saved. Abraham rejoiced to see Jesus' day and saw it. Jesus Himself said so. The Old Testament people were saved by faith just like you and me. They looked forward to the promise of the coming Sacrifice.
We look back to the paid price of our Salvation.
We are all Saved the same way, by faith in the finished work of Christ and His death.

well open one, I am a christian and I don't look at a non believer any way except they are missing the blessings of God. I am just a born again sinner and I use to be like them. Before Jesus, those who believed in God were counted righteous. They were believers. By the way, are you a born again believer?

When I look at someone whom isn't a believer, it saddens my heart. I don't put myself upon a petstal to make me look/feel/act better than them. For I am not. I just wonder how they make it without God walking with them. I think some people whom didn't believe in God in the Old Testament are in hell, some people did believe in God and many have propheiced about the coming Messhiah so some had to believe in Jesus for it was the word from God. So some are and some aren't.

The Open One,

A Christ like spirit is one of humility. 1 Peter 5:5, "be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble." Romans 12:3, "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith."

Paul made it clear that we have nothing to glory in other than the cross (sacrifice) of Christ. Galatians 6:14, "But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ..."

A Christian realizes that it is only by the Grace of God that they are saved and have done absolutely nothing to earn or deserve that salvation.
