Sick People Have No Faith In God

My Pastors say that even if you are sick you should still attend church even if it is an infectious sickness E:G Chicken pox even if your child is sick and if you don't you have no faith. Is this correct?

Moderator - Only if you don't mind getting everyone sick around you. Of course that is false doctrine. Are you in a Word of Faith church?

I would not go near that church.
---John on 7/10/07

My mistake. That was Peter that was to build the church. Timothy was too sick.
---Frank on 7/10/07

Eloy, Was Epaphroditas void of faith?
If not, explain why he was il.
Why did Timothy have often infirmities?
Was he void of faith?
Seems I recall he was the one that the Lord would use to build the church.
Interesting view you have. Very interesting.
---Frank on 7/10/07

Those with the gift of Faith will always believe that God is able to do anything. They believe nothing is impossible to God and they strongly stand Firm on their faith. Even if the person dies they will still be thinking until that person is buried that person can be raised up. Remember Peter and Tabitha also called Dorcus. It was on the faith of Peter that Jesus Said he would establish his Church. Peter had the Gift of Faith.
---Marcia on 7/10/07

Eloy; once again you fail to understand what I am saying. I am talking about man will not find an earthly cure for some diseases/illnesses. God will heal those whom believe and stand firm on his word and thank him for their healing, day after day until they are healed. But when man leaves God out of the picture and tries to come up with a cure for some diseases, he will fail.
---Rebecca_D on 7/10/07

It is not true that Sick people are void of faith; however they lack the know-how of putting that faith in action. If one would humble themselves, repent of sin, turn from evil ways and seek God; then God promises to hear their requests and heal them (their land).

---Billy on 7/9/07

Rebecca, there is NO sickness in God, you cannot remain sick and abide in perfect health also. The Bible says "the Lord will heal"; no where does it say, the Lord will not heal when you follow him, that is unbelief keeping man sick. If Satan can get you to believe that you may not be healed, or even that God put the sickness on you to make you weaker, then he's got you beat. For who would go to Jesus asking for healing if they believed he may not heal them or that he is the one making them sick?
---Eloy on 7/8/07

Eloy; I understand what a person must do. but not everyone is going to be healed. I do not look for a complete cure from some illnesses using medicine. Medicine and treatments only prolongs it, it doesn't cure them. Just because a person is saved and abides in God, they may or may not recieve their healing.
---Rebecca_D on 7/7/07

.billy, the thorn in the flesh was PAUL's THORN, and NOT EVERY OTHER PERSON's. One common mistake for the unskilled is to misapply the scripture. Satan does not give a thorn in the flesh to everyone, neither is he able to do so.
---Eloy on 7/7/07

.billy, Pauls' thorn was that he was a defect: He had Jewish heritage, but cleaved to his Roman citizenship. Under his Romanship he persecuted the Church, then he defected from the Romans becoming a Christian. Now the Romans did not trust him, nor the Christians did not trust him either for thinking he was going to have them arrested and persecuted. To the Romans- "I am your friend, but now become your enemy"; and to the Christians- "Now I am your friend, but was your enemy".
---Eloy on 7/7/07

.billy, you are blaming the unblameable. Jesus healed every single person whom came to him in faith believing, the Scripture says "All", he does not leave people sick, diseased, crippled, cursed, nor unsaved. It is up to us to go to the healer in faith believing, it is not up to God to heal in faith believing, but us. Paul could not erase his history and had to bear his own reproach or consequences for his own bad actions everywhere he went, his bad historical reputation went before of him.
---Eloy on 7/7/07

.billy, If God acted as you wrongly say, then he would not be God at all, but instead he would be Satan. You are confusing the works of Satan with the works of God. Satan destroys, but God heals. Again, "A night thief (Satan, not God) comes not except that he steal, slay, and devastate: and I (the Lord God Jesus, not Satan) came that they have life, and have more plenteously." John 10:10.
---Eloy on 7/7/07

Zeal is good but must be tempered with wisdom.
where is the wisdom in infecting everyone else?
Your Pastors do not seem to be led by the Holy Spirit. I would seek out one who is.

I was at church one night and this lady came and set down beside me and she was hacking and coughing guess what i caught what every she had i was so sick i felt like i would half to die to get better i don't belive in going to church when you have something that other people can get If you have the Holy spirt you have just as much power to lay hand 's on your body to be healed as a preacher does
---Betty on 7/7/07

My belief in God is very basic: His primary desire is reconciliation with us sinners. All His actions must glorify Him and contribute to that primary desire. Infectious sicknesses are infectious, so our God-given intelligence ought to tell us to stay away from others. He is just a prayer away if we wish to commune with Him in our sickness. What has faith got to do with this?

Joh 9:2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
Joh 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

Other times God can leave us with a condition to keep us from being exalted above measure.

This pastor is guilty of spiritual malpractice. God can heal, but that is in His sovereign control, not our right. God may have His own good reasons for not healing someone, e.g. Paul's thorn in the flesh, Joni Eareckson's neck-down paralysis, Fanny Crosby's blindness ... Read Walking Through Shadows by Wieland and Ham for a good discussion on this.

Note that the Old Testament had very sound rules for disease, including what later became known as quarantine. So those with infectious diseases should practice that.
---Ktisophilos on 7/7/07

there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

Our thorn in the flesh can come in many different descises, including physical deformities, to being deaf and dumb, or even sickness. Believe me, if God has given us a thorn in the flesh, no amount of prayer will cause it to leave till God has allowed it to performed its duties. God bless

Rebecca, man may find a medicine to cure all the diseases that you have listed. Jesus is the cure all, and has given himself that man can be cured, but there's only one way to obtain this cure all from Jesus, and that is by total repentance. And until man does this, they will have sickness and disease. You see, Jesus desires for all mankind to prosper and be in health, but as long as mankind abides in sin instead of in righteousness he cannot bless them, he cannot accept sin. Please Read- II Chron. 7:14.

When did Jesus say that He would heal all our earthly illnesses, and soothe our earthly sorrow?

.billy, God spared righteous Noah, 8 souls, when he destroyed the entire wicked world. He is benevolent, and not malevolent. "A night thief comes not except that he steal, slay, and devastate: and I came that they have life, and have more plenteously." John 10:10. Yes, God created the destroyer to destroy, but many times the destroyer goes about as a roaring lion on his own seeking whom he may devour, and so his end is everlasting torment in the lake of fire for his unspeakable sin.

.billy, I am a thorn in the flesh only to the rebels whom refuse to come to the knowledge of the truth: but I am a light to show the way which leads up to Salvation, the healing balm of Gilead to all whom will accept my words.

I guess most dont understand that God causes all things, including being born blind and deaf.

Exo 4:11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?

God brings all kinds of conditions on His creation for a purpose. Some to show the great healing power of God.

Rebecca D

Dont let Eloy get under your skin. He can be a thorn in the flesh, which of course we need from time to time.. :-) God bless sister.
---Billy on 7/7/07

Eloy; you are not understanding me. I said that there will never be a medical cure from such diseases. Men and women have tried and are still trying to come up with a cure (without help from God) for these diseases. I am saying without God's healing they will not find a medical cure for things like, some cancer, aids, STD's. I know that God heals the sick. I am one of those he healed, many times. Do you understand me now?
---Rebecca_D on 7/6/07

RebeccaD: You need to check your faith. You sound worse than a cynic, atheist and a non believer rolled all togetheer in one. God is still in the healing and miracle working business. I believe God can do anything but fail. You cannot burst my bubble. I am rooted and grounded in God and no one can make me believe lies about my God. My faith looks up to Him today and always. Jesus is my Lord and Healer. Now and forever.
You need to growup and receive Jesus into your spirit and heart.

Whenever you are assembled together with other believers you are in Church. So yes your Pastor is on to something. However if your Pastor was really trying to say that if you are sick you should meet at a building where believers are assembling together this would be harmful and careless to the sick person and those who come in contact with them. The Bible states that if a person is sick let him call for the elders of the Church.
---Marcia on 7/6/07

Eloy; you are so misunderstanding me. I do believe with all of my heart and soul that God can heal and do wonderful miracles. What I am saying is that man will not find a cure to use medicines for diseases such as some cancer's, AIDS, STD's. Meaning there will never be a type of medicine that will CURE AIDS, cancer, etc. But only through God there is healing. Do you understand now?
---Rebecca_D on 7/6/07

.rebecca, you are not believing the truth, but you believe whatever you desire, and that is why you cannot be healed. Until you give your life "COMPLETELY" up to Jesus and trust "COMPLETELY" in him, rather than in falsehood, you will remain in your condition.
---Eloy on 7/6/07

Eloy; there will never be a cure on this earth to heal all mankind whom has cancer, AIDS. Christ said that all won't be healed. And he didn't heal all but only a few. That is what I'm talking about, carnal man will not find a cure for such diseases. They can't put faith into a bottle and tell their patients take this everyday and you'll be fine.

God expects us to use the common sense he gave us. If your sick, and are unable to come to church, stay home. Anytime I've had surgery (which were many) I didn't bounce right back into church right away. It's not how much faith one has, it is about time healing ones body.
---Rebecca_D on 7/4/07

sandra, That's just ignorance gone to seed. Your pastor needs a check up from the neck up. He/she has proven their lack of wisdom and probably lack of calling to the pastorate. You need to run away... as fast as you can from that church. If what you are saying is true, then that church and pastor are on the road to destruction. I would suggest removing and protecting your children/family from such foolishness.
---daphn8897 on 7/3/07

sometimes God heals and sometimes he doesn't. Keep your faith no matter what. Keep praying know matter what. Keep asking God no matter what.
God is faithful. Some wise man told me, sometimes we must look deep within ourselves and be honest. Ask ourselves is there someone we need to forgive? do we need forgiveness too from someone? Seek this first and sit back and watch the power of God work in your life. God's will be done. We are always being tested to see how strong is your faith.
---Lisa on 7/3/07

.rebecca, because the cure is faith, not just faith in faith nor blind faith, but faith in Jesus Christ whom can heal. However carnal man does not have that, for it comes through prayer, and therefore they perish.

Jer 32:17 ..there is nothing too hard for thee:

:27 there any thing too hard for me?

All faith is given by God & cannot be increased by man's efforts. You can't praise it up or work it up.

There is faith that God gives in limits - Rom 12:3. There is faith that God gives that has no limits - Jn 3:34.
---a_servant on 7/2/07

If one has a deadly disease (or any disease), faith that comes from having the Spirit indwelling - 1 Cor 12:9 is needed for God to bring healing.

Only Christians given the gift of healing have the authority to command healing, with the assurance that spirits will respond as they would to God.

Many believers fail because they misunderstand & try to command healing without having faith from the Spirit, & when they don't have the gift of healing from the Spirit.
---a_servant on 7/2/07

Sandra, the next time you are very sick but still able to walk, go to church and give your pastor a big hug and a kiss on the cheek.
---lorra8574 on 7/2/07

Eloy; apparently you didn't read my reply when I said it is hard to have faith, let alone keep it. If there is a cure for every disease, then why has it not been used on certain cancer, AIDS, herpies, etc. God is the healer yes, and he can heal people with diseases. But to say that a man (sciencetists, doctors) has found a cure for cancer, AIDS, it is a lie. I wasn't talking about God being able to heal, I know that he can. I was saying that a man will not find a cure for such diseases.

Rebecca, wher is your faith? There is a cure for every single disease known to man. God heals AIDS, cancer, broken bones, all sorts of things, and he even raises the dead. He is All-Powerful. He has completely healed me of many fatal diseases, and I have prayed for a dead baby which came back alive, and also for a man with aids and he is completely cured. You profess to be a Christian, and if so, then you should know that God Almighty is able to heal you.
---Eloy on 7/2/07

It is an outright false teaching. Undoubtedly it has come from the Word of Faith people who are all false teachers. We all have been given a measure of faith (Romans 12:3) and there is no such thing as "working up more faith". If you need more faith, then you will have to ask God for it, or you just will not have it. Scripture says all we need is "faith as a mustard seed".
---Helen_5378 on 7/2/07

I feel we should attend church until we can't anymore. But if we have an infectious disease we should not. God hears our prayers and know our hearts when we can no longer attend church. But we are required to go if we are able bodied. We should praise God, at all times. Not just when we are healthy and doing well. God is God all of the time and worthy to be praised even when we are ill and down and out. Not easy to do when we are down but we must learn to do this. We will be blessed for it.
---Robyn on 7/1/07

I'm sorry to say this and burst everyone's bubble. But I don't see any cure for certain cancers. Like AIDS. There is no cure, only treatments that help prolong it. It's hard to face a situation where nothing can be done and you'll always have this problem. I know, cause I'm going through something that unless God interveins, I'll always have this problem. It is hard to have faith, let alone keep it. I'm going to be a winner either way, I'll have my healing here below or life forever when I go.

I strongly believe that if you are ill and go to the elders in the church for healing, accept that whether you are healed or not of that disease that regardless of being made whole or not you must take your medication. why else was Luke a Physician yet he walked with the master Physician? God is still God regardless the soul is what matters not the flesh.
---Carla5754 on 7/1/07

It saddens me that a Pastor would teach like that.
I agree one should stay home if they are ill and could spread their sickness or disease.
When one is sick this does not mean they have no faith in God. One must stand in faith for the healing. God is our great physician.
Church does not save us Jesus the son of God saves us.

Church is NOT God. The minister instead can Go to where the sick person lays and heal them. I remember when the doctor would come to your house and treat the ill, now they want you to come to them and their treatment of you can be questionable, some docs could care less whether you are ill or healthy and they just want your money, which alot of false ministers do likewise. Your minister should Read- John 25:41-46.

There needed to be something of God to replace what had been taken out of her life. It really isn't enough to just believe that healing is available. One must take the Word as medicine, even if healed instantaneously, just to be rooted and grounded in that Word.

Carla, all the more importance to hear from the God of all wisdom and knowledge. I am sorry about your aunt but have seen similar when man takes the word of man regarding his personal life.
