Why Can't Christians Be Trusted

Why can't most other Christians be trusted? I only know a handful of Christians that I can depend on. They don't keep their word, they feel that other believers should give them a break on a price quote. They (incl. 2 Pastors) lie , steal and cheat MORE than my unsaved friends. Why?

The amount of time we spend with Jesus Christ and how we feel about the Bible, reflects what and who we are.
It also reflects the state of our mind.

If you find Bible time boring, it's full of myths and flawed, that reflects who you are.

God's Word and how we perceive it, reflects who we are.
If you don't trust the word, you will be found untrustworthy.
---Ulrika on 4/30/08

The untrustworthy are not spending time with Jesus Christ exposing their true self to Him.

They're spending time with men, getting farther and farther away from God. They have no conviction about going and sinning no more. It doesn't phase them to lie, steal, and cheat. There's no correction or healing there, because they're not spending time with Jesus Christ and it shows.
---Ulrika on 4/30/08

Christians that can't be trusted are not spending any time with Jesus Christ. They can't even hear His voice.

Remember, how you feel and perceive the Bible reveals exactly who you are. It also reflects your state of mind.
---Ulrika on 4/30/08

Lest we forget, even 3 years ago, bloggers disagreed about many things.
It is reliability not infallibility.

I trust the Mod's answers because I find them reliable. When I search the scriptures out on my own, I find scriptures that reinforce those answers and quiz answers.
So it's not to be disagreeable, it's a trust issue. If you read series after series of unbiblical answers, you tend to block out them out completely.
---Ulrika on 4/30/08

Imposters can only be imposters to those without the Holy Spirit. Imposter pastors will lead many right into the ditch.

If you have exposed yourself to Jesus Christ, Jesus and Jesus alone will correct you.
---Ulrika on 4/30/08

Jesus corrects by healing you, mentally, physically and spiritually first.

When Jesus heals you first, you go and sin no more. You are transformed by His healing that brings correction.
The healing and correction of Jesus empowers you to go and sin no more, become trustworthy.
---Ulrika on 4/30/08

Only those that have exposed their true self to Jesus Christ can be trusted.

That's why when I read the Mod's answers, I can see through those answers someone who is honest and has exposed their true self to Jesus Christ.
---Ulrika on 4/30/08

When the Mod or anyone else is trusting of others, it comes though. Those are the answers that you tend to trust, find to be reliable.

If you expose your true self to Jesus Christ every morning before you take up your day and nights, too, with blogging, Jesus heals you. It brings correction.
---Ulrika on 4/30/08

God corrects us by healing us.
That's what Jesus did, He healed first, then corrected.
Now it didn't work that way in the Old Testament, you had to be physically clean, and repent first, then you were found worthy to be healed.

Jesus heals first then corrects so that we will not make our boast in the Law.
---Ulrika on 4/30/08

Only those that are not afraid to expose their true self to Jesus Christ, each and every day can be found trustworthy.

Those that hide, are afraid to speak to God directly - like in the OT times - will fall into situations where they can deceive others because they are hiding from God.
---Ulrika on 4/30/08

You can tell who hides from God, who has no personal contact with Jesus Christ each and every day.

Those are the ones who have no remorse about cheating, lying, stealing as in the question.
These are the ones who make their boast more in the Law rather than exposing themselves to grace and mercy... exposing their true self to Jesus Christ each and every day.
He alone corrects and makes you trustworthy through His righteousness.
---Ulrika on 4/30/08

Why can't Christians be trusted?

Because they hide from Jesus Christ. God doesn't want us to hide from Him, like Adam and Eve did in the garden.

No. Jesus wants to heal our spiritual eyes and ears, correct us and we will go and sin no more.
We are not to boast in the Law, for by doing so, we lose grace and mercy, Jesus Christ.
We lose everything, including trustworthiness.
---Ulrika on 4/30/08

God corrects us by healing us, not rebuking us.

The only Way we receive that healing is by exposing everything about ourselves to Jesus Christ and not to man. Making our boast in the Law will never bring about a healing.
The Law is an unjust judgment that carries with it rebuking, condemnation and spiritual death.
---Ulrika on 4/30/08

The only way to be found trustworthy is by placing all of your trust in Jesus Christ,
exposing to Him everything about flawed failures, not being afraid to face Jesus with the entire truth. Until you can do that, you will not be found trustworthy.

When you go into a smoking area, you come out with the smell of smoke on your clothes.

When you go and meet with Jesus Christ every day, you come out with transformation. He gives us grace and mercy instead of unjust judgment.
---Ulrika on 4/30/08

I could do a good surmon on this one. How in the world does anyone really know who are God's people. The Bible saids it will be hard to tell the Righteous from the unrighteous. Who will actually make it to heaven? I do not believe carnal Christians, are necessarily saved Christians. You shall know them by their fruits. [Matt. 7:16]. One may have assurance but not Bible assurance.
---catherine on 7/28/07

Consistent Christianity led Wilberforce to fight until slavery was abolished. But now far too many people have followed pro-slaver Lord Melbourne's dictum: "Things have come to a pretty pass when religion is allowed to invade public life."

So when "Christian" politicians like the Klintons and Obama are given a free pass for supporting pre-natal baby-butchery and sodomite marriage, why be surprised when other professing Christians don't let their faith influence their actions?
---Ktisophilos on 7/27/07

Many POSE as Christians, and are really servants of Satan. The POSERS cannot be trusted. Many of them don't even realize they serve Satan (they are deceived).

Spirit-filled Christians can be trusted because the Holy Spirit inside them "puppeteers" them to treat others in righteousness (e.g., being trustworthy).

To find Holy Spirit filled Christians, inspect the fruit - Gal 5:22.
---a_servant on 7/27/07

Many christians cannot be trusted. Many feel once they know the bible or attend church, they are high and mighty. judging others and think everyone is wrong but them. They become arrogant, proud and boasting. Oh I quote the bible to everyone and say they are going to hell if they are not like me attitude. We should be humble, meek, teachable and above all else, an example to others to see. many times it is don't do what I do, do what I say and it pushes many away from Jesus Christ, not bring them to him.

Have found the same in many people who call themselves Christians. Have found Christians to be much more critical and judgemental as well. I have non-christian friends who have nothing but, would give you shirt off back while non-christians who have much shy away and say sorry but we just can't.....
Sometimes it is almost like people think if they are Christians than they are higher than others and better. But we are not. We are to treat others as God did. With love, gentleness, respect and mercy.

The bible said Love your neighbor as yourself. That is all we can do. It also said we are all sinners, the only one you can truly count on is Jesus, because we, as humans all make misteaks even to the ones we love. All we can do is try to correct in Love and share how we feel to the individuals who hurt us. They may respond, they may not. Prayer for them is all we can do. Right or wrong, we are all children of God and part of the body of Christ. God Bless You. ^i^

Brother Pete, I am glad that you love your brother and I didn't think any different. It never crossed my mind. Thank you for you answer and blessings to you too and your family.
---Lupe2618 on 10/30/05

Lupe, I forgot to tell you that I wasn't mad at you at all, just frustrated and should have realized that only God really knows what the story is. He is the one who I have to talk to on this one. And if your thinking what I think you might be thinking, I love my brother very much. This is why I say, "Let's move on now".

Pete, you feel oftened because I don't agree, but you should not be mad. You should be getting all the information you can and think the whole thing over and make a choice. I know what I said was only advice so you could see another angle and not just one. Everyone here wants to help you and not condemn you. Its just information for you to grasp. That is all, and I will drop this blog as you ask. My life is not like yours that is true.
---Lupe2618 on 10/24/05

Lupe, It's so easy for you to write these things and a lot of what you are saying is true, but I'm still a human being with these feelings and this is why God doesn't want us to treat each other this way. I guess you still don't understand. If it happens to you, you will. Please drop the matter.
---Pete on 10/23/05

You will get answers that Christians are many times bad or they are believers by lip only, but we have no control over someone else but ourselves. Who we are and our relationship to Christ. Would you ask God in prayer for a favor and on the other hand hold something against someone? You have to come clean before God. How could I have gained my sisters love, she was not going to do it, so I had to make a move and be humble. Not only for her but for me. In my heart my sister was more important then things.

Listen brother, I believe you were taken advantage of, deceived and robbed. I don't have it wrong. But what is more important, the things you will get and have, or how you stand before God? That is what I am talking about. All the stuff in the world is not going to make you stand before God any better, so why should it be so important? Your brother has to answer for his actions and not to you but God. Your conduct, or actions, and what is really in your heart is what counts on your account to God. You.
---Lupe2618 on 10/23/05

I wish more Christians were like you Deborah. I love you in the Lord. In fact praise God for you!
---Pete on 10/23/05

Lupe, Your sisters situation is very different than mine, unless you conspired against your sister, which by the way you sound you didn't. No, this was a deliberate attempt to steal from me. Your situation is nothing like mine. Go back and read everything I wrote. I don't mean to be rude but please don't read into someting that is not there. Sometimes when people give advice they say what they think is the answer from only their perspective. I'll leave it in the Lord's hands.
---Pete on 10/22/05

Pete, I believe an injustice was done to you and I don't disregard that. Although the situation I spoke of was not the same as yours, it is similar as there is more to it than I have told or am going to tell simply because Father has already spoken to me. That doesn't mean I don't understand what you are feeling because I do. Anyway, you were already forgiven before you asked and I have prayed for you.

4. For us Christians, our love is more important then anything. Material things will pass away but our love in Christ last forever. It wasn't about my sister, but about me and who I was and who I am. Part 3. I know that God want's me to forgive my brohter and I have, but it still bothers me about my inherantance. I know that I have an inherantance in Heaven, but now is when we need also. There is nothing wrong with someone prospering big especially if they worked for it but to steal and step on people on the way up is just wrong. As God as my witness everything I wrote here is true.
---Pete on 10/21/05

Part 2. Less than a year after my brother and his wife stole my birth right, we were in church and a man came to speak at our church. He was very anointed and full of the Holy Spirit. God showed him what happened to me. No man could have told him this. He hugged me and said that God knew the evil that my relatives did to me. My brother was right there in church and heard everything. He also said that things are going to change. I haven't seen the change yet but I trust in God.
---Pete on 10/21/05

Part 1. Deborah, I cannot believe in all your ramblings. I bet you talk too much and that get's you into trouble. When I said that you don't know the half of it, I know what I'm saying. I don't care if my brother get's blessed. In fact it delights my heart to see people get blessed including my brother. The fact is when my Dad died about 6 years ago my brother and his wife conspired against me and STOLE my inherantance through a shifty lawyer. As God as my witness I did nothing to deserve this.

Actually, Lynna, living in the end times has little to nothing to do with it, there were wolves in sheep's sclothing and people claiming to be Christians who actually weren't as well as people acting in a very unchristian-like manner when Jesus was alive and spreading His Word. The people JP is describing fall into the category of "high maintenance Christians" who think that being saved entitles them to all sorts of things (the "sense of entitlement" others have mentioned here.
---Heather on 10/21/05

There has got to be a reason He has shared this with me. I used to look at it from the perspective of being on the receiving end of the distribution. Now I want to be on the giving end of it. I know a lot of people evcn within our fellowship who are experiencing lack. I want to be a part of the answer, not a part of the problem (greed).
---Deborah on 10/21/05

He is able to make ALL GRACE abound toward us, that we may have sufficiency in everything and an abundance for every good work. The abundance is for every good work, not for personal, self-serving excess. One who believes that he is blessed by God will have no problem blessing others because he knows that he is blessed because Jesus bore the curse.

Part 5...I have heard it said that we are possessers of nothing. God owns all things and gives those things to His faithful stewards. The Lord our God is ONE God. He is manifested in a people who have all things in common. That is true unity! How awesome that is! Wealth is not the indicator of God's favor and blessing. What one does with that wealth is because giving is a grace (the divine ability of God).
---Deborah on 10/21/05

Part 4...Just as food goes to the digestive system as a holding place and stays there until all the members of the body have been served nutrients, so should the body of Christ function! It so strikes me in my heart that this "all things in common" and "no one a possessor of anything as his own" was evidence of the Lord Jesus' resurrection.
---Deborah on 10/21/05

Part 3... Neither was there any among them that lacked; for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, and laid them down at the apostles feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. Barnabas (means "son of consolation") sold land and brought the money to the apostles to be distributed also. What a consolation it is to know that no member should ever have a need! What a sense of being one body!
---Deborah on 10/21/05

Part 2...The multitudes of them that believed were of ONE HEART and of ONE SOUL; neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. With great power gave the apostles WITNESS of the RESURRECTION of the Lord Jesus (this commonality of all things was evidence of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus in a people and was the manifest glory of God) ; and great grace was upon them all.

By the way Pete, I understand where you are coming from. The early church gives us an example of what it means to be the true body of Christ. These people had just heard Peter preach the gospel. They prayed, the place was shaken where they were ASSEMBLED (not just gathered) together, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and spake the Word of God with boldness.
---Deborah on 10/21/05

Look for the blessing Pete. If you are fulfilled in Christ and don't need all the material things to fill a void in your life, consider yourself blessed beyond comprehension. Jesus is our blessing brother and He leaves no void.

The injury he received compensation for left him in chronic pain that needs medication. The pain causes stress and blood pressure problems that need medication also. Ultimately, what they received in compensation is going to go out in doctor, hospital, and medication bills. Short term pleasure but long term complications.
---Deborah on 10/21/05

I will tell you what the Lord told me when my sister and her husband won a settlement for a work injury and got a new car when I had none. He told me to rejoice with them because when one is blessed, we all are as a body. As time went on, I began to see in a whole new light how blessed I really was and am. That settlement came by way of an injury and, yes, they got a new car and house and all that out of it. However, I would not trade the health and vitality I have in exchange for all they got.

Pete, there is nothing wrong with having material things as long as those things don't have you. The Word never tells us that money is the root of all evil. It does say that the love of money is the root of all evil. Your brother may be in a position to help you but you don't trust your brother. You trust God. I am sorry that expressing your need to them seemed to go unheard.
---Deborah on 10/21/05

JP, instead of feeding on the unfaithfulness of those around you, feed on the faithfulness of God. "Dwell in the land and feed on His faithfulness." Psalm 37 is an excellent Psalm of trusting in the Lord. Despair is an enemy of God and He is coming with a vengeance to take that from you and leave a revelation of Himself in its place. He will put on you the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
---Deborah on 10/21/05

I believe my brother has this "spirit of entitlement". He is saved I think but he has no regard for me or my family. His wife is the same way and may be the root of the way he is. They have everything that most people would want in a material sense. One time my wife was crying to her about us not having much food and she said " O well, you have to do what you have to do, it's survival". I live in a trailer and he is having a 7000 sq. ft house built. You don't know the half of it.

Are we really in the End Times? There are some pretty horrible things going on, and prophecies seeming to be fulfilled. But these have been going on for two millennia.
And some here say certain other things will happen before the End. Jesus says He would come back unexpectedly ... might it be tomorrow, before those other things happen?
Is it right to try to calculate?

---Emcee on 10/20/05

There is also that "spirit of entitlement" stemming from pride and arrogance. The very center of the Bible says, "It is better to put your trust in the Lord than to put your confidence in man." Jesus never fails and He is always faithful.

JP, I am sorry you are feeling so bad. Yes, it is a sad day when even believers who are made in the image of God cannot keep their word. And I agree that there is as much partaking of sin in the church as there is outside of it. The answer is found in the revelation of Jesus Christ. We all need an inward unveiling of the person and work of Christ. Most are trying to keep a list of rules in their own strength and that is the reason for failure.

I tend to agree with Rebbeca D. A lot are wolves in sheeps clothing. They think that they are saved but they are not. You will know them by their fruits. Jesus spoke of these. The road to life is narrow. The road to death is broad. In other words quess where most people are going. Sad but true.
---John on 10/20/05

Because my dear young sister in Christ, we live in the end times. We are warned that there are many wolves, we are told that many will have cold affection. The word Christian means "one who is Christ-like." Bottom line, love your neighbor as you love yourself. God is love. When we are known as those who love one another, they will want Christ in their tracts or preaching on our part..but by our very lives as an example. God help us all to love each other!
---Lynna on 10/20/05

Maybe they may not know what else to say. But you're right, that doesn't excuse the lack of compassion. Jesus taught what true Christian love is and we're supposed to have it for everybody, regardless. Many Christians tend to forget that we lead by example and many people turn away from Christianity or refuse to have anything to do with Christians as a whole because of the actions of a few. Andrea ... we do need to follow what the bible says, but there are various interpretations. Some might look at point A first, and say, well from that we can fit in point B and then point C so the final meaning is X. Someone else might start at point C and then get point B to fit in and then point A, so the final meaning is Z. At least that is how it seems to me, and why others sometimes do not agree with my view, which is obviously the right one, since I am always right!

He has also offered to do work for people he knew didn't have the resources to pay him and therefore he tells them up front that they don't owe him anything.
