Can Christians Do Drugs

What does the bible say about smoking pot. I have heard that smoking marajuana is not wrong in the bible but I do know that it is illegal by the land of the law(in our state anyway) No I don't do it but I have some friends that argue with me about it not being wrong. Is it a sin to smoke it?

Smoking Marijuana is the same sin that smoking cigarettes would be. It causes health problems. I used to smoke frequently (7-10 grams per week) for a number of years for pain and recreational use. I quit once i got saved and turned from living for self and changed to live in the spirit for God. It is also illegal to sell or posess it and the bible tells us to obey the laws of our leaders except where it causes us to sin against God. So the answer is that it clearly is against God.

Would you place a bullet in a empty gun chamber, spin the chamber and point the gun to your head and press the trigger 5 times?

The same can be said about a Christians trying drugs.
Some may be immune to then or have enough self control to prevent the drugs to become their masters.
Other my get on deep DEEP trouble that will make their Christian life miserable.

One does not need to read scripture to know Marajuana is a mind controling drug not fit for daily consumption as a daily fix, but is a medicine abused by society to epease the mind of the ungodly and is now being considered in Britain as one of the biggest causes for Schizophrenic behaviour in society and govenment is now after legalising it for personal use Uturned for an all time ban when they can sort out the debt/war/mortgage scams they have Also Allowed.

I believe we are all blind in many ways. This blog for example list endless replies that are against marijuana, yet Google advertises selling Pot seeds above. Open your mind. This is what weed allows, it brings people together in love, not hate- like many christians are doing today. God didnt want us to live a life devoted to fancy cars and houses for us and our children. Live simple and love life and everyone in it.

I smoked as a child and I can assure you it is a nasty addictive drug howbeit, one mans food(so they say) If is most definitely poison to many. a very well-respected 19th century preacher smoked cigarettes. In his biography he said "everything he does, he does to the glory and honor of God". He was speaking of smoking cigarettes. I personally know a pastor who smokes right in the church yard. I am sure he smokes inside of the church in his office. Many preachers smoke. Would I do it? No--I have been smoke-free almost 7 yrs. Praise God for it. Very ugly, nasty habit.God set me free. I will stay free.

Nicotine, sorry about that.

nicotine is addictive to many animals besides humans. Mice will self-administer nicotine and experience behavioral unpleasantries when its administration is stopped. Gorillas have learned to smoke cigarettes by watching humans, and have similar difficulty quitting.
A study found that nicotine exposure in adolescent mice retards the growth of the dopamine system, thus increasing the risk of substance abuse during adulthood.

I watched an interesting documentary. it was about drugs and mind altaring substances used anciently to seduce and control their sacrifices. people died willingly. they were no longer in control of their thoughts. like prisoners, satan had no obstacles to overcome with them. they went like lambs to the slaughter. many people do drugs today. the H.G. does not dwell in unholy temples. You are on your own. Me, I would rather think clearly and avoid temptation then lose the H.G. to guide me.

In most cases it is for medical purposes. Montel Williams uses Marajuana for his MS. If one has MS or something like that and the only thing that helps is Marajuana, I don't see the problem. It isn't about getting high, it is about taking something that eases the pain. Like with me. Unless God interviens I will always have trouble/pain with the only kidney I have. There are days I hurt so bad I can't do much. I take pain pills to help ease the pain. So what's the difference? Is it a sin? No.
---Rebecca_D on 5/22/07

Robyn: if a person abuses their medication, that is when it becomes a sin. But to say if a person uses Marajuana for medical purposes, and that is the only thing that helps ease the pain. Is it still a sin to you? Just because a person takes Marajuana for having MS, doesn't mean they are a drug addict. A person on METH is a drug addict. Because after one hit, snort, or however they use it, that person is hooked.

I've read back over a lot of the comments here and I don't hear anyone mentioning cigarettes. I do not use any recreational drugs such as pot, alcohol, or cigarettes. But why would anyone want to deliberatly poison their body?
There are over 4000 chemicals in cigarettes.
400,000 die every year from tobacco products.
We've lost about 3,193 service people in less than 4 years since this war started.

Do the math people ... STOP using tobacco products.

Yes, your answer is yes most certainly christians can, and often, do drugs and many other things. We are living in the times of the careless priesthood, Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Let every man work out his own salvation with fear and trembling. I recently heard of a prophet come to such as these, and told them God said if they do not repent, and turn from their wicked ways, they would all die before 6 months. They all did.
---Cynthia_1 on 3/13/07

As others here have mentioned your body is a temple, and the NT is clear that drunkenness is a sin, and so would being stoned. On the Cross, Jesus turned down a substance that was frequently given to dampen the suffering experienced by crucifixion.

Marijuanna damages your brain and does nothing to help your body, therefore, nothing good can come from it. What you want is a clear head to fully worship God and to not lose sight of those in need around you.
---lorra8574 on 3/13/07

Why would anyone want to make their eyes sore/ red, store their brain with carbon monoxide, make their head lite, hallucinate, smell awful and end up with physiological problems in later life beats me. It's not good to smoke anything for personal gratification. The sin is knowing it's wrong to smoke drugs and then doing it regardless.
---Carla5754 on 3/13/07

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. The Lord doesn't want anything get in the way, when He wants to speak to you, with the drug, your mind gets impaired, foggy, not in the right thinking mode , so as not to know what is real and what isn't, and it isn't a good witness to others, if y ou profess to be a christian, God can deliver you, you have to want to give it to him, He has delivered people from a lot of things nothing is impossible for Him. Im a born again believer & strive every day to live as a witness for Christ. My downfall is that I smoke marajuana in the evenings at home. I know its a sin & suffer guilt. I have a family member, a born again believer, who has a drinking problem. In my opinion, jst because alcohol is legal doesnt make it less of a sin than smoking pot. Am I right? Isnt all sin equal? Having a temper, being jealous or having an eating disorder. Isnt sin, sin, no matter what type?
---Justine on 3/11/07

Its funny that people always say dont do that God says "Our body is a temple," when we as a society continue to put our bodies through so much. We eat all this fast food! Feed our children out of dollar menus, Work over 40 hours a week at the office and put so much strain on our mental health, why is it only drugs! Shouldnt anything that could potentially harm our bodies be bad... abusing drugs is NOT good for anybody's body if you use drugs just be disciplined...

The u.k. should not have changed the classification for cannabis.
