I don't know about the politics (though I'd be glad to learn). But in case a brother's life is in danger and his family's well-being threatened, I will pray. If it turns out to be untrue...oh,well. A little extra prayer never hurt anybody!
---Donna2277 on 10/13/06

Dear Lord,
I lift Mr. Ferdie and his family in your hands. Please bless them. Lord, I pray that you can strenghthen him mentally and physically. Lord, please protect them and let your will be done. Thank you God...I also pray for Indonesia and those persecutors. Lord please show them your way and let them have walk in the light. Please melt their hearts of stone and reveal your way to them. In the precious name of Jesus I pray,

Politicians love stuff like this only if it makes them look good to their constituency. Maybe I am tainted because I live here in D.C. Having lived in the third world I know injustices happen all the time. China is unique because most of our goods come from there now and if we rock the boat they wont be cheap any more, making the economy tank, making the politicians look bad so yeah we are not going to hear much about China unless you are Fulan Gong.

Randy, politicians and the press do not want to know about things like this. Not very long ago I (and I presume everyone else at C.N.) received an email telling us of a Chinese lady who was killed in custody after being caught handing out Christian literature. Did any of us read about that in newspapers or hear about it on T.V. or hear any politician stating how dreadful this was? I certainly did not.

Is there any independent source verifying this story? It seems like all I am hearing is a brothers friends cousin knows a guy who has heard info related to this. Surely some congressman would want to make political gain by bringing this to the attention of his constituents if this was true.

Before this becomes more than it is;East Timor is 90% Roman Catholic, with laws giving freedom of religion allowing other religions to worship as they chose.I must ask where is the problem?Seems like an isolated occurance.I would also have to question the death penalty, when their laws give offenders the right to make good what they did and go back into society without a jail term.Something doesn't add up.Before anyone makes this to be a terrible country, antiChristian, you need to have all the facts.

Precious Lord Jesus, We pray that You surround our brother Ferdie Flores. If this cruel act against Your saint be Your perfect will, we ask that You cover Him with Your sweet anesthetic as you did our first martyr Stephen.........may every ounce of Ferdie and his familiy's suffering be used to further the cause of Jesus Christ in East Timor. We humbly ask this in Your precious Name, almighty God, our Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth and through Your Holy Spirit.....Amen!

Heavenly Father, you abound with Love & mercy, we ask of you through your Son Jesus Christ to look down with mercy upon your servant Ferdie, just like Stephen was stonned to death, let your will be done for thy glory. There's nothing to hard for you to reverse. Comfort his wife and children. In Jesus'name we pray. Amen

3. It is wonderful to hear that, to a certain extent, the situation is not as bad as many of us had been told, but it sounds like a very volatile situation and all missionaries in that part of the world need our prayers now and on a regular basis. Thank you.

2. Although last week a mob of about 250 people did surround Ferdie with stones, sticks, and machetes, but the Lord intervened and the crowd was dispersed without incident. As of now things are calm, but could erupt at any time. Ferdie has requested much prayer. But, he was never arrested and was never scheduled for execution as was reported. Hopefully this will clear things up for you."

I found this on a prayer website this morning " That information has been going all over the Philippines and even to the States the last couple of days. Actually Ferdie and his family have experienced quite a bit of persecution recently instigated by the Roman Catholic Church. Several threats have been made by priests, but there has not been any physical harm done to Ferdie as of yet.

Hai This is Danie7338,

I am praying for you right now, that God will work it out for His glory, and Will strengthen you in this situation. It is my desire, that God should intervene in this matter with the Government, and God should do a miracle and release His servant, who is now caught up, because of serving Him...

Father we ask you deliver Ferdie in Timor, in Jesus name. We cover him with your son's blood and proclaim that "No weapon formed against Ferdie shall prosper, and every tongue that is formed against him shall be confounded"! We pray for Ferdie's family that you will give them strength and comfort and that Ferdie and his family will glorify you for years to come. Thank you Father!
