To be " Born Again " one must be baptised into Christ. Read John chapt 3 where Jesus is talking with Nicodemus.

hi Eddie,
to be born again means to believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ died for your sins on the Cross and to acknowledge Him as your personal saviour. Why 'born again'? Because when we acknowledge the salvation of Christ, it is like a new birth which takes place in our spirit such that God's Holy Spirit can come and dwell in our spirit.

1st birth is from out Mother.
2nd birth is when we become Christians.

When someone has been brought up as a Christian s/he had been born again. The terminology of "born again" as used by many is highly erroneous.

"Born again" as it appears in John 3:3,7 is a translation of the Greek "gennao anothen". Literally, "born from above". Jesus was talking to a man about the difference between being born to human parents (physical birth) and being born from above (spiritual birth).

This concept of being born over again or born anew is expressed in 1 Peter 1:23, where "born again" is a translation of the Greek "anagennao". Literally, to be born anew; "Being born again, not of corruptible seed (physical life), but of incorruptible (spiritual life), by the word of God (Jesus), which liveth and abideth for ever."
Being born again or born from above, is not something that takes place by

accident but is the direct result of believing in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice on our behalf for the forgiveness of sin and receiving Gods gift of eternal life. Note that a gift cannot be earned or purchased or it is no longer a gift. A gift is only a gift if we can freely accept it just because it is offered. This negates the concepts of DOING anything to achieve salvation.

That means ANY religious act or good work. Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
