Yes it is, but at the sametime the christian responding shouldn't only be responding w/ the problem or situation, but w/ faith & expectation for change. For example, if a person was sick they shouldn't deny that, but should respond with a " but by Jesus' stripes I was healed".

How about telling the person, "Don't ask." I guess this is something we're all guilty of ... I usually answer with I'm allright or tired, pretty good.

Whether or not someone actually wants a response is beside the point. If they ask they should expect (if not want) a reply and it should be an honest one. We do not need to burden people with all our troubles and ailments if they ask how we are. We could simply answer "Not that well, but others are worse" or "I've had better times but I'm sure things will improve" and only those who really care will pursue that any further.

No, I do not think it is wrong, but you cannot tell all your problems to everyone just because they asked you how you are doing, out of good manners. Maybe you could read some of Dr. Henry Cloud and John Townsend's books on Boundaries. Great books with lots of info.

Can Christians lie? I guess they can. God hates liers. We are not suppose to complaine, either. I guess, say nothing if you are feeling rotten.>>>>> If Believers barely escapes hell, then you can just imagine what the wicked is in for.

But is it really a lie, half the time they don't care about the response anyway.

The sin is when one intends to deceive. Many will say something that is false, believing what they said to be true. This is not sin.

If we truly are Christians we should not lie no matter what. If someone asks you how you are , & if you're "blue" then you can say "I am not feeling well today, but I know I'm healing..thankyou for asking." therefore you told the truth & was polite.

2. Many new Christians are just beginning in their walk with Christ and the Holy Spirit has a lot of cleaning to do. Many bad habits were in us but little by little the Spirit convicts us of them, and we began to change. many mature Christians already have changed and when they talk they are use to saying the correct words when talking. But we cannot judge everyone and say they have to be this or that at any point in their walk with Christ. We are all different, some more mature then others.

I believe that is a common answer from many. When someone calls and you answer, they always ask, how are things going? and we answer great, and later we realize we are not too great at all. I believe it is an answer everyone is so use to. Of course it is a sin when you intentionally lie, but just responding that way without an intent cannot be a sin unless you realize when you said it it was. Sin is sin no matter how small it is. We should be careful what we say but not to a point of been legalistic.

If you believe that Jesus is the great physician, and you are healed, give a good report..
---Lynn_Bedford77 on 12/29/05

If people that you know well ask, then give an honest answer. If they were asking out of politeness and didn't really want to know it is there fault for asking if they get a answer they were not expecting. Nothing good is achieved by lieing. You cannot know the motive of the person asking. If they are told you are very well when you are really quite ill they are not going to pray for your recovery are they? If you are asked by a vague acquaintance just say as little as necessary.

Actually you ARE fine if you are saved.
---Jan4876 on 12/29/05

When confronted with a question such as How are you? I respond with "I am blessed". Because I am, regardless of what I am going through with I am still blessed. Why lie or complain? Either one doesn't do a bit of good. And some people don't care, they are just being polite by asking.

lying has a demonic root, satan is the father of lies. we need to be real before GOD and man at all times.
Have a great day in the LORD
