My Past Mistakes

I was watching Paula White today for a few minutes & she was having a talk with others about how God forgives us and does not bring up our past mistakes, but if someone tries to bring it up then simply tell them they are the "Devil". What can we say nicely to them without naming them this?

I just read something last night, that I found very enlighting. Let God use your past mistakes to improve you, don't let satan use them to destroy you. I found that in a book by Tony Evans. So I have came to realize that if we don't sometimes stumble or have bad times, we don't grow. And we should all want to advance the Kingdom for the Lord.

Just tell them that it is in your past, you made a mistake and God has forgiven you and forgotten about it, and so have you! Then move on to something else!

Simply let them know about the goodness of God that drew you to repentance. Let them know what the Word says. In Isaiah 43:25 God said, "I, [even] I, [am] he that blots out(erases and does away with) thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember(or think on) thy sins."

Perhaps, I'm just a hard-nose, but I do my best to avoid hurtful, rude people. This includes family as well. I've been clean/sober for almost 25 years, and yet, someone will bring up my past. I do what I've got to do, ask God to guide me, and leave.

, nobody has made more mistakes than i have, but i would never slander someone for bringing up past mistakes. slowly, i am learning to behave among others.

Next time someone brings up your past, ask them if they can walk on water!

If you ask Jesus in your heart and confess with your mouth that you are a sinner and want him to save you and forgive you your sins he will. satan will bring things up but you take him to the place God saved you and tell him to get behind you and he will flee. God forgives you if you ask and he remembers your sins no more as far as the east is to the west. He cast your sins in the sea of forgetfulness to remember them no more.

I would have to agree with Paula White. It is Satan who is working through other people to bring up one's past. Because we know that God isn't going to and we also know that a child of God isn't going to either. If someone brought up my past, I would tell them to be quite, because I know from the depts of my heart God has forgotten them, and that is all that matters. And if they don't have anything good to say to me, then hush.

The first thing I think of is, "I'm not perfect, just forgiven." When they bring up your past, remind them of this forgiveness. Also direct them to the scripture found in Matthew 7:1-5

When you believe in Jesus as your saviour, and ask him to forgive you of your sins, he forgives you. You could tell anyone who brings up your past, the Lord has forgiven me. Can you?
It is not good to call people the devil. Jesus does not even want us to call people fools.

Just tell that person that you have settled the matter with the Lord and asked Him to forgive you and that you believe He has done so. Therefore no need to look back but better to look ahead and be of good courage because we serve a loving and forgiving Saviour. P.
