yes our church use Deacons/Deaconesses. They are simply helpers in the church whose job is to maintain the upkeep of church buildings, church cleaning, church lunches, baptismal helps, communion services and all the little things that need doing in the church etc. They delegate the work out to the voluntary workers below them. They are very important people in the church for the duties they carry out voluntarily.

You two have both been a huge blessing to me and I so appreciate your friendship!! One day soon we'll have that face to face meeting (in Glory), hallelujah! Good preaching, Darlin' Darlene! You go, Girl!! :)

I need prayer again! I have two job offers and I'm not usually good with making decisions. I have a meeting this afternoon so I need the Lord to show me which direction to take ... if either. (My husband's business has suddenly become very busy.) Thanks, guys!

Dory Lory ,how neat we both are your C-Net buddies .How about that ? Let me tell you one fact if I knew it you would never be left out of any of God's Kids Get togethers ,wish they could be for real . Shyness is a bondage and for anyone who has been delivered from it ,it feels like being let out of prison . Praise God !! Glory Glory !! What a wise and mighty God we serve !!! God can make what we couldn't do before easy !! Watch out ! I may get Pentecostal !

Darlene and Mary - Hey you guys, my two CNet buds are having a blog party and I want in on it! (LOL!!) Darlene, that's interesting about you being shy and how the Lord helped you overcome. I was always extremely shy too and in our last church the Lord had me giving the weekly announcements on Sunday morning. I became so bold I even got preachy a few times! (Hard to imagine, I know! LOL) The Lord doesn't like to leave us relaxing in our comfort zones, does He? :)

Mary D ,it is wonderful to meet you too , someone else who has learned what it means to love and cooperate across many Denominational lines . It's a true Blessing to me too to meet one of my Sisters-in-Christ who has experienced Aglows Loving Fellowship . I don't remember how long I was in ,several years doing different things . I loved being Prayer Counselor best . God Bless

All in all, the point is, too many people are cncerned about titles and the "I" did this, "I" did that. Let's be insignificant, Let Him be the One who carries a title.

He must increase, but I must decrease.
(John 3:30)

Darlene_1: Bless you Sis!! I too, learned sooo much in Women's Aglow! I served on the Board too!
(5 yrs). It is a real Blessing to meet you sister!! God Bess you!

Co-ach I made the same point previously about single people being disqualified by the rules of the no-women brigade. None of them commented.
---alan8869_of_UK on 1/17/06

Mary D ,ha ha how did you guess ? Yes, God did a real work in me through them . I was shy , and God put me in places to serve I would have to ,with His help , overcome that hinderance , a wonderful anointed time . I would have usually sat where I wasn't noticed much and He put me at the head table as an Officer . God knows just how to mold us to His use . I did so much growing in the Lord , and wisdom through serving in Aglow . God Bless

God's Word be respected. see Ro.16:1 - 7. Sister Phebe was "a servant of the church", not a deaconess. Phillip had FOUR daughters "which did prophesy" (as Acts 2:18), not prophets. Junia was a kinsman, also "of note among the apostles" meant known by them, not one of them (see the original). IF there were/are to be women in office over men, we are still picking to find scripture. If one's heart is led then say it was, but prove the scripture first or disregard it.

Paul placed women in authority?? You have got to be kidding. Ministering to Paul is not athority, its taking care of him. LET YOUR WOMEN LEARN IN SUBJECTION NOT TO ASURP ATHORITY OVER A MAN.(1 Timothy 2:11-12) Did Paul go against God when he said this? Are Pauls words inspired by God in which God wanted us to know? Do you think God was being antiwomen? Maybe HES still mad about Eve taking a bite of the forbidin fruit.
---Steve on 1/16/06

Look at 1Tim. 3:12. Our interpretations depend on the word emphasized. Some emphasize "husband" and so eliminate single people in leadership. Some ephasize the word "one" and so eliminate polygamy. Some emphasize the word "husband" and eliminate women from leadership. I tend to place the emphasis on the word "one" because there are several women praised in leadership in the BIble. And eliminating single people would disqualify even Jesus Himself from leadership.

Paul did not overule God? He was inspired you say?

Ok then: Since when does God go about contridicting himself? IF as some contend here there is no allowance for women in leadership BY GOD'S COMMAND, then how is it that God allowed Paul to put the ladies mentioned in places of leadership and authority? This would be out of character for God to do something like that.

Alan, Amen brother.

There is a Godly elderly gentelman that i have known for sometime now who has been devoted to GOD and church since his childhood....he has never been married(claims to never having a date with anyone but our LORD)are you saying he is not qualified to be a deacon????
I believe Paul was never married....would he have been unqualified......silly.....wrong interpretation IMO.
---co_ach on 1/16/06

Now, what are you talking about, Paul didn't overrule God on anything. The words of Paul in the New Testament are inspired by God.

Darlene_1: are you talking about
'Women's Aglow'? God Bless all!
---Mary_D on 1/16/06

Bruce ... well here is the point ... where did Jesus, or God previously say that women should not minister?
---alan8869_of_UK on 1/16/06

Mike since when did Paul, apostle or not, have the right to over rule on God? IF it is wrong it is wrong whether Paul says it is ok or not.
---Bruce5656 on 1/16/06

I will admit that Paul, an APOSTLE, called this woman in PARTICULAR to be a servant. However, it is this same APOSTLE that commands women to be silent in the church.
Now, which of these is an ordinance of the Church and which of these is an event that involved a PARTICULAR woman?

All of you who are going to interpret 1 Tim. 3:12 that God doesn't want female deacons please tell us why sister Phebe was a deaconess, why Phillip had 3 daughters who where prophetesses, and Junia was an apostle. And please explain the women who God even used mightily in the O.T. as leaders.
---john on 1/16/06

Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
(1 Timothy 3:12)
enough said.

No , but ,You need to get before God and seek His will alone for what you should do . If you are meant to be a Deaconess , God will tell you . I belonged to a Women's International Christian Group , some paid dues and others didn't , not required to , to go , but required to , to be an Officer; Dues had to be paid three months before Elections . God dropped into my heart to pay ,I was going to be an Officer . I obeyed and was elected .
