God Cause Bad Things

Is Job 21:17-21 saying that when bad things befall us it is because God is angry with us and, if so, does that apply to nations as well as individuals?

God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Looking at this fact, we can see from experience how God delt with Israel when they turned away from Him. They were led into captivity.

God's people have the scriptures to learn from. We should take heed.

Lord bless you,

No. Jesus talked about wars and rumors of wars as well as famons, etc., but He said be of good cheer. In other words, don't worry about it. If God be for you who can be against you. Read in the New Testament about the promises of God & see how much He loves you personally.

1. God doesn't cause bad things. People do. Just like a parent punishes their child for disobedience, so does God. He loves us. That's why he made us. He wants us to love him too. We bring problems on ourselves. He knows what's best for us that's why he tells us not to do certain things. But, just like a child when a parent says don't they do it anyway. And there are consequences. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. Romans 6:23

2. We messed up in the garden. But God loved us so much that he gave us a second chance. He loved us so much that he came down from heaven to the earth to show us the way. (in the flesh as Jesus) Then he died on the cross to pay for our debts. He suffered greatly for us! Rather than spend eternity in hell for our sins as we deserve, we can spend eternity in heaven with him. All we have to do is love him and follow his commands.

According to Deut.28 when we live for God we get blessed and when we don't we are cursed. That goes for us individually, as a family, as a city, and as a nation. That doesn't mean that absolutely nothing bad can happen to the good or that nothing good can happen to the evil but it does give us an overall picture. Job was well aware that God blesses good and hates evil.

Marie... the flood based on limited knowledge? Adam and Eve parables? Do you believe the Bible is the Word of God and The Truth? Satan is the god of this world. Adam gave him that power by sinning. Yes, God is in control and everything will turn out His way. He has to allow bad things to happen because He is a God of His Word. God gave Adam the world, Adam gave the world to Satan. But God will have the FINAL WORD!!!

Shall we take upon us to tell God how He should govern the world, what sinner He should spare and whom He should punish? The wicked are ultimately punished but they often prosper and flourish during this life.>>>>> Good or bad God has a hand in it.It is not always God that causes stuff The devil is also alive and kicking. He is very angry and knows that his time is short

I would not be too quick to blame all bad things on God; however, I would remind everyone that God flooded the world and wiped the earth clean of sinners, saving only those who belonged to Him in an Ark.

I would add that Sodom and Gomorrah were also destroyed completely to wipe that portion of the earth of sinners.

And in case you think that something has changed in that regard, Jesus predates Mary, He was there when the earth flooded and the cities were destroyed.

Why did God send His Angels to warn Lot of what He was planning to do to Sodom and Gomorrah?

The Archaologists have uncovered Sodom and Gommorah, I found it very interesting to learn of this.

Yes I believe it does. Look at what happened in New Orleans. I believe God was angry because of all the sin. and they used God as a crutch, only cried out to him when they needed him and when things were going good, they pushed God aside. God is getting tired of people using him, and his people. This world is just about over and I can't wait until I get home.

Bad things do not happen to us because God is angry with us. God does allow bad things to happen, but His purpose is always a good one with a good outcome.
---Helen_5378 on 7/31/06

God does not cause bad things to happen to people. People cause bad things to happen. Because we have free will, people sometimes make choices that cause others pain and suffereing

God is a loving god, and in blaming him for all these tragedies, we make Him the enemy. God does not cause bad things to happen. 911 happened because men had been misled and brainwashed into crazy beliefs. The New Orleans tragedy because of natural laws. Noah'flood was a story based on limited knowledge..they thought the world was flat then. And Adam and Eve were parables...God loves us, and man must become educated regarding these things. Limited biblical knowledge only causes heartache.

God is not ever angry with us. We all have a chance to be saved and repent. If we don't we will suffer the consequences when we die. God is a loving father He never causes bad things to happen to us. He does allow things to happen to us for his glory or for our edification. We live in Satan's domain in this world and are all subject to his demented thinking. Evil is always evil and will be punished.

In Matthew 5:45 it says, "it rains on the just and the unjust." jesus being perfect still suffered. he was human too.

our free will is not free.It cost GODs son his life.

Part 2: I think God has already taken control of His "creation" by recongnizing the fact that He made a covenant with Abraham and that it could not be fullfilled with out Jesus dieing for our sins. If that's not in control, then we have a problem. God's control over "His" creation had already been predestined, and WILL be fullfilled regardless or "OUR" decisions here on earth.
---Fred_S. on 2/1/06

Willow, I don't think thats what I'm saying at all. Gen. 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have DOMINION (RULE) over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over "ALL" the earth (INC. NATIONS), and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. God is in total control, but He elected not to interfear with our "free will" to make "OUR" own decisions while on earth.
---Fred_S. on 2/1/06

fred s

so you are saying God has no control over his creation.

Willow, God sent Jesus Christ to save us from Adams sins that we were born into (without a choice), and to redeem us thru His GRACE & MERCY (not the Law). Otherwise none of us would be worthy of heaven. God also give us our "free will thingy" and we can choose how we want to live. If we "elect" or "choose" to put individuals in our Government, who do not follow God, we are not punished for that.

I have a question for you.

If GOD just loves and doesn't Judge then why do we need Christ?
---willow on 1/30/06

Cana ... it would ne nice to believe that ... but who sent the Flood, and who destroyed S & G? So if this is God's punishment, maybe? But it could just as well be Satan causing trouble. And in fact most of what is happening is directly caused by man's interference with the planet's systems, so that is a work from Satan?
---alan8869_of_UK on 1/30/06

No he doesn't. He is a God of love not destruction. Shame on others blaming him for 9/11 & other catastrophies! This is Satans world after all, & God doesn't cause kaos. Read James 1:13"When under trial, let no one say:"i am being tried by God."for with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone.
