I Want To Become A Christian

All my family are Christians and I really want to be one. I'm only a teenager and I say prayers sometimes but I don't go to church very often. I would like to but I find it boring and people say God talks to you, but He doesn't talk to me why?

Three times in the Bible we find this statement" whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved". Therefore wanting to be a Christian you can call just like this. "Lord I am a sinner who needs to be saved, and I ask you to come into my heart and save my soul and make me a Christian" The Lord's answer is YES, I accept you now and will make you want my own(a Christian) we know his answer from what the Bible tells us.
---mima on 1/11/08

When one does not hear God it is usualy because there is sin separating God and us, we just really need to come clean with Him, then you will start experiencing Him loud and clear, spend time in His presence, Ask and you will receive, knock and the door will be opened, seek and you will find. Read the Bible every day it is eating spiritual food.

Eloy: A person can't get saved anytime they want. The people you know never felt conviction or remorse including yourself, so therefore it is impossible for them to get saved. Without the conviction of the Holy Ghost, a person can kneel at the alter as a sinner and come back up and still be a sinner. If a person feels any remorse about how they live their life, that is conviction. And you say you've never felt it? I know how I got saved, how did you get saved without feeling remorse or convicted?
---Rebecca_D on 4/7/07

Eloy: NO ONE IS SAVED WITHOUT CONVICTION FROM GOD. Convict is not just a word. I have given you scriptures and scriptures and you refuse to believe the truth. How dare you say that God doesn't live in my heart. How dare you say that I serve sin over God. You are the one whom God hasn't drawed to him, you're the one whom doesn't understand the truth. May I be so bold and say that you need to seek God for the truth. I don't know your heart Eloy, but from your statements it is far from God.
---Rebecca_D on 4/7/07

.rebecca, "convict" is just a word, you don't have to understand it all to know that you need him. I have given the way to salvation many times on these blogs. Rebecca, may I be so bold as to suggest that you ask Jesus in prayer to really save you from sin, to come into your heart and life and take over, and to really make you a born-again Christian? You see, you cannot serve sin and Christ too, you must surrender all of yourself to him in order to be truly converted.
---Eloy on 4/6/07

.rebecca, Jesus wants you to be truly set free, and trying to figure it all out will only delay that what he wants to do in your life. I know that many have been saved and are saved that have never felt any conviction at all for anything, only that they knew that they needed God's Salvation for their life; and so they prayed for Salvation, and God answered and saved them and gave them a born-again and Holy Spirit filled life of Christ.
---Eloy on 4/6/07

.rebecca, you over-analyze the word "conviction". The very act of a person genuinely turning to God and asking him to save them is conviction, otherwise they would not be bothering to give any of their time to God, nor to seek him out through praying to him to save them. There are lip-servers who only are hearers of God's word, but not doers, and these I am not speaking about. For any soul who truly calls upon the name of the Lord, God will in no way turn them away, but he will truly save them.
---Eloy on 4/6/07

CONT Eloy: Conviction is known in the bible as Godly sorrow. God's word tells us that Godly sorrow is what leads us to repentance. Ro 2:4, 2 Cor 7:10. One who is convicted is convinsed of sin or error. Most case convinsed is used in the bible, but it is similar to convicted. It deals with those who are convinced of sin. A conviction is a convinced conscience. The bible tells us that God uses the conscience.
---Rebecca_D on 4/5/07

Eloy; I honestly don't know how you got saved to begin with if God wasn't dealing with your heart. He has to draw a person to him. A person can't get saved anytime they want, they can't say Oh Lord, forgive me. Scriptures on conviction, Deu 28:65-67, Ps 38:1-22, 51:1-17, Lam 1:20, Lk 5:8, Acts 2:29-37, 9:1-6, 16:22-30, Ro 2:15, 1 Cor 14:23-25. When we sin against God, he brings us to the place of conviction in our hearts and brings us to the place of confession and repentance. Jn 16:8. CONT:
---Rebecca_D on 4/5/07

.rebecca, Convict and convince do not mean the samething: convict means to shame, blame, or incriminate; but convince means to persuade, influence, or win over. I already answered your question, what is necessary to become saved, and also that conviction is not necessary for God to save a person.
---Eloy on 4/4/07

Eloy; God does draw men unto him and if they reject him, they will stay lost. I agree with you on that. But what I'm saying is that God has to draw (convict or convince) a person before they can be saved. My question to you is do you believe this?
---Rebecca_D on 4/4/07

.rebecca, God has already drawn all men unto him by lifting up Jesus Christ from off the earth. He has always been saying, Here, here, here is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased- Hear him, see him, know him. If anyone reject him, it is not because God did not draw him, but it was because the person desired sin more than Salvation. Now noone has an excuse not to repent and be saved, for the Father has done all by offering up innocent Jesus for each person.
---Eloy on 4/3/07

.rebecca, The New Testament reads in Romans 1:18-21 that God has showed himself to man so that man is without excuse for rejecting him. "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all humans every where to righten: because he has appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he has ordained; he has given assurance to all, in that he has raised him from the dead." Acts 17:30,31.
---Eloy on 4/3/07

Eloy: I never said it was based on feelings. I agree, God won't turn anyone away. John 6:44. NO MAN CAN COME TO ME, EXCEPT THE FATHER WHICH HATH SENT ME DRAW HIM...The word draw means to pull forward, to make one move toward another. Job 33:14-30, Acts 16:14, 16:25-31, 1 Cor 14:24-24. 2 Sam 24:10. If you were not made guilty or (convicted) of your sins from God, how did you become saved in the first place? God has to draw you in.
---Rebecca_D on 4/3/07

catherine, Salvation IS calling out to Jesus to save you, and Jesus saves the one calling on him. You acknowledge that you are lost in sin, and confess this to God and ask Jesus Christ to save you and make you born-again, salvation is accepting Jesus Christ as your own personal Lord and Savior. But if you add feelings to this, then you profess a false gospel. I am not saying that feelings do not happen, but I am saying that salvation comes to people many times without any feelings. Read, Romans 10:9-13.
---Eloy on 4/2/07

My, my, Some people needs to find out what true Salvation really is. I am telling you it is much, much, much, more than just calling out the name Jesus. And I believe what Rececca is saying is, if you are truly saved you know it, you don't have to think it. Doubts Satan will hit you with from time to time. you must stand against that.

rebecca, You wrongly believe one must feel to be saved, but that's not true. Salvation comes to the unfeeling also. As I said before, "whoever calls on the Lord, he will in no way cast out". Whomever means just that, it doesn't matter how hard a persons heart is, it may never be pricked by the Holy Spirit, all the sinner needs to know is that they are a sinner and they need saved from their sin by Jesus the Savior. Many sinners are unfeeling, but God still saves them. Read, Romans 10:13.
---Eloy on 4/2/07

.rebecca, God saves the hard-hearted as well as the soft-hearted. Persons living in sin do not desire to turn to God because they are serving their sins. Only when the sinner acknowledges that they need to be saved will they turn to Jesus, and they do not have to feel any thing except to know that they need God and his help. And whenever anyone turns to God and asks him for salvation, he will not say No. Man may say No, and go to hell, but not God. God wants all to be saved and noone to perish.
---Eloy on 4/2/07

"Too many people wake up on a morning and decides they want to be a Christian.Noone can just decide to become a Christian..."

Amen Sis Catherine, well said. It's about drawing(the Holy Ghost must do this)& submitting(to God), Can't leave one of these things out,Most Christian ignore one or both,it just won't work, it's why Jesus said only a FEW will make it.Most don't take up their cross & deny self,Jesus said they are NOT worthy of Him. God Bless!
---Mrs._Morgan on 4/1/07

(2.)"Most don't take up their cross & deny self,Jesus said they are NOT worthy of Him."

-Many are called but FEW are chosen. Grace ISN'T a fairy tale, It's God's Truth & Love , Some want God's love and acceptance devoid of His Truth, that's called a fairy-tale. (Revelation 21:8). God Bless!

Eloy: so your saying that God doesn't deal with ones heart before they are saved? If yes then that is convection. If no, then I'm wondering how you got saved in the fist place. John 6:44 says no man can come to the Father unless the spirit draws him. Acts 2:37 these men were pricked in their heart. 1 Cor 14:24-24. Many will pray to God to save them with their lips but their heart is far from him. Mt 15:8, Mk 7:6.
---Rebecca_D on 3/31/07

Too many people wake up on a morning and decides they want to be a Christian. Noone can just decide to become a Christian. It is a sad affair. When you really get saved count the cost.
---catherine on 3/31/07

I am happy you want to become a Christain.Ye sthe Lord will talk to you and convice you of your sinns. If we just believe and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Need ask for His forgiveness of our sins. Yes you do need to go to church may be start looking for a new one.
---Lee5749 on 3/31/07

Rebecca, your wondering is vain, for we are justified, by the wisdom from the children of him (Mat.11:19; 10:25). Conviction is unnecessary to get saved; one only needs to confess that they need Jesus to save them from sin and to ask him to save them. Some are too hard to ever feel conviction or guilt for anything, and they don't have a clue what conviction feels like, but they still can become saved by the grace of Jesus Christ just by calling out to him to save them from sin, and to make them born-again

Eloy; conviction and being ashamed are different things. If God doesn't convict (pricked in the heart) someone of their then they can't be saved. Acts 2:36-38. Yes it is God's desire to save everyone, but just confessing with their mouth won't get them saved. John 6:44 says no man can come to the Father unless the spirit draw him. Acts 16:14. This makes me wonder Eloy and Jim, did God convict your heart before you called upon his name?
---Rebecca_D on 3/30/07

What did Jesus say? Believe on Him.
I didnt know we had to count sins? If I had to do that, forget it. I was told I was forgiven from the cross. My way was, that I wanted to turn to being a christian, I believed He would save me. That was it, and I believe it to this day.

*Matthew & is written:whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.*

I'm not saying that the passage you mentioned isn't true. But to take it as no holds barred guaranteed that anyone who prays to the Lord for salvation will be saved is to say the following passage is untrue......
---Matthew on 3/30/07

Matthew 7:21
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

There must be some middle ground between the two passages or we wind up deceiving ourselves.

Rebecca D, I agree with Catherine you are very right.
---Matthew on 3/30/07

Rebecca, you do not have to feel conviction nor shame before getting saved. Only acknowledge the fact that you need to be saved, and then pray confessing this and ask the only one whom holds the gift of salvation, that is Jesus, to save you. I know of noone that has truly asked Jesus to save them, and Jesus responded with, No, no way, you go to hell. No, because God desires all to be saved, and noone to perish, and his arms are stretched out still open wide for all to come to him and have his Saving grace

Before you can become a Christian. God has to first convict you of your sins. I'm sorry but you can pray to God all you want, but unless there is conviction you can't not be saved. Most of you people here say, just ask God to come in, say the sinners prayer and you'll be saved. How many of you was convicted of your sins? and how many just repeated after someone else?

Ask one of your family members that you get along with pretty good, to help lead you in prayer so that you can be saved from sin by Jesus and become a Christian like they are too. O' I would be so happy if any one of my family members came to me and asked me how they could become a Christian like me, for this is the prayer of every real Christian, that all their family would be saved and their names also be written in the Lamb's Book of Life.

First of all being a Christian is being Christ-like. What did Jesus do when he walked the earth? Did he go to the synagogues? Did he fast? Did he pray? Did he fellowship with his brethren? Did he heal the sick? Was he compassionate, loving, kind, considerate? What were his conversations based on? Maybe you should pray and ask the Lord to lead you the place where he would like you to be. But see how Christ was and you will be as He is.
---Yolanda on 3/28/07

The first step to salvation is to recognize our sin and not deny it.

Whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man also will confess before the angels of God. He who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God. Luke 12:8,9

Baptism is our open confession before the world. Baptism is obedience, confessing the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.

Salvation is a life and death choice.
It is Jesus Christ that reaches us where we are. Heb. 7:25

Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. 2 Cor 6:17

Rejoicing publicly with water baptism, that you have repented and want to follow Jesus Christ.
Repent means to turn around, depart from sin.

Closing your eyes is not Salvation. No. When you feel the wooing of the Holy Spirit inside of you convicting you that you are lost and will die and go to Hell, right then is the time to call out to Jesus to save you. And to forgive you of all of your sins. Yes. past, present, and future, and I will live my life for you. The Holy Spirit does the work. Way too many people do not know what true salvation is.

If you want to be a Christian, start by closing your eyes and listening. God is calling you.

Worship services are supposed to be a two-way street. Participate more in your church, try volunteering to read or some other service.

Start reading the Gospels. But pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit first.

Live like a Christian. Imagine that God knows everything that you do or think, and live accordingly. He is your Heavenly Father and wants what is best for you.

Romans 10:10, Is called the Romans road of salvation. I encourage you to find a non-denominational place of worship in your area where all youth come together one day a week, that is Spirit filled because today there are many dead churches, funeral services are more exiting than them honestly. The Bible says THE LETTER KILLS BUT THE SPIRIT GIVES LIFE. After, you must really seek a youth pastor, who really has a calling by God on their life, to mentor you in the faith.

In order to become a Christian , you have to accept Jesus. Jesus is God's only Heavenly Son. God sent Jesus as ransom for our sins. Jesus died for our sins and rose on the third day. If you confess with you mouth and believe in your heart this is true, you are saved from the penalty of sin which is eternity in hell. Accept Him and pray for His guidance in finding a bible based church home with sound doctrine.

Ann ... you are right that that taking the quizzes will not make you a Christian nor make a Christian ibto a better one. Mod, just a comment. Seems to me that almost anytime you comment on something, it's "take the quiz, take the quiz". People ask you direct questions, it's "take the quiz". Not everything can be answered by a quiz. A person says, "I want to be a Christian", you don't say "take a quiz". You tell them one on one what they want to hear. Sometimes I think you tell people to take a quiz because you don't know how else to answer them. My opinion.

Moderator - As stated I know others will answer Chloe's question and if they don't I will come back as appropriate. The quizzes were designed to answer the majority of the questions that are asked by the bloggers as we don't have staff to answer questions over and over.

2. Ask as many questions as you like, either here or within your family. You have a head- start on many others if your family are already saved. Not only because they will help you with your questions but because they will be praying for you also. Many people like you have no-one to encourage them so make use of what God has already given you. Im sure that many of us here will be praying for you also.
---M.P. on 2/27/06

1. I would say to someone searching as you are to pray and ask God to reveal Himself to you (even though you might not really believe that He is listening). Read a translation of the bible that you can understand. There is a huge choice and if you look at several you will be attracted to one probably more than another. Don't be put off by people who say you should buy only one particular version. Later on you might find you prefer a different one and, if so, that will be the time to change to another.
---M.P. on 2/27/06

CONT; I can tell that God is dealing with your heart by the way you asked this question. You want to become a christian, but don't know how. Jesus says to call upon his name and sincerly ask him to come into your heart, he will and he will change your life. God speaks to us through his word. I have never heard the voice of God, he speaks to me, through his word and through other people. Call out his name and ask him to come in your heart.

Chloe, if you really want to become a Christian, then God IS talking to you through the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. You have to make yourself be open to what He is saying- ask Him to make His words and His way clear to you, then wait for His answer. If you believe on the Christ who died for your sins and rose again and is now at the right hand of the Father, and are willing to turn your life over to Him, you can be saved. Just ask Him to come to you. God bless you as you take this next step.
