Sin will NOT send anyone to hell...The issue is, Do you believe IN the SON OF GOD??
---duane on 1/3/08

10? sin will send a soul to hell, and repentance will send a soul to heaven.
---Eloy on 1/3/08

Revelation 21:8 says "But the fearful, and the unbelieving, and the abominable, and the murderers, and the whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the Lake which burneth with Fire and Brimstone: which is the Second Death." Actually, ANY sin is enough to send you to Hell. We are ALL born with a Sin Nature. You need to repent of sin and receive Salvation through YAHUSHUA (Jesus Christ) to go to Heaven, and avoid Hell.

Lets start with picking on God's people as number one. God hates it you are doing to Him. Sexual sins is another one. Ofcourse, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit,[unforgivable] and blasphemy [ruining God's reputation] There are different types of Blasphemers. To get to heaven>>>Obedience,Stay faithful, endure till the end, stay in prayer, stay in love with Jesus. Do not be like the hypocrites who saids one thing and do another.
---catherine on 6/5/07

1- What gets you into the kingdom of God. Jesus said: "If ye love me, keep my commandments." Live as an example of Him, so you let His light shine bright in your countenance, be baptised, receive the Holy Ghost. Repent daily and NEVER commit the same sin again twice, so you can be forgiven. Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only. Live your life in harmony with Jesus Christ, so if he were to walk constantly at your side, you would never offend him.
---ashley on 6/4/07

2-You are cast out by Being hypocrites. Profess one thing and do another. Lie, cheat, steal, commit adultery, break the commandments God gives us and then not repent of them. You have not repented of any sin you commit many times in rebellion. Deny the Holy ghost. you know something is true and then live in open rebellion against that knowledge. there is no forgiveness for that. Jesus said: "to know truth and then rebel against it, it would be better if you were never born."
---ashley on 6/4/07

No, I cannot. I can only list One thing that will send you to Hell. That is rejecting the Sacrifice of Christ who died that we might live. I can only list One thing that will allow you to go to heaven. That is repenting and accepting the Sacrifice of Christ.
---Elder on 6/4/07

The belief we are to have as Christians is not the same kind of belief the demons have. The demons believe in the existance of one God because it is a fact. They know that God sent Jesus into the world to save sinners. It's true. But that's not the faith that saves. Saving faith says, I'm a sinner and I'm DEPENDING on Jesus to cleanse me of my sin because that's His promise to me.
---Donna2277 on 8/5/06

the demons also beleive Jesus died on the cross for our sins. this isnt enough. we must confess, forsake, repent, ask for forgiveness, trust in Jesus, AND live for Him
---r.w. on 8/5/06

2/... If this is not the "God" you are believing in then you have another "god", but not God Himself as proclaimed by the Scriptures. There is only one way to heaven and that is to believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins. There is only one way to become right with God and that is to ask Jesus to forgive you of all your sins and make Him Lord and Saviour of your life.
---Helen_5378 on 7/3/06

Brenda - It is not just believing in God.."You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble!" Yes catholics believe in "God", so do the Muslims! But, is your God the God of the Bible?. Is He the One Who sent His only Son Jesus Christ into this world to become a Man and die on the Cross for your sins, then He rose from the dead? Is He the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit -- 3 Persons as one God? (cont...)
---Helen_5378 on 7/3/06

Lupe - Amen brother Amen. Bless you.
---Helen_5378 on 7/3/06

Helen, we are under the same accord. "Faith" in our Lord Jesus Christ finished work on the cross. For without faith we have nothing. Still lost and without hope. Thank you Helen for all your fine work. I have seen you put so much forward and only hope that others will see something in there that will help them. All praise and glory to God for His love for us.
---Lupe2618 on 7/3/06

2/... That is the Biblical list of sins that will send anybody to hell -- quite a list. The only thing that will get a person to heaven is faith in Jesus' Sacrifice of Himself on the Cross for your sins and that He rose from the dead.... "The just shall live by faith" (Galatians 3:11).
---Helen_5378 on 7/3/06

1 Corinthians 6:9,10 "Fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, extortioners .... will not inherit the kingdom of God". Galatians 5:21 also says "Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like...those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God".

---r.w. on 7/3/06

Brenda, Satan believes in God and that he is the only one, but that does not save you from sin, nor does believing in false religions allow you to enter into paradise. The only people that go to heaven are the righteous by nature who never heard the gospel; the born-again Christian; and the backslider who repented or returned to the Lord.
---Eloy on 5/9/06

Any one sin will send you to hell. The worse sin that God hates is having the spirit of desecration. Which is dissing the Holy Spirit, or speaking evil of God's Spirit which works through his children. Please read Matthew 12:22-37. And the best righteousness that God desires is the sinner who gets saved and becomes a doer of his will. Please read Matthew 21:28-32; Luke 15:4-10.
---Eloy on 5/9/06

Nobody knows who will go to hell, I've had a preacher tell me that all catholics will go to hell and that man doesn't know what he is talking about, My folks were catholics and believed in god ' they are in heaven. Thats what it's all about believing in god and confessing that he is the one and only.

3. We denie and protest against all three forms of merit, declaring that the only merit we have at our disposal is the merit of Christ. The merit of Christ comes to us by grace through faith. Grace is the unmerited favor of God. It is an action or disposition of God toward us. We grow in grace, not by a quantative measure of some substance in us, but by the merciful assistance of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, acting graciously toward us and upon us.
---Lupe2618 on 3/7/06

2. This merit or works began at the Catholic church is is now in modern churches. The Catholics theology believe in three distinct ways, "Condign" is to impose an obligation for reward. "Congruous" merit, which, though it is not as high as condign merit, nevertheless is fitting or congruous for God to reward it. Performing good works in conjuntion with the sacraments of penance. "Supererogatory merit" which is merit above and byond the call of duty. It is achieved by saints.
---Lupe2618 on 3/7/06

daphn, I agree with your point. Grace is so important for us to know. Grace with works is no grace at all, because we would have a part in it. Salvation is by the grace of God alone. Believers bring no merit of their own before the judgment seat of God, but rest solely on God's mercy and grace. Merit is defined as that which is earned or deserved. Justice demands that merit be given where it is deserved. Merit is something due a person for performance. If it is not received, an injustice is committed.

rebecca, I'm sure Peter believed it was Jesus, else he would not have acted and stepped out of the boat to go to him. His failure was he stopped obeying Jesus, and disobedience resulted in his failure.
---Eloy on 3/7/06

rebecca, I know the occurence well, Jesus commanded Peter to come to him, and Peter stepped out of the boat with NO fear at all, and started walking on the water towards Jesus, then he stopped and doubted, and therefore he was no longer safe but began to drown. You see when a believer stops obeying the Lord and stops walking with the Lord, they can lose their life. Active faith is obedience to the Lord, it is "walking the walk".
---Eloy on 3/7/06

Eloy; first of all Peter didn't know it was Jesus at first, he thought he was a ghost. Then he said if it be you Lord, bid me to come. Peter had to have faith before he could obey Jesus. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Peter moved with fear stepping out of the boat, by obeying Jesus.
---Rebecca_D on 3/6/06

daphne, just as you have freely chosen to "agree to disagree", so too man is given free will and freedom to choose whether or not to be saved. Some say "Yes" to Jesus, and some say "No" to Jesus.
---Eloy on 3/6/06

2. 1 Corinthians 3:16,17;6:19,20; Galatians 3:3). "To will and to do" refers to, God energizes both the believer's desires and his action. The Greek word for "will" indicates that He is not focusing on mere desires or whimsical emotions but on the studied intent to fulfill a planned purpose. God Power makes His church willing to live godly lives. (Ps. 110:3). "Good pleasure" Because God wants Christians to do what satifies Him.

"Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; Verse 13, "For, it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." Although the believer is responsible to work v.12, This is accomplished because He works through us by His indwelling Spirit (Acts 1:8).
---Lupe2618 on 3/6/06

Eloy, We might as well stop here. This is an age old argument. We have a fundamental difference of opinion on what the sovereignty of God is, what "free will" is, and whether or not we have "free will" as defined by man. So, I will agree to disagree. Let us move on for this is not fruitful and can become contentious.
---daphn8897 on 3/6/06

rebecca, Peter walked on the water because he DID STEP OUT OF THE BOAT, because he DID OBEY JESUS. If he never obeyed Jesus then he never would have gotten out of the boat. There are too many so-called Christians staying in the boat with the excuse of "God's grace does it all, so I don't have to DO anything." Staying in the boat is not grace, nor faith, but ineffective and dead faith. For his command is, "Get out of the boat, and walk with me."
---Eloy on 3/6/06

daphne, working towards the kingdom is called "active faith" and "walking the walk". Salvation: We realize our need for salvation, we abase ourselves and confess our need, and we surrender and petition the throne to come and fulfill our need, and we repent or get right with the Lord. Then the Lord comes and saves us, and thereafter we serve him. For there is no saving grace apart from us doing our freewill part of repenting from sin, and obeying him. Please read Phillipians 2:12.

We don't go to heaven on good works. It takes Jesus in our heart and faith. Peter walked on water because of his faith in Jesus, not because of good works. Gal 2:16, Eph 2:8-9, 2 Ti 1:9, Tit 3:5. Good works are an expression of gratitude in the believer's heart (Jn 14:15,23, Gal 5:6). Romans 3:20-31, 4:1-22.
---Rebecca_D on 3/5/06

Eloy, I've read that scripture. It does not contradict what Eph. says, which is that our salvation comes from God alone and that there is nothing we did to deserve or earn it. If it says not by works, I'm pretty sure that's what it means. God is sovereign/in control and man is responsible/accountable. If we can "work/earn" our way to heaven then Jesus' work on the cross was either not necessary or not enough.

SLC Ever been to NY? I live in Finger Lakes area. There has been NO excavations for ancient civilizations here, or near Palymara. Nor have 100,000 bodies (or even one) been found under Cumorrah Hill.
Your founder was reacting to the end of the Great Revial, and the beginning of Finney's crusades in upstate NY, along the Erie Canal. There are many difficulties in Mormonism to overcome, and a "testimony" is another.

You got quite a few answers here, Sandra.

Rom 10:9:
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Notice it doesn't say, "maybe"!

Verse 10:
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Eloy, that would be correct IF we could walk perfectly. But Rom 3 concludes that we cannot and Rom 4 tells us we're saved by grace in spite of not being perfect! Look at Rom 3:20-24, 4:2-5,14,22-5:2. Then read Rom 1-8 to get the context.

Rom 3:10:
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Rom 3:28
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
---Jeffrey on 3/5/06

daphne, you only taking half of the Word, and not the whole of the Word. We enter into heaven by obeying God AND doing the good works of Christ. Recall Peter walking on the water, he walked on water because he was obedient and stepped out of the boat, he was saved from drowning, but when he stopped and doubted, then he began falling and drowning. The key is to keep walking with the Lord, and keep serving him with your whole heart, that is salvation. Please read Romans 2:6-10,14,15,26-29.
---Eloy on 3/5/06

Eloy, I agree that our works should demonstrate our salvation. I don't agree that our works gain our salvation. Eph.2:8 "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."(ESV) Either you believe God's word is true or you don't. I choose to believe His word.

I may appear to have a chip on my shoulder. Reading these blogs helps me understand 'where they were coming from.' I am completly severed from them. Here I find that conservative protestants, be they fundamentalist, Baptist, evangicals, are NOT monolithic. The study of theology, be it what I believe or other's to always be interesting. As to my religion, if I were to say it, I would be banned, it's the main reasons the family disowned me. I also note some others who blog here have had the same experience.

daphne, If we truly have grace, then we prove it by doing the same works as Christ, even as he commands. But you are free to believe whatever you desire.

Eloy, Yours was more of an extraction without reading the whole. If God says in Romans that salvation is a free gift of God so that none can boast, and then He says in James that we can show a saved man by his works, does He contradict Himself? I don't think so. The letter of James was reproving those who would say I'm saved so it doesn't matter how I act. It was not saying how one acts will get one saved.
---daphn8897 on 3/3/06

Eloy, The letter to James is not to bolster the "works to heaven" argument, it is to say we can identify those who are His by their works. Our good works are an outward sign of an inward grace - the "Work", as you will, had to be done by Christ first... We work because we are already saved, not to gain salvation.
---daphn8897 on 3/3/06

Eloy, Also, Whom do you think leads folks to find and follow that narrow path referred to by Jesus in Matthew? It is all Him. Therefore He gets ALL the glory. We are just blessed to come along for the ride. I wasn't part of a church planting team so I could earn my way to heaven - I did it because I am so grateful I'm His, and I wanted to be a part of something that will be a tool in His hand to bring many into the kingdom.
---daphn8897 on 3/3/06

daphne, your partial extraction is NOT based upon the entirety of GOD'S WHOLE WORD: "But be you all DOERS of the word, and NOT HEARERS only, deceiving your own selves. Can faith save you? Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone. But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? You all see then how that BY WORKS a man IS JUSTIFIED, and NOT BY FAITH ONLY. For as the body without the spirit is dead, so FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD also." James 1:22; 2:14,17,20,24,26.
---Eloy on 3/3/06

Eloy, Yes, His gate is narrow... and the world will know we are His by our works, but our works are not what gets us into heaven. Scripture is very clear in Romans... it is a free gift from God, so that NONE can boast. We love Him because He FIRST loved us. Our works are secondary/after the fact - His work on the Cross is primary. It is not my "opinion", it is the Word of God.
---daphn8897 on 3/3/06

daphne, you will believe whatever you desire. "How narrow the gate, and strait the way that leads to life, and few there be who find it." Matthew 7:14.
---Eloy on 3/3/06

lupe, my explanation is that not only are you not saved, but you also have admitted as such in reply on an earlier blog.
---Eloy on 3/3/06

This answer will invoke & provoke much but here goes. A child of God will go to heaven. Those who are not, will not. So, which comes first the chicken or the egg? God's children's names are in the book of life from before creation. We may kick and scream, run and hide, throw tantrums. But if we are God's kid, we will return to our Father and hold His word true.

SlCguy, "I was told by some family that saying the right words will get you to heaven,". While our words certainly reflect that which is in our heart, there is no script for salvation. We are to believe in our hearts and then confess. Someone who is deaf and mute cannot "say" words, but he/she can confess and profess. He said "If you love me,you'll keep my commands." It is a matter of the heart... then words/confession/professing and actions follow.

I was told by some family that saying the right words will get you to heaven, when I pointed out scripture that says 'all those who call me Lord Lord..' They bailed, typical response. I have been pre-consigned to hell by these people, along with most humanity, Catholics, most protestants, unsaved SIDS babies,'cults (anyone not them),' etc. etc. etc., They make Gods job so easy as they say who goes to heaven/hell, releaving him of the responsibility.

Moderator - SLCguy are you a Christian? If so, when are you going to forgive your family?
---SLCguy on 3/2/06

Eloy, I do not know of any believer that does not still sin. So, obeying God cannot be a prerequisite for heaven. Is God performance oriented? Yes, and Jesus fulfilled ALL of His requirements. If our performance has anything to do with salvation, then we are saying that Jesus's death on the cross was not enough... a doctrinally dangerous place to go.
---daphn8897 on 3/2/06

ONLY accepting Jesus as your personal savior PERMITS a person to go to heaven.

Humanity CHOOSES to go to hell due to rejecting what Jesus did to save each of us.

The question of obedience/disobedience means self-merit. It is like the SDA concept of Investatory Judgment, making Jesus' Atonmement contingent on our works.
---John_T on 3/2/06

Eloy, I saw the remark you made to me on the other post. Just because I don't agree with your unbiblical view, does not give you the right to say what you say. If this statement you just put down is true, then you have a lot of explaining to do before you enter heaven.

When you read John 17:3 you will notice that if we know and love God and Jesus we do not have to worry if we will go to heaven or hell. And it is true we have to accept the gift of God that is Jesus. But when you accept a gift from someone that you know, trust, and love it has so much meaning that the only list we can make is how good Jesus is.
