A Course In Miracles

Anyone familiar with "A course in Miracles"? What scriptures can be used to refute the basic doctrine? My understanding is that it is new age, but I know little about it. I'm concerned since a friend has been taken in by this.

We have no need for a teacher regarding what works through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is an outrage to recieve money for a course to teach something as holy as miracles which are not performed by man and cannot be taught of man's wisdom. They are of the Holy Spirit or are signs and wonders of satan. I would be frightened to learn this as it is most likely of satan. I would not want Jesus to say to me "I never knew you".

Let me put your mind at rest. The course is complicated, but its basic premise is simple: "Forgive each other. Love is the answer. Turn everything over to God." How is that threatening? Don't you Trust that God is strong and protects all His children? If this begins someone on the path to thinking about "God is Love" - THE FIRST Commandment, 1st Cor. 13, worry not. God is indeed in control. Deut. 30. Why do you fear? God holds all in His arms. Nothing can harm us as long as we believe.

You can also take course's in speaking in tongues.

Another book to avoid, which was written using 'automatic writing' is God Calling by Two Listeners. This book is actually available in many Christian bookshops. Check that one out on google. There's plenty information about it. I was fooled and bought it several years ago.

Donna I don't know if you will ever come back to this blog, However I just read your post, It is obvious to me that you are beautiful on the inside. Spirit filled, sensitive, compassionate, and intelligent. God bless your gifts.

A COURSE IN MIRACLES was produced by automatic writing, an occult technique.

In it says, "The Son of God not only can be deceived, but can himself deceive others."

Everyone I know who has gotten involved in CiM has gone bonkers.

#2 Christina. I can't tell you exactly what to say. My last post was just a suggestion. You know her, I don't. Has she had much exposure to the Bible? The scriptures I gave you are pretty much basic salvation scriptures. You may find others. Perhaps look for the book "More Than A Carpenter" if she doubts the divinity of Jesus. I will pray that God gives you wisdom and protects your children from these ideas which they WILL encounter SOMETIME. Also, I'll pray for the softening of Lynn's heart.

#1Christina, Lynn's beliefs are pure New Age thinking. Of course, "right" and "wrong", "good" and "evil" exist. Inwardly she knows this, but won't face her sin. e.g.You may disagree about chocolate ice cream being "good"..depends on your tastes. But if you're diabetic there's no doubt that insulin is "good".. you will die without it. That is the truth. Ask, "you may not believe in hell, but what if you are wrong? Willing to gamble?"

Donna, also, I would like to ask for prayer about this, for myself, my children and my friend Lynn. Lynn is very involved with my children and I am concerned about this negative influence. I do talk with my children about what Lynn says, and they all know Jesus, but I don't want them to be decieved. Thanks! and God bless you

Thank you Donna...I will read and pray about the scriptures you've given. In answer to your questions, my friend does not believe there is any morality, no good or evil, we are all the same and trying to discover/reunite with God within ourselfs...or something like that. She does not believe there id a hell and believes God is loving so would not send anyone there even if there were a hell.

Scientology is different, but just as dangerous. You might ask your friend how she knows that the spirits she listens to are GOOD spirits. How does she know that they will lead her to a knowledge of God? What does she think will happen to her when she dies. Heb 9;27. Pr 27:1, Luke 12;19-20 Rom 3;23 Rom 6;23 IJn 5;11-12 Jn 3:16 Jn 5:24 Eph 2:8-9 Rom 10:9-11. Look at these scriptures. They should help.

We do tend to get off the subject often Christina, but we usually come full circle.
I agree with Donna, this sounds like New Age junk. Crystals, praying to gods (small g). It could be a part of Scientology. Its my understanding that once you get to a certain level, you can do almost anything, so they say!
---NVBarbara on 3/23/06

Donna, thank you for your insights. I'm not sure others understood the question since not all responded to it, but to something else. I am seeking answers, understanding so as to help this friend who is deceieved. I know God is able and has the answers. Again, thank you

"A Course in Miracles" has nothing to do with Christianity. It is New Age spiritualism. There are lessens that teach you how to listen to spirits until you find your own higher power. Then you follow whatever this power tells you. Doesn't matter what or who it is, because all spiritual paths lead to God.That's pretty much it in a nutshell. The "miracle" is peace with "God"

The truth is the truth whether any man ever believes it or not. Your believing it is what makes the truth effective in your life.

NV Barbara, amen. Bro.Herb, all respect, those people aren't teaching how to receive the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with tongues, they are teaching man's perception of what it is and how its done but it has nothing to do with the real thing. The Bible tells us we need no man to teach us for the Holy Ghost will be our teacher and lead us into all truth. Faith moves God ,He doesn't always suit man's timetable but He still moves in His time. The person just needs to keep on standing in faith until God moves.

Nobody wanted to leave that night, the presence of God was so strong in the place...and those teens, the very next day, went to school and told all their friends what happened. They had so many wanting to come to church with them that they couldn't fit them all in their vehicles.
---Linda on 3/22/06

Yes, NV Barbara. It's that simple. I had the privilege of witnessing every one of our teens (and some of our children) receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues this past Sunday evening. You might can fool an adult, but you can't fool those teens or those children. They are looking for what is real...and the Holy Spirit so graciously revealed Christ in them.

I didn't need a course Herb, God gave me the gifts He promised, no schooling required.

Go to the search engine on your computer and type in "A Course In Miracles", you will see for yourself it is a nonsectarian, nonChristian philosophy about love and peace. Don't be misled by use of word God,it means nothing in our context of Christianity. It sounds like New Age Spiritualism.
