I have been having songs for months- on and off. Sometimes I wake with them, and it seems just like radio playing, . . . but there is no radio. Sometimes I find myself humming but it at first does not dawn on me, then when it does I figure out it is some old song, that I haven't heard for a long time, sometimes decades and there would be no reason I could pull it out of thin air. For some reason when I first started having this, I also oddly thought about my mom, who died more than 5 years ago. My mom did accept Christ and died in peace. These songs, though always seem to come when things are in question or there is some sort of strife with my fiance who I dearly love. They are secular in nature and always from usually long ago.

My son's father/ first love died 4 months and 4 days ago. After he passed I started receiving old text messages from him as new. I had a lot of them saved but the 3 nicest(most loving) one's came back as new daily! Also there were a lot of candles placed where he was killed. I lit one in the morning and later that day it poured down rain. I went to relight the candles after and mine was the only one still lit. The last occurance is I haven't slept in the bedroom since his passing except on this one occasion. As soon as I opened my eyes in the morning my bedroom door opened. It has never just opened like that. The windows were all closed and I know I closed it firmly the night before. Are you all saying that this cannot possibly be him?

No they are dead but you can try contacting them which is against God the consequences are as it was with Saul and other both ended up dead, lose your money for the medium(being fake) AND CONTACTING DEMONS INSTEAD ALSO THE LOSS OF... your sanity and your salvation doing so!
---Carla3939 on 9/8/09

I cannot deny what FAY and BARBARA have witnessed but the bible say to be absent from the body is to be present in the Lord and that settles it. You can't be both.

God gaves us dominion over the earth but demonic forces are active in the air. They must find a human to work against God's plan for humanity on earth, for they are celestial and have no physical body.
Angels (demons) can appear as humans but only with God's permission. Satan does have some freedom and maybe FAYE and BARBARA have been hit with demonic mimicry.
I have never witnessed this with the dead but I have heard demons use mimicry in Charismatic services with people shreiking, laughing, barking and wild genuflecting to mimic baptism of the holy spirit.
---larry on 9/7/09

demons walk the earth with satan ...seeking to destroy evil spirits who are much more intelligent than mortal physical humans ...all who have existed for many years possibly millions prior to humans - and many billions of them - they have powers to recall events and take on voices shapes and characteristics of those who once lived

BASIC scripture describes the dead as unable to communicate with God and dead KNOW nothing

rather than seeking The Father in prayer and asking Christ to remove the demons many choose to ignore scripture and dive in deeper continuously recalling the demon encounter and seeking more contact

my brother just past a few weeks ago and right near where he lives my sister lives right beside his home. They were leaving their home and my sister, her husband and mother-in-law see him walking up the hill and then vanish. Was this his spirit because they all said his name at the same time, so they all seen the same thing. They are ALL Christians!

I am a Christian.I have been one for most of my life. I taught at a Christian preschool for 15 years, I taught children's church,Sunday school and was a youth leader. I am telling you what happened to me has HAUNTED ME for the last year. I have been frightened to talk to my uncle who has been a Lutheran Minister for 30+ years. I feel that what the Bible says about the "dead" talking to us or coming back to us IS TRUE AND ISN'T suppose to happen! I don't worship evil or believe in evil things! But what happened to me NO ONE can TELL me it DIDN'T! I am FREAKED OUT. I DO NOT BELIEVE IT WAS EVIL or OF SATAN. I am trying to come to terms with this and stumbled upon your website. Your not understading at all of what some have went through!
---Barbara on 9/5/09

These verses tell us we ain't supposed to be talkin' to dead people:

De 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

That tells me all I need to know about dead people.

Ken: The answer is real simple if you think it thru. First, Jesus died on the cross & the Bible says He "was dead". Then on the third day, He rose from the dead, i.e., That is to say He came back to life. So, when the disciples saw Him, Jesus was resurrected (back from the dead, alive).

Hope this helps your understanding Ken. :)

Per Mima's thought provoking question I believe, in this one extraordinary instance, GOD brought Samuel back in judgment upon the witch & Saul (1 Sam. 28:16-20). God can do that if He wants to! :)

Clearly, the witch was horrified because she knew (like Oda Mae in the movie Ghost) she couldn't really bring the real Samuel back from the dead.

Christ was not dead three days after his death. He came back to life, not just in spirit, but also his body. There is a big difference there.
---Pastor_Herb on 2/22/09

Given how open minded you all have been with regard to the question: "Can the dead contact the living", and you all seem to agree that the answer is "No! Only the devil, demons and familiars can." Then I can only imagine what you must think of the Disciple's claim that they saw Christ three days after his death.
---Ken on 2/22/09

Familiar spirits are familiar with families.
If some family member was being influenced by familiars, or even possessed because they were not a Christian, familiars look for someone to immediately start tormenting, contacting after their host died.

Familiars can hang with a family down through the generations. Some people consider them one of the family, entertain them, actually enjoy them. They think it's dead Uncle Charlie sitting on the bed, watching them get ready for work.
---Michelle on 10/23/07

I used to think so, but like the moderator said the demons can contact u, but the recently dead can't. The only one who can actually talk to u also and ppl left out is Jesus can also contact u. so those are the only ones. And Jesus isn't dead but alive.
---ANN on 10/23/07

The dead are as dead as a doorknob.

If the living are now dead, who are the dead in Christ risen during the first resurrection upon Christ's return and the rest of the dead at the second resurrection at the end of the thousand year period, who will be judge from the Book of Life?

Who you believe you see are the people you desire to see and Satan's cronies will oblige you in any way possible to believe in a lie.
---Steveng on 10/22/07

Have to agree with Shira and the Moderator on this one. Demons are clever & very impressive impersonators-2 Cor 11:13-15, 1 Sam 28:6-19, Is 8:19.
---Geoff on 10/22/07

These are not who you think they are. They are called ''counterfeit spirits'' who take on the personality and voice and were probably the very spirit that enabled the death in the first place the Bible strongly forbids of ''spirit traffick'' they are only evil spirits impersonating the individual. Stay clear away lest they posess you.

Moderator is correct. Demons are everywhere doing the devils job. Ever watched the demons on tv telling the audience they talk to their dead loved ones. The one I recall is on a lot and she even looks like a demon. I would stay as far from her as I could.
---shira on 10/22/07

Do not say what God wants and doesn't want cause you dont know. The King James Bible is a poor translation of the real scrolls and many Christians are Christians in name only because they won't go back to learn what the original scrolls say and blindly listen to fools leading them astray. Dont belive me..great..go find out for yourself.

Religion began with Pagan religions and Judaism. Christianity came after that. Study history there is proof.
---Carrie on 6/12/06

I wonder if perhaps folks are putting faces to feelings and prophetic impressions, and therefore assuming contact with a dead loved one. During the first month or so after each of my parents died, I had an heightened awareness of things spiritual. For me, I believe it was God showing me things and comforting me to help me through a difficult time. He is so kind to His children.
---daphn8897 on 3/29/06

Either your mind wanted to see your mother or you are not a child of God and have fallen to a reprobate mind. THE DEAD DO NOT TALK TO US!

Eliza, you are basing your beliefs on fantasy. Let your comfort come from the truth, and that truth is Jesus Christ. He has the Power to heal you, even if you don't believe it, it's true!
---Peter on 3/25/06

No, however, demons can. But also, God can. And Jesus can because he died and was already raised from the dead for God's purpose. But never the dead, especially a deceased loved one.
---John on 3/25/06

M.P. The information I am getting is from books and websites I have read at least 20 books on the subject, go to your library and check them out. also the Near Death Experience Research Foundation.
---eliza4969 on 3/25/06

John; I was meaning that it is a sin for one to conjour up a dead person, to contact with the dead. When Jesus raised people up, they were no longer dead, for they were much alive. It is possible to contact the dead, but the bible tells us not to. I believe that we would be contacting demons. Lev 19:31, 20:6-7, Due18:10-11. Using a Familar spirit is called witchcraft.

Eliza are there really " millions of people that have died and crossed over and went to heaven and has met loved ones and also met Jesus and the usual thing that happens to them is he tells them its not their time and asks for them to go back and finish their life." I've read of occasional ones now and again making this claim but 'millions'? Where does this information come from? Are all these deaths and resurrections recorded?
---M.P. on 3/25/06

Jerry and Rebecca. There seems to be exceptions to the Scriptures that say the dead don't come back again and have no more portion for any thing under the sun. There were many who were raised from the dead who certainly did. So I must believe those Scriptures to be a generalization of the natural way of things and not an absolute. God can and does intervene on special occasions.
---john on 3/25/06

Eliza; I believe your comment would fall into the catagory of the many mysteries of God. I have heard my mom's voice many of times. She died 5 years ago. I believe that God lets us know that our loved ones that are with him have not forgotten us.
---Rebecca_D on 3/24/06

I know what the bible says but God also has kept some things hidden. So how do you explain the millions of people that have died and crossed over and went to heaven and has met loved ones and also met Jesus and the usual thing that happens to them is he tells them its not there time and asks for them to go back and finish their life.

The Bible is quite specific on this point. "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion forever in any thing that is done under the sun." (Ecc 9:5,6)
---jerry6593 on 3/24/06

The bible says the dead know nothing. Ec 9:5-6, also the bible says the dead can't come up no more Jb 7:9-10.
---Rebecca_D on 3/23/06

Eliza, It was just a dream. I know that it seemed so real to you. Your subconsceious wanted to be reassured that what you wanted, would be fullfilled. That's all. The same thing happened to my wife when her dad passed on. Time to move on in the grace and knowledge of Jesus.
---Peter on 3/23/06

Another thought on this is that not only demons but angels can visit us. I can't say recently deceased but the angel in Revelation warned John not to worship him as he was a brother, a prophet. That angelic presence you feel some times just might be angel or demon depending on your status with God. Also, when Peter came to the house after the angel loosed him from prison and knocked on the door they said it must be his angel. They may have expected a visit from one they believed to be recently deceased.

Dearest brethren; while not exactly the same form of dead, this type can and does every day. Paul wrote, Know ye not that ye were dead in your sins?. It may have been Peter but the fact remains those who are dead spiritually are around us every day. Not only do they contact us, but they kind of in a sense bring to light the movie" Night of the Living Dead."
---Shari on 3/22/06

Communication with the dead is seen several times in the Bible. The Bible tells us not to communicate with the dead so if it were not possible then why would God tell us not to do it? If it is you who instigates the communication it is called necromancy.
---john on 3/22/06

No they Can't, NEVER, only the work of the devil can do that
---Cythnia on 3/22/06

Eliza 'she' came to cause confusion in your mind and 'she' was successful otherwise you would not be writing such things on a Christian website. Someone newly bereaved is very vulnerable, especially if the person's faith is weak. Demons know exactly who to attack in such situations. Read about the rich man and Lazarus. This shows that the dead are not allowed back with any kind of message.

Permit me to ask a question. After reading first Samuel chapter 28, what do you believe? Did the witch of Endor call up the spirit of the real Samuel. Or was the spirit demonic, a demon pertaining to be Samuel? In any event we are instructed in the Bible not to contact those who have a familiar spirit.
---mima on 3/22/06

LEONA, This is very dangerous ground. The answer is definately NO! The dead CAN NOT contact us. In fact, this concept is not in the Bible. Once you pass on, that's it. The Moderator is correct.
---Peter on 3/22/06

My Mother came to me in a dream the day of her funeral (it was no demon) there were clouds and the sky all around her she wore a white gown she floated down to me and communicated to me by telathapy (with our minds, no mouths moving, but I heard her voice) she passed at age 64 but her appearance was around 30ish. I felt she was completely in peace and love came from her. she came to make sure that I would take care of my dad.
