If a person professes faith in God but their actions show that their faith is really in something else and it is revealed then one may think that person lost their faith. When really they did not loose their faith they had it all along. Their faith was in something other then Christ. You may have been decieved in judgeing their heart and thinking they were saved and they may have been deceived. But God is never deceived which is why his Word says judge nothing before the time.

you also conveniently left out the word "empty" to make the scripture fit your doctrine when you said "that he found swept and garnished, meaning God lives there now." I personally would not associate the word "empty" with a place that God lives.

After looking I see that it is another NIV issue. KJV uses "empty" and most other translations use "unoccupied". NIV leaves that part out. Gotta love those versions that force their interpretations.

If we believe or are saved, our fruit will reveal we are of Christ, through suffering for Christ's sake or good works. If we are unbelieving or unsaved, Jesus is faithful to wait for us to believe or accept His gift of salvation.
---jamin on 2/21/07

2 Tim 2:12-13 Paul is showing Christ responses to our actions.

verse 12: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him
Our suffering with Him, means we reign with Him.

verse 13: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful

God is not into giving up on us, even if we give up(believe not) on Him. "He abideth faithful"

Now works do not save us, but show that we are saved.

And yes, there are a fakers. I'm not referring to them.

Lisa, you said "'For it is impossilbe for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift,' yes, it is impossible to crucify Christ again."

But the Bible doesn't say it's "impossible to crucify Christ again."

seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame-Hebrews 6:6.

Could it be He feels those nails every time we sin? We don't want to do that.

Linda7548. Falling from Grace means to go back to the Law. Grace is walking in the Spirit..Galatians Paul said,
Having begun in the Spirit(Our New Born Again man in Christ),are you now being made perfect by the flesh(law keepers, still hoping to clean up the old adam that was actually crucified with Christ Romans 6).
He said they had "fallen from Grace". Grace is life at the Cross. *Have ye suffered so much in vain* is key here too. We're called to be partakers of the sufferings of Christ.
---kathr4453 on 12/30/06

I wonder what it means to fall from grace, could it be ,that they having been saved from grace through faith now think they have to work to stay saved and stop trusting in Jesus death burial and resurection .we all sin and if we say we have no sin we are a liar .But knowing we are secure and can run to Jesus we abide in Him and His Words in us and we change not because we fear being kicked out but because we know we are so loved we will never be kicked out . Jesus loves us we love Him back and obey Him .

Hebrews 3:15
While it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.(the Wilderness).
This applies to those who did not cross the Jordan and enter into the land of Promise. They died in their sins in the wilderness. They heard, they saw miracles and the Glory of God for 40 years, still had "NO FAITH" to cross. They didn't lose their salvation, they never had it. The Jordan represents the CROSS,the same way we identify in His death and resurrection.

2 Timothy 1:9Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

10But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

Since these verses came first, I believe it does, Yes!

1Tim 2:13 For Adam was the first formed, then Eve.
Actually, Eve was first, Eve had no children with Adam. All 13 of Eve's children were conceived of the Holy Ghost. As Jesus was to Mary. Read Revelations 12, this is the true story of Eve, first mother of Jesus and of the 12 Apostles.

I wonder about the people who think you cannot repent after sinning ,if they really believe they themselves have stopped sinning ,or do they have good excusable reasons for their sin and others do not .do they have a gauge about which sins can be repented for .which are forgivegable and cleansable by the blood of Jesus and which ones the blood of Jesus cannot clean .Do they have a number after which a person reached it ,thats it .

I have read in a number of places and do not remember where but I believe it .The jews were succumbing to pressure and returning to sacrificing animals for their sins ,thereby trampling Jesus blood and by going back under the law instead of grace ,they remove themself from grace and the blood of Jesus ,trusting instead in the law and sacrifices .It is impossible to bring these people to repentace while they are living under the law again .

Thank you Linda, that is my purpose on security. That we walk by faith in Jesus Christ. Let me give you my opinon. Out of all religions, Christianity is the only religion, and I mean only, that puts their faith in the grace of God and Jesus sacrafice on the cross. What He has already done for us. In Biblical Christianity, forgiveness is based upon the death of Christ on the cross as a past action.
---lisa on 12/29/06

2. Christ died for our sins so that once a person receives Christ as his or her Savior, all of his sins are forgiven and each one is totally guaranteed a place in Heaven (John 5:24; 6:47; 1 John 5:13. People, Christians themselves here on this site want to put Christians in the same level as all other religions which teach salvation by works. If we are to follow their teachings, we are no better then any other religion and the sacrafice of Christ for our eternal security would be worthless, why?
---lisa on 12/29/06

3. because it would be by our own acts that would secure our salvation, Biblical Christianity teaches that it rest on faith in the finish work of Christ. No other religion has what we have. Islam, Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, Hindus, and even Catholics follow the teachings of works. What makes us different is our faith in Christ. Not works, not the church, not anything we ever do will ever be sufficient to earn us what Christ died for. It is our faith in Christ and His sacrafice that makes us different.

Geoff, when you reject God's word, it does not mean you are saved, it only means that you reject the truth of Scripture. Those Hebrews had heard the word, and were repeating the sins of those who died in the wilderness after seeing the miracles performed through Moses and Aaron and hearing the voice of God at Sinai. We have a lot of those in church right to this day. They sing and give and speak religiously but in their heart they reject the truth. that is why the passages begans with,

My Dear Lisa, your comments seem 1-sided in that they concern those who are not interested in coming to Christ. You answered your own Q on how they come to Him-Jn 6:44, 65, but don't miss v37: "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and HIM THAT COMETH TO ME I will in no wise cast out." Coming to Jesus is a gift and we must accept it to receive it. Notice we can reject it-Heb 6:4-6. The other side is we can walk away, although I can't think of a good reason to do so.
---Geoff on 12/28/06

lisa, you've told us how to copy 'context' out of chapters, books. It's hard work, being very meticulous not to misspell words. It must wear you out. Plagiarism is throwing a few of your own words in with an author's work. "What this is saying here....."then copying word for word what they have said, then a few more of your own words. When you are not meticulous with the 'copy', 'lisa's words' do not line up with the writing style of the author. Acknowledge author's name and title.

Geoff, how does a person lost have a love for Christ? How can he possibly love someone that he doesn't see, hear, understand and is spiritually dead to? How does he love someone that he has emnity against? How does a person that his father is the devil, love Christ? How does a person have faith in Christ before he is born again? How? Geoff, a lost person cannot love someone that he is running away from, instead of towards Christ. Can you explain?
---lisa on 12/28/06

2. How can I have a distorted view of God when it is you who has one in your answer that God takes risk? I know you know about God because I have seen many of your answers in the SDA blogs. But this has nothing to do with that. The Bible clearly says prior to salvation, all people are dead in sin-spiritually dead,(Ephesians 2:1-3). In this state of death, the sinner is utterly unable to respond to any spiritual stimulus and therefore unable to love God, obey Him, or please Him in any way.

3. Scripture says the mind of every unbeliever "Is hostile" toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so; and thos who are in the flesh cannot please God" (Romans 8:7-8). That describes a state of total hopelessness: Spiritual death. Jesus says, No one can come to Me, unless the Father who sent Me draws him" I understand that in Scripture also many passages seem to imply that your free will can get you in.
---lisa on 12/28/06

4. Most of the passages I quote or from Jesus, In the Gospel of John, Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father"(John 6:65). If you look closely at this verse, the first element of this teaching is a universal negative. The words "No one" are all-inclusive. They allow for no exception apart from the exceptions Jesus adds. The next word is crucial. It is the word "can." This has to do with ability, not permission.
---lisa on 12/28/06

5. Geoff, when I said you needed to look at the nature, character and attributes of God first is because when we have those views of all of who He is, we are able to reconcile so many passages. They always remain the same. We do have free will to a certain extend, but God also has free will to do what He desires and His will is Sovereign and ours is not. We are the lump of clay Geoff. The lump does not tell the Potter what to do.

Lisa said "if man is autonomous, God cannot possibly be sovereign." Now I understand why you have a distorted picture of God. Love only exist where there's trust. Are you telling me the only way you won't steal from me is if I physically restrain you? Love is a choice. Perhaps you want to rethink your relationship with God. He wants you to choose to obey Him, not because you have to, but because you have the freedom not to, but you obey because you love Him. That's real love, not forced love

Hello Mima. Is first Tim 2: 13 proof of osas. Osas is not found in the bible. Neither once save or even always saved. Eternal security is a term not found in the bible. Why not prove things from words already written. 1Tim 2:13 is about the creation order as Adam was first formed. And the bible was first formed before any of these terms were made up. Making something up and using the bible to make it fit is the wrong direction.
---jhonny on 12/27/06

Geoff, I don't know which God you are talking about when you make statements. You say that God takes a "risk," Please Geoff, you do not even believe that I hope. That is not the God of Scripture. You make Him a man. A man that is taking a chance on people. God knows all things past present and future, He is Omniscience. He knows all so anything you will do, He already knew before you thought it.
---lisa on 12/27/06

2. Geoff, God is not a gambler. He already knows because He is God. When you speak like that you confuse others around you into believing that God takes a chance on people and hopes that maybe the people will choose Him. Now how silly is that to speak about God in that way? Poor God, you might not love Him and reject Him and there is nothing He can do because for the moment you are sovereing and He is just a man waiting for man to please except His Son.

3. An autonomous person would be answerable to no one. He would have no governor, least a sovereing governor. It is logically impossible to have a sovereing God existing at the same time as an autonomous creature Geoff. The two are incompatible. If God is sovereign, man cannot possibly be autonomous. If man is autonomous, God cannot possibly be sovereign, these would be a contradiction. So I believe you are very wrong in your studies and need to study the attributes, nature and Character of God.
---lisa on 12/27/06

4. Here is a statement I read, "A christian who said, "God's sovereignty can never restrict human freedom" now Geoff, Imagine a Christian thinker making such a statement. This is sheer humanism. Does the law of God place restrictions on human freedom? Is God not permitted to impose limits on what I may choose or not? Not only may God impose moral limits upon my freedom, but He has every right at any moment to strike me dead if it is necessary to restrain me from exercising my evil choices.
---lisa on 12/27/06

Lisa, when you say "ones in Christ cannot lose that love of God," do you mean God can't stop loving them or that they can't stop loving God. Well He doesn't even stop loving those who choose destruction over eternal life. OTOH, Rom 8 doesn't say we can't walk away from God if we choose.
---Geoff on 12/26/06

You see, Lisa, God takes the risk of giving us free choice-that's love's nature. There's security in Christ, but we must remain in Christ just as remaining in the plane to safely arrive at the airport. I'm not speaking against that security, but you give a false sense of security with OSAS if you suggest anything other than remaining in Christ-Mt 10:22, 24:13, Mk 13:13.

Geoff, Scripture can only be understood by a person that is born of the Spirit. The unbeliever cannot discern the Word of God. All teachings are for us, for the believer is the only one that trust God, believes in God, and follows Christ. The Scriptures do convict the believers and unbelievers and most of all, salvation comes from hearing the Word of God. Yet many hear and are not saved. Scripture speaks to all, but not all hear, and they don't hear because they are not one of the sheep.
---lisa on 12/26/06

2. The people spoken of in Romans 8 makes it clear that the one's "in Christ" cannot lose that love of God. Jesus says, "will never parish" God's word tells us, "Jesus will sustain us." And while Scripture speaks of that security in Christ, and God's never ending love, you speak against it Geoff. No where does it say we are or not robots, or that He doesn't interfere with our lives. As a matter of fact He is much in our live's through the Holy Spirit.
---lisa on 12/26/06

3. We are so blessed that the Holy Spirit is in us to convict, correct, teach, through our sanctification. Along we would sure fail as you see them fail, but you have forgotten Christ in the life of the believer. He is moved, influence, Chasten with love by Christ in his life. In order to protect him from falling. If he does fall, it only proves he was never one of His sheep.

Geoff, what do you mean that we are not the one's Paul was speaking to? He was speaking to believers and made sure to say if you are in Christ in Chapter 8:1. If you feel you are not one of those then I believe you need to be one. Because if you are not one, then you are under condemnation. Paul cannot be speaking to unbelievers and giving them all this teachings, they would never understand since a lost person has no spiritual understanding.

2. while you are saying that those passages in 8:38 do not mean what they say, a true believer believes they are true. (II.)We must ALWAYS remember that the Just shall live by Faith (Habakkuk 2:4). We are to go from faith to faith(Romans 1:17) , not faith to doubt! Holiness to holiness, not holiness to unholiness, peace to peace, not peace to fear, etc. This is God's will for His people(continuity). God Bless!
