Nicole, petros is not stone, the name petros is Peter. Else Jesus when talking to Peter, would say, Stone, come here...Stone, feed my sheep...Stone, do you love me? So you can see how wrong translating is falsehood. Just as I would not wrongly say, "People's victory, how are you today?...People's victory, you look nice today," but instead I would rightly say, "Nicole, how are you today?...Nicole, you look nice today." Now in answer to your misleading question: I believe in the truth that Jesus says, and not in any person's misinterpretation or corruption of the truth that Jesus did not say.
---Eloy on 8/1/08|
Nicole: "Mark 7:6-23 states the same. "disregard God's commandment but cling to human tradition."
RCC does not do this and neither do I."
You must not keep defending your RCC. It's just another man-made religion having it's own traditions, ways of living, and interpretations of the Bible (Catechism).
Answer me this: If there wasn't an RCC, who would you believe in?
For you, right now, it would just be another religiion. Please except the fact that it's only your personal and intimate relationship with God only. That's all He want, without the religion.
---Steveng on 7/31/08|
Nicole: you only know God by what you were taught by RCC. Whatever they say, you believe. Do you not trust yourself for the Holy Spirit for guidance? If you need a religion, your faith is weak.
I'm not only against the RCC, but all Christian denominations which is a plot created by Satan to deceive the whole world. Every Christian bickers among each other to prove that they are better than the other like children arguing "My father is better than yours." Having different denominations do not bring Christians together, but divide Christians.
---Steveng on 7/31/08|
Men assebled the Bible as we know it today. They left out several letters and histories they did not understand. The book of Enoch which is quoted by Jesus and Peter was found in 1947 along with other old testament scrolls proving that it should be in the bible. The KJV version has refrences to a pre Adamite world but the NIV and NASB do not. This proves that refinement of the scriptures continues today and has not been set in stone. It does not end with the book of Revelation but rather it continues as we grow towards eternal life in Christ Jesus.
---Dr._David_M._Ward on 7/31/08|
Eloy, you didn't answer my question in your post. Plus I never gave you Scripture to back up my statements. I couldn't find it. Catholic usually don't memories. I'm going to start though.
If you change Rock from Aramaic to Greek, how I can trust your translation? I not good in Greek. In fact, I only know one word petros- stone, thanks to you all. Ruben or Ramon will have to answer about 'paradoseois'.
Matt 15:3 "And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?"
He is speaking of putting human's tradition over God's commands
Mark 7:6-23 states the same. "disregard God's commandment but cling to human tradition."
RCC does not do this and neither do I.
---Nicole on 7/31/08|
.nicole, your bible is Not correct. the word "traditions" in II Thessalonians 2:15 is a mistranslation. The Greek word is "paradoseis" which means "same teachings". Thus correctly from the Greek: "Therefore brothers, stand fast and hold the same teachings which you all have been taught, whether by word or our letter." Nope, no traditions wrongly being propagated. Jesus condemns traditions. Please Read- Matthew 15:1-9+ Mark 7:5-13.

Nicole, The Holy Bible does not need any manmade additions to it in order to save the seeker. The work of the antiChrist, since he failed miserably in trying to remove and burn all the Holy Bible across the land, is to try to incorporate falsehood into the truth. And any flesh whom tries to add "more" NonInspiration and contrariness to what God has already plainly spoken is cursed.
---Eloy on 7/28/08
Thank you Eloy for your permission.
My Bible states to hold on to the Traditions, written or oral.
Plus, When Jesus gave Peter the Authority to 'Whatever', I believe Jesus is faithful and backs up His Promise.

For to this END Christ BOTH DIED,and ROSE,and revived, the he might be Lord both of the DEAD AND LIVING.
But why dost thou judge thy brother?or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall ALL stand before the judgment seat of Christ...
For the Kingdom of God is not MEAT and DRINK,but RIGHTEOUSNESS and PEACE,and JOY IN THE HOLY GHOST.
Revelation of Jesus Christ "UNVEILING of something previously UNREVEALED".

People always wanting and looking for "more". If a person properly digests the Holy Bible they will find that the contents from Beginning on through Revelation is more than enough to fill the soul with recorded past history...---Eloy on 7/27/08
Ah, here lies the problem Eloy.
Is this your interpretion of the Scriptures?
My same Scriptures states the Church is needed.
So, who is right? You or me?
I bet you are going to say you are right.
You won your bet if think I am going to say I am right?
Just think, this is just two people out of 6 billion in the world today living.
What about the other billions yesterday and tomorrow?
Jesus is the God of Order, not Chaos.

Rhonda, why cover Jesus' Grave?
Matthew 27:62-66...the Chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate and said,..this impostor while still alive said, "After 3 days I will be raised up."
Give orders, then, that the grave be secured until the third day, lest his disciples come and steal him and say to the people, "He has been raised from the dead." This last imposture would be worse than the first...So they went and secured the tomb by fixing a seal to the stone and setting the guard.
How can these unbelievers know the importance of the Resurrection and not you?
If Jesus didn't raise from the dead, it all would have been forgotten.
Our Salvation was not completed until the Resurrection.

Christ finished the work of God The Father on the cross by preaching Gods Kingdom to come when Christ reigns here on earth ...salvation is a gift allowing us access to the father
the bible has not ended as more than 1/3 of Bible is prophecy and much of that prophecy has yet come to pass
Christ is still active as an intercessor for all whom God has called ...it is through Christ we pray to God The Father and through Christ God hears our prayers
the only prophets since the NT was completed are false prophets
the 2 witnessess will be Gods final prophets
---Rhonda on 7/24/08|
"Went on the cross Jesus said "it is finished" What is "it"? what did he mean?---Johannes
It meant the Passover was completed.
Our Salvation was not the 'it'. Because Jesus had to rise from the dead to Win our Salvation.
The cross is just place where Jesus was not Pass over by death.
Just like in Exodus, the Jewish people were not saved just because they killed the Lamb.
No, they had to eat the lamb they killed and place it's blood on the doorposts and wait for the Angel of death to Pass them.
Seeing the blood, I will pass over you...
Could they walked outside claiming victory after eating the lamb? No, God wasn't finish. They stayed inside the houses.

***Why does the Bible have an end? Since God has never ended His involvement with man and there have surely been prophets since John wrote Revelation why has nothing been added to the Bible?***
Jesus said in Revelation...I AM Alpha and Omega, First and Last, Beginning and END....He has told us the beginning and END of things. It will all happen / Has been and will continue to EXACTLT as He said It would...
It's MAN who wants to change the outcome, coming up with strange prophecies and doctrines all orchestrated by Satan to deceive as many as he can to take to HELL with him. SATAN is the LIAR and has always been from the beginning. Genesis - Revelation...it's all there...NOW believe it!

Mima, you stated:"Went on the cross Jesus said "it is finished" was Jesus mistaken". What is "it"? what did he mean?
---Johannes on 7/22/08|
Went on the cross Jesus said "it is finished" was Jesus mistaken? Even a river that runs continuously(as does Almighty God's love for us) has a terminal point. What that terminal point is larger than the river. That terminal point is the sea of course, however the sea is the source of all rivers. Therefore it is never ending as is God's revelation to us is never ending either. It has a terminal that is a continuous ending.
---mima on 7/22/08|
The Bible/Christ has an end: Jesus is the Begining n the End, The Alpha n Omega. The 2Prophets r the Old n New Testaments with the Old pointing towards Christ's birth n coming, and the NT of His Return to take us home. There is no need for more addition when Christ is the end of it.
---jana on 6/9/07|
Because Jesus said that the Law and the Prophets lasted until John the Baptist who was the last of the OT Style prophets and no more would follow. This is confirmed by the OT prophecy found in Zechariah 13.
The Law and The Prophets are two of three components of the Canon of Scripture (as established first by the jews and finalized by the Christians). The third part is The Writings. The NT is part of The Writings. Since that revelation is now complete, there is no further need to add to it.
---lorra8574 on 6/4/07|
Of course, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to remain with us and private revelation does still occur, but it is not binding on eveyone, only those to whom it occurs. There have been no true prophets since the time of Christ. Many false prophets have appeared, but the Bible shows us how to test them and when it is safe to disregard them.
Deuteronomy 13:1-5, and 18:20-22.
---lorra8574 on 6/4/07|
For once I agree with Ashley-I found 12 references to other books in the Bible as scripture. The notion of sola scriptora is a man made one. (Luther) It was the Roman Church that compiled the Bible, accepting rejecting books based on the politics of Rome. It wwas not until 367AD that A Roman Bishop, Athasionous declared the 27NT books were 'canon.' and all others were to be burned, along with those who possessed them.
---MikeM on 6/4/07|
I don't really know but I think that it is because Jesus Christ was the fulfillment of the prophecies of the Old Testement so once He died and the books were collected and put together, there has been no need for additional ones since the prophey has been fulfilled. The prophets of today are with us(alive)so there is no need to write them into the Bible just as they did not write Jesus into the Bible when He was still alive.
---jody on 6/4/07|
There are 66 books in the bible. There are hundreds more containing the words of Jesus Christ. 21 books are mentioned in the bible but not included. that does not include writings that will still be found and will come forth. People do not live each day what they have all ready in the bible. Jesus Christ is alive and guides us today. In his time, not ours, all things will come forth to teach us what we must do to return to his kingdom and prove many teachings of many are false doctrines of man.
---ashley on 6/4/07|
George for me Gods word doesnt end. Muslims believe that Mohammed was Gods last prophet and the Quran is the final word, which makes their god a dead god. Unfortunately I see too many Christians who worship the bible and pretty much believe the same. Billy Graham said that Christianity is in danger of becoming a cult of the bible. I believe that many dont listen for that still small voice. I worship a living god that continues to speak. But I have to be listening.
Moderator - However, as the Holy Spirit speaks, He will not contradict the bible.

Yes, Rev Herb, we do have apostles today, but no one is listening to them. The world, including Christians, have gone after its own lusts and interpretations of Gods Word. The Bible sets a foundation for developing a relationship - not a religion - with God. He wants a personal relationship with his people. People have a hard time developing relationships on Earth, let alone developing a relationship with someone not seen. He reveals mysteries not written in the Bible to His people only.
---Steven on 7/24/06|
Jesus said "I am the Alpha and the Omega"..what He said on the cross as "It is finished" is not referring to the end of all things..it is referring to the end to sacrificial things and that He has completed His work saving people from sin by dying on the cross

Exzucuh, the Pilgrims and Puritans of Salem, Massachusetts Bay, etc, were raised on the Geneva Bible. Did this stop them from hanging witches?
The Geneva Bible was still preferred by the Puritans under Cromwell--who were not known for being nice to those who disagreed with them.

Rev Herb, whatever did the church do for 1611 years until the KJV was published?
I asssume you mean the WHOLE KJV, with 1&2 Maccabees, Ecclesiasticus, Judith, et al, and not a KJV full of holes.

The bible was written by the apostles, we have no apostles today. These extra revelations people get today in some churches are not from God. All we need to know from God is found in his KJV bible.

(Heb.9:26)Says Jesus came at the end of the world,(John 17:4)Says his work was finished. We are living in the last day,the day of grace, every day the Father allows is his long suffering to see people come to Jesus. We are born dead into this world, but given the opertunity to be born again entering in to the eight day circumcision of the heart, where we find rest in Jesus, there is nothing we can add to a finished work. Jesus the word is finished.

Where did you get the idea that the Roman Catholic Church closed the canon?
The RCC as we know it is a product of the Council of Trent in the 16th century. It was hardly a centralized monolithic organization as depicted in DaVinci code or Jack Chick tracts.
---Jack on 5/10/06|
the Bible quotes several other books, but no one every wants to talk about that. The notion that the heavens forever closed whan the RCC closed the canon I find so limiting; it limits not only man, but God.

The last word in the Bible is "A-men", not "The End". Amen means, Truly, or So be it, therefore the Bible does not end. Please read John 21:25.

Actually, the Church was functioning in all her fulness before ONE WORD of the NT was ever written. If you don't believe me, read the last verses of Acts 2.
There are collections of what are called New Testament Apocrypha and Pseudopigrapha, one published with the inaccurate and sensationalistic title of THE LOST BOOKS OF THE BIBLE.
Read them for yourself, and you will see why some were preserved, though not as part of the canon, and why some were totally rejected.
---Jack on 5/8/06|
Ronny, can you back that rhetorical statement up?
---MikeM on 5/8/06|
The plan for man's salvation has been once and forever delivered to the saints. No further addition or subtraction is needed. Only continual presentation of the salvation Christ has provided.

heb9:26 says jesus came at the end of the world, everyone seems to be blind to this truth but as far as God is concerned the world has ended, jesus was crucified before the foundation of the world, God speaks those things that be not as though they were, this is the concept of the kingdom, jesus said let the dead bury the dead, those truly alive are born again, the book is written. exzucuh

Moderator. If the Holy Spirit told you that the word "Easter" was supposed to be the word "Passover" who would be right, the Bible that says "Easter", or the Holy Spirit that says "Passover"? What if the Spirit told you there were no persons named James in the N.T. but their names were actually Jacobus, would you believe the Bible or the Spirit? The writers were inspired but not the translators.
Moderator - If one reads Greek and Hebrew, there is no confusion. Many of the bibles today are bad translations which I would not recommend. As stated, the Bible is complete.
---john on 4/7/06|
I have never seen the end have you????? There is an end of the finite number of words in the text; but, the Spirit of God and the revelations of the text live on.
---Mark on 4/6/06|
I'm not saying the Bible is incomplete, I ask why so many Christians believe God is no longer involved with us. I've heard a lot of debate over which version is the correct translation, what motivations led the different translations, and even that satan himself was involved in the translations and deciding which books to include or not (I know it's absurd but it's out there). <
Where are all of the prophetic and visionary writings that actually were inspired by God over the last 2000 years?
Moderator - A true Christian has a daily relationship with Christ. Prophetic and visionary writings will not conflict with the Bible. If they do, it's not from God.
---George on 4/6/06|
Of all the replies I expected to hear on this subjest that last one really surprised me. "It is finished" was not a statement that God's involvement with man was complete if it were than the tongues of fire that descended onto the Apostles must have been satan's doing, and revelation was a hoax, and so on. Come on, think just a little before you embarrass yourself like that.
Moderator - If the Bible isn't complete, what is missing from the Bible?
---George on 4/6/06|
