The fire went out when the Church left the Cross.
---Helen_5378 on 5/13/07

the fire is the Spirit bearing witness with our Spirit purging by its works that what James was speaking of, our faith and pressing in to the Spirit brings forth the Law of the Spirit the Law of liberty, God working in us to perform a metamorphose, a translation, regeneration, conforming us to the image of his Son, but False doctrine limits the Holy one and causes believers to draw back into perdition.

But those who come in the Spirit of Moses and Elijah, men who were willing to be changed by God, they shall call fire down from heaven and the world shall be burned out of their lives, purging them and separating them, So shall the world be destroyed and Gods will be done the kingdom Come in the earth as it is in heaven, the world destroyed out of man,
and the kingdom in the earth, for man was made of the earth.

John said, "There is one coming after me whose sandals I am not worthy to unlatch. He will baptize you with the Holy Ghost and fire." The fire is not a thing, it's a person. Our God is a consuming fire and He consumes wood, hay, and stubble. With so many believers against Jesus baptizing them in the Holy Ghost, it's not hard to figure out where the fire is.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

herb is right we receive the Holy Spirit when we confess our sins, repent, and trust in Jesus as the Saviour. Gal 4:6 mt 3:11 rom 8:11ezek 36:27

Jesus taught us to act as he did. He came to earth as gods example of how we should act as human beings. Nothing else is important. Nothing else can really be infered.

Rebbeca D, Baptism of the Holy Ghost with Tongues, is given for empowerment. I was saved at 11 years old, I wasn't empowered until I received the Holy Ghost with Tongues, as in Book of Acts at 22 years old, until then I hadn't been given any of the Gifts of The Spirit, but a short while after, God gave me Gift of Prophecy, several others later. Perhaps God gives the Tonues with BHG, to see if we will be obedient to His pattern of infilling His people. If we obey then He gives us Gifts of the Spirit.

They may be filled with the Holy Spirit, but everyone isn't baptised by the Holy Ghost when they first get saved. There is a difference. Jesus got baptised by the Holy Ghost when John baptised him by water.

Every born again believer is filled with the Holy Spirit. If they were not, they would not be born again. How to tell if someone is filled with the Spirit: Do they have the fruits, not the gifts of the Spirit? You can tell more about a tree by it's fruits than it's gifts.
---Rev_Herb on 4/23/06

Herb; I am filled with the Holy Spirit but, I do not speak in tongues. Why? Because it isn't my desire to. I would rather have the gift of healing or prophecy. I am seeking God for him to stir up these gifts that are already in me. You, Herb have these gifts but it is you to desire them to be stirred up.
---Rebecca_D on 4/20/06

God made a few perfect heads, the rest he put hair.

From what I gather, everyone who receives the HS speaks in tongues, yet the bible says not all speak in tongues. Why is tongues so important when it was the least of the gifts? Should we then all prophetsy since it is the best gift?
---Rev_Herb on 4/19/06

Ex.that's a good def. When born-again we're like a glass filled with water(we have Holy Spirit with us)..then plunge the glass in a pail full of water(the Holy Spirit HAS US)and with tongues comes MORE Boldness. You are saved when born-again(born of the spirit).linda3957

If, when presented with scriputre that contradicts one's personaly held belief, the only response is "well it is different today than it was then", that person finds them self in an untennable position scripturaly speaking.

If your position cannot be harmonized with scripture, and you continue to cling to it anyway, well, that sounds very dangerous (cultic) to me.

Yes! you recieve the Holy Spirit at conversion.I believe that you have the Holy Spirit Rev. Herb. But it is not correct to say others donot have the gift of tongues today. This difference is just thst, a difference. It is not a degree of being more saved or anything else. A black hair man is not better than a blond hair man.

definition: born (to give birth to.)
definition: baptism (to be emersed in water)
definition: born again ( birthed from God's Spirit)
definition: baptized in God's Spirit( total emersion in his Spirit) we are born again to be Gods temple, we are Baptized in the Spirit to recieve power.

If you do not receive the Holy Ghost at conversion, Then you are none of God's. For without the Holy Spirit we are not born again. Acts is a transision period from the law to grace. Many things happened in Acts that does not happen today. We had apostles in Acts we do not have today. Tongues was a tempoary sign to the unbelieving Jew, Not evidence you received the Holy Spirit. Bible says not all speak in tongues, do they then not have the Holy Spirit.
---Rev_Herb on 4/19/06

We don't receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost when we first get saved. Because it says in the bible, have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? Plus in Acts those people didn't receive the Holy Ghost and spoke in tongues.
---Rebecca_D on 4/18/06

The bible speaks of Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and the baptism of fire.

When we are born again, we receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Sinners receive the baptism of fire. Fire is the judgement of God through out the bible. We need to be on fire for God, but the baptism of fire speaks of judgement. I am amazed at how many think it is something for Christians.
---Rev_Herb on 4/17/06

I have to agree with Donna about the fire coming from the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Hi Alan, the fire comes from the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. "You shall receive POWER when the Holy Ghost comes upon you." John the Baptist said: "I Baptize you with water, but when He comes, He will baptize you with the Holy Ghost and power." The power is in the Holy Spirit's fire within us.

In alot of Christians, their walk with God has been shakey and they can't handle going through the trials and tribulations so they just throw in the towel and turn their back upon God. Look in the obituaries in the paper, no one is going is going to hell. this person belongs to this church, that church, so on and so forth. Everybody is going to heaven. And the people that supposely went to these churches the Pastor has never even heard of of them.

I think Jesus gave a warning about this to the church of Ephesus straying from the first works. Remember when you were first saved, filled with the Holy Spirit? And you were first learning about the wisdom of God. How you were on fire about it. Could not get enough of it, and just had to tell someone else. This is what Jesus is telling Ephesus it must do is to go back and find that "fire" that was there in the beginning.
