In one of the gospels, someone commented about Jesus that before Him, no one ever raised a man from the dead.
How could this be said, especially if a Jewish person had the Scriptures about Elisha??
---Philip on 11/19/09

This isn't on the news because this world belongs to satan and he'll do whatever it takes to get Christian stuff off the news. But one day everyone will know of Jesus. And Jesus has givin us power to move mountains so why not have the power to bring the dead to like?
---Lauren on 12/21/07

Helen>>>That is what I thought about, Before I read your blog. Why isn't it all over the news? I believe that I am going to go to the Bible Book Store and try and find a book all about false stuff that is floating around, Should be so interesting to me.

LIndsay whats going threw your mind, i dont get it...

Jesus said himself that we are going to do greater works than he did...its part of being a christian...
One of these days in the endtimes christians are going to realize the authority we have in Jesus and the dead will be raised many times
---mark_B. on 6/12/07

Well you need to know. Noone is raising the dead to life. Spiritual Life is what that scripture is talking about. What makes you think anyone has that kind of power? Not too many raising anyone to spiritual life.
---catherine on 6/12/07

Alright,The end times are near, this is a lie. I am sorry but No one will ever be greater than Jesus!I pray for all of those who are brainwashed with this lie!
god bless!

The Lord Jesus Christ raises the dead.He said you will even do greater works than me.He said do not just merely listen to the word do what it says.Matthew 10:8 he commands his saints to heal the sick, raise the dead, drive out demons and cleanse lepers of leprosy freely you receive, freely you give.Just worship him by what he's done for you by his blood he also said anything you ask for in prayer believe and you will recieve. He raised my grandmother. All of the Glory Praises and thanks be to God
---Brittney on 1/5/07

It's true, only God can resurrect the dead. Satan and humans have limited power. I starting to not find necromancy acceptable in a cartoon, even though it's portrayed comically yet it's glorified. If a kid is going to "resurrect" the dead, s/he is only actually summoning demonic poseurs. The dead don't leave home, they go home. But it's fun to satirize necromancy: someone summons the dead but instead he conjures a demon.
---CNoEvil on 9/18/06

Lets look at the passage when Christ brought the 12 year old girl back to life. Luke 8:56, After His miracle, the Spirit returned back to the girl. Now how can someone other then God because of their faith, bring back someone's spirit? The spirit is with the Lord and you come along and order the spirit away from Christ and back to the person. That is just the most rediculous thing anyone ever heard. I don't believe these people that talk about this realize what they are saying. Something wrong there.
---lee_1 on 8/3/06

2) NEVER underestimate the power of forgiveness, (power of the cross)Spiritually something amazing happens in forgiveness, a release in the spiritual realm of God's power...right after Stevens stoning and prayer for Saul, Saul was struck down on the road to Damascus and converted in one of the most amazing conversion experiences. Talk about being raised from the dead!!! (I know the blog is about physical, but this spiritual example is awesome)
---Christina on 8/3/06

1)I agree with Linda. Also wish to add a comment on Richards said when people are on their death bed they do not have that faith. Although that may be true most times, I would not assume it to be true all times. What of Steven when He was being stoned to death? Such an amazing scripture, he knew he was dying, pain would have been horrific, but he saw Jesus while dying and prayed for the forgiveness of those killing him. That includes Saul/Paul.
---Christina on 8/3/06

Linda >>Jesus never did anything to prove who He was. What He did, He did to reveal the Father<<. Actually, I believe several healing miracles were specifically to show the Jew who HE was...their Messiah. They already believed in God.
But we are not Divine. WE are nobody. Yet human nature wants to lift up the man who appears to produce the miracle. Look at the people who flock to Benny Hinn (for example). Do most lift up God? Or do they lift up Benny Hinn?
---Donna2277 on 8/3/06

Given the backslidden condition of the church in general, I doubt that there will be any or even many being raised from the dead. Are many being raised anyway? I don't think so -- if there were then why isn't it in the news all over the world?
---Helen_5378 on 8/2/06

April--I'm sure you're right about Him saying, "Oh, ye of little Faith".Sometimes I imagine God shaking His head and saying, "Oh, ye of little sense." If God wants to bring someone back from the dead, He is able to do it without us. Then HE would get the glory. Otherwise, I know of no one who, having faith to raise the dead, would be humble enough not to take pride in it.
---Donna2277 on 8/2/06

Fleur--My parents are in Heaven. I doubt if they would want to come back here.
---Donna2277 on 8/2/06

Raising the dead, remember one the the may that was let down from the roof top by his friends, Jesus said, it was by their( his friends) faith he was healed. When one is on his or her death bed, they do not have that faith, so count on your friends.

April, Why would God need you to raise the dead? God will take care of that at the resurection.
---Thomas_D. on 8/2/06

I think the gift of raising people from the dead still exists. but if we don't have Faith, why should we think God is going to give us the gift. Sometimes I think God is shaking his head, thinking.. Oh Ye of Little Faith.
---April on 8/2/06

I believe that when God finds hearts that are pure in wanting to bring Him glory, those things do take place. He wants to glorify Himself in our own lives first. Jesus never did anything to prove who He was. What He did, He did to reveal the Father. When we are quick to recognize that it is Christ in us the hope of glory and that it is "not I but Christ that lives within me", then we are on our way to being that pure of a vessel for His works to flow.
---Linda6563 on 7/13/06

There is no question as to what Jesus did and the people He healed. No question as to why He did it. No question to why the apostles did. It wasn't so that as the church grew that everyone could bring the dead to life. No one would be dead if we all did that. All I would have to do is go into any hospital and raise everyone that was dying. Just touching them. Jesus can heal anyone when He wants, and there is no question about that.

3. They go and tell others that they can bring someone from the dead to life. I see it here on line all the time by the answers. What else can it be done for if it isn't to bring glory to themselves since Christ cannot be proven. It doesn't become the "will of God" but the will of man. All man centered.
---Lupe2618 on 7/13/06

2. The problem that people have is that they cannot prove it came from God. He is not present or alive as He was in the New Testament. Sure, many greater things we will do, and I don't think the greater is raising the dead. Greater is to bring the Gospel of Christ so that others will not be lost. To call the elect to repentance. why would God want to bring self-righteous to His children? Because that is what is happening.
---Lupe2618 on 7/13/06

John, Christ never comission the church to do the same, and raise the dead. There is no place where that instruction was given. There is no way for authentication to be done when someone claims to do that now. You cannot authenticate it is coming from Christ. That was the reason it was done then. Nowadays many say they are raising the dead but have nothing to show for it. As many as believe this, and they are many, not one can be recorded as prove and then proved it was from Christ or God.
---Lupe2618 on 7/13/06

I think faith in Jesus will even raise the dead. Perhaps its hard to beleive that God can awaken your buried dad , mom brother sister or whomever, but thats the point. It can be done if you beleive in the word of God as revealed several times in the bible. If we trust Him we can raise the dead with Him. This is no magic it is just the Power of the Living God.

John, You won't believe unless you have seen. Your not speaking of me John. I'm not looking for signs like you and Rebecca. I don't think you understand what you read. Jesus said the Jews sought after a sign, seems like ya'll are too. You two seem to need something to hold on to besides JESUS.
---Thomas_D. on 6/30/06

what's holding me back? One just doesn't go to the morgue and say "arise" and they will. If God tells me to go and raise someone up, then I will. Donna you can find it in Jn 11:20,32. Mary just didn't have faith. Yes Thomas some people have/will abuse the power God gives them, but he takes away that power if it is not for his glory. Oh ye of little faith. I was dead at birth and so was my mom, I am here and my mom lived to be 55years old, don't tell me the dead can't be raised.
---Rebecca_D on 6/30/06

Thomas. You won't believe unless you have seen. But blessed are those who, even though they have not seen will believe.

Matt. 10:8 Jesus gave authority to the 12 to raise the dead. That even included Judas. Maybe they misused it, I don't know. None of my or your business. Then he sent the 70 the same as the 12. And then he commissioned the church to do the same. One thing for absolute sure, it won't happen if we don't try. I wouldn't criticize any one who was attemting to use the authority given to them.

Thomas, I believe you are correct in your answers since death is the penalty of the curse and the curse has not been lifted yet but will when God decides to do away with death. I too am waiting to see how many are alive from the past due to their faith. The works of Christ and the Aposles were for authenticity of the Messiah.
---Lupe2618 on 6/30/06

Alan G., The works Jesus did was done that people would believe in him. Even so many Jews did'nt believe. How do you know their rasing the dead in Africa? Was you there? Many people are fooled. You have joined them. Have a nice day.
---Thomas_D. on 6/30/06

Experience has shown me that many times my wants or desires are fulfilled by God. In fact many seemed frivolous and really were not prayed for but merely voiced are requested. And for the above reasons I believe the spirit sometimes is at my fingertips so to speak, I have also seen many salvations come about just by asking for and praying for them at a distance. Of course all this is very interesting but strange.
---mima on 6/30/06

Rebecca D., Send us a list of all those you have raised from the dead. Give names and address of each person. Phone numbers also. I expect a short list of about ZERO. If God gave such authority to men today they would misuse it.

Mima, God sees to our needs not our wants. Word faith movement is wants. Your reward is in heaven not on earth. The Copeland ministry has probably brought many to Christ but those who follow his teachings will sooner or later be disappointed. Hear his teachings and see if it is scriptural. I'm glad though for those that come to Christ through any ministry but many are not teaching sound doctrine.

Part of the Word of Faith movement seems to be true. An individual can have what they say if the Spirit of God is working with them. Failure to see the manifestation of your spoken word is a absolute sign the Spirit of God is not working with and through you. And this is the part they flail to accept. Once asked to give the percentage of time that the spirit works with a man my reply was the Spirit works all the time but our receptiveness of the Spirit is perhaps one tenth of 1% of our time.
---mima on 6/30/06

Thomas, I believe God has raised the dead, He does raise the dead, and He shall raise the dead. He was, is, and is to come, the Almighty. If I had to give a reason as to why this seems to be an uncommon occurrence (though I don't seek for signs), it would be because it would be a stretch to find a man humble enough to not take credit for what He could or would do through one of His own. I do know He is not only willing but does heal when His Word is spoken in faith.
---Linda6563 on 6/30/06

The force of faith is taught by the Word Faith teachers. "Because Christians are little gods, they now have access to the "Godkind of faith. which can be used to get virtually anything they want. Christians rather then God have authority in the earth over Satan and sickness and diease. Consequently, believers should never pray God's will be done." Comments from Kenneth Copeland. This is not the faith of Scripture.

---Donna2277 on 6/29/06

Linda6563, My statement was plain and straight forward. I don't know why you don't understand it. Do you believe God can raise the dead? Do you believe God has raised the dead? Do you believe God will raise the dead at the resurection? If you answered yes to these questions then why your statement. I believe at the resurection Jesus will come and seperate the goats from the sheep at the end of ages. I'm not talking about the rapture theory which was taught beginning about 1830.
---Thomas_D. on 6/29/06

Do you know what faith is Thomas? Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. You sound like Mary, Lazuras' sister. Martha was the one whom had faith in Jesus but it was Mary whom didn't believe. God abides in me, and I in him, he is alive in me, his power is in me so therefore I have the power through God Almighty to do anything in Jesus' name. You don't like Mary, you don't believe. There is nothing new under the sun. So if they can do it back then, then so can I.

---Linda6563 on 6/29/06

The Lord told Ezekiel to prepare stuff for removing in the sight of Israel because they were rebellious. Today the miracle of raising the dead is no longer seen as it used to be and was testified of. Maybe the Lord has departed from this arogant and rebellious divided kingdom calling itself Christianity. The Lord said they would see and still not repent. Many miracles have ceased in many churches and though it is seen they still justify their actions while some humble churches see these miracles today.

---Thomas_D. on 6/29/06

Raising the dead can be seen whenever someone comes to have faith in our Lord. In the natural it has happened and there are accounts of it. I would be very cautious about saying it is the occult or anything that could be attributed to the devil as blasphempy of the Holy Ghost is not forgiven.

Chris, Your answer I agree with. God does perform wonderous things today. God answers prayers if it is his will but God doesn't perform tricks on a stage nor does he give gifts to be used for one's personal profit. Love your answer.

3. These people have that love, but never for pride. They just do what is in their heart. So I too believe there is gifts, many of them. God is alive and well completing His plan even if we don't understand everything. I thank you too for your good answer Donna. I hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings.
---Lupe2618 on 4/27/06

2. I believe that God has given us enough revelations to be on the lookout for the enemy and also for our own benefits. We use pride so much in life. God wants us humble to Him and not prideful. If someone has a gift it will show through their actions in life. There is many servants, many teachers, many with the gift of co-ordination, many with a merciful heart that visit sick or older people, many that love to pray for others.
---Lupe2618 on 4/27/06

Rebecca D., Stay with gospel teachings and I'll be with you. Raising the dead is not a gift referred to in the gospel. If the subjects of the bible were always simple they wouldn't generate so many questions. This blog is an example of that.

Hello Donna, You don't have to worry about me bringing anyone back from the dead. I cannot even heal my body for it is decaying and dying everyday. You are right, I too believe in the gifts. But what was done in Jesus time was nothing like what is happening today. Another danger that I have mentioned before is, we cannot tell if(someone gets healed) is done by God or the enemy. There is no way to prove it is Christ so the authenticity is not there. The enemy would love to see us all confused.
---Lupe2618 on 4/27/06

All things are possible through Christ. But many want to be able to do these things to impress others. I dont think these things come in the form of Gifts today, but come as a response from God to your faith if it suits his will. Many people want to do these things for themselves, not his will. In Matt. 4:5-7 Satan told Jesus to jump and have the angels save him. We all know, including Satan, that Jesus could do it. But he would have done it just to prove it to Satan, not out of Gods will so he refrained.
---chris on 4/27/06

Thomas; you may be intelligent, but it takes a simple person to understand the bible. If you really believe the way that you do, then so be it, I am not nor will I try and change your mind, that is God's job. I was just trying to tell you what the bible says about this matter. If you so chose not to believe it, fine. I am tired of arguing about this matter. We are both right in our own eyes, and just leave it at that. I can do ALL things through CHRIST, who strengthens me.

No matter the results of my prayer for my wife and others that have died, I know there is a reason because God never makes mistakes. I am willing to except what He does or allows to happen to me, but it will never be for lack of faith. I love you sister and just wanted to explain. My faith has never been stronger

2. I can only ask on what I comprehend and see but God see's so much more. I believe that is why Scripture tells us to ask for His will. Of course we know what our will is and it might not be the same. Reason, because we are depending on Him now as His children. I know many here say, God doesn't want anyone to die, but if He didn't, no one would die. He permits sin to continue but for a reason that only He knows and when the time comes for Him to do away with death, He will do it.

#2 Lupe--If we are to do the works of Jesus, we should recall that He came primarily to seek and save those that were lost, not raise the dead. I spent 30 yrs in a medical field...have seen lots of dead people.. some resuscitated, none resurrected.. If God wants to resurrect them Hes able.. I've faced death myself, but am prepared to accept it if God wills. But if I'm dead and you bring me back I'm gonna be spittin' mad!
---Donna2277 on 4/26/06

#1 Lupe--I consider myself a "Pentecostal", but I agree with you about the Sovereignty of God. Think Satan gets more credit for mens misery than he deserves. God set the ground rules for Satan in the book of Job and didnt even let Job know. I believe the "gifts of the spirit" (including tongues) are still in operation.. Is raising the dead a gift? No. Gift of healing? Yes. Gift of faith? Sure. But why the special interest in raising the dead?
---Donna2277 on 4/26/06

What gets me is the number of youg children who die horrible deaths and none of these people with this so called "Gift" are there to make things right.

If you had this "gift" from God, God would place you in exactly those situations because you would be allowing His and only His full Will in your life.

There have been many Christians that have suffered and died for Jesus, including the Apostles. Why didn't another Christian with strong faith raise any of these people. If people could raise people from the dead, it's possible that people could live, die, live again, die, and so on. It would mean we could continue to live for ever and Jesus would have no meaning.
If I die before His Second Coming, JESUS is the only One I want to raise me at His Marvelous return.

We need to get "out of the boat" as often as possible, it will strenghten our faith! Get out of the boat when we need to witness, or pray for the ill. Its ALL about faith, used as a verb, not a noun, its an action word. Faith is like a muscle, the more you exercise it, the stronger it will grow!

5. He can only do what God allows him to do, and his borders and boundaries are established by our Sovereign Lord, God Jehovah I do disagree with your view on this sister. Though I think Thomas could have put it another way. God is in control and knows the beginning and the end and nothing is outside of sight. It all works for the purpose of His will. I could not help answering on this because of God's sovereignty.

4. or you have some other problem when one of your children goes astray, whatever it is, it's the devil. And so, you are living, literally, under the Sovereignty of Satan in a mode of constant fear. That's one very unbliblical element of that, so you're always trying to "bind Satan", you are always trying to cast out demons. God, becomes the victim. Lets get one thing streigth, the enemy of God, who is Satan, is God's servant.
