Amen. To both Linda and Debbie. We cannot come to Jesus, Unless The Father which has sent Him, draw (drag, prefer, take for Himself, Strong's 1670 akin to 138) us: and He will raise us up at the last day. John 6:44. No man knows The Son, except The Father; nor does any man know The Father, except the Son, and he whomsoever the Son reveals Him to. Mat. 11:27

No. It was Jesus' achievement. He IS salvation.

If salvation is a personal achievement, then we may think we have something to boast in. Salvation is a gift from God, not of works. He gives that measure of faith to be saved. We have no part except to yield. If we try to take any credit for it, then it ceases to be grace and turns into works.

Tom2, how in the world can you say that God does not know who will and who will not choose Him? What God are you talking about? Not the one from Scripture. "I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say MY purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please" Isaiah 46:10. When God speaks in Scripture it is alway true. God never stops been Omniscience. Knowing all.

clear my position, I agree that salvation through jesus is Gods plan, but I don,t believe in predistination.
---tom2 on 5/31/06

before you are born again Gods word says that some accept and some reject, the only thing true about predistination is that God does know who will and who won,t butit,s your choice to believe or not.
---tom2 on 5/30/06

disagree.salvation is a plan of God.saved from sin and death by acceptance of his son I don,t believe in predistination,or that God has chosen those who will be in heaven,if so free will would be a lie.and God don,t lie.
---tom2 on 5/30/06

Amen. Everyone here so far (except tom2 it seems), believes in the Sovereignty of God in salvation (predestination) whether they think so or not. We were all "dead in [our] sins" (Eph. 2:1) and couldn't possibly have chosen to follow Christ anymore than Lazarus could've raised himself from the dead! We are 'born again,' just as any baby is, because our heavenly Father first chose to have us; we don't choose our parents! (John 3 is His 'analogy'; you don't choose to be born either way.)

Salvation is totally and completely the Lord Jesus Christ's finished work on the
Cross at Calvary.
---Helen_5378 on 5/30/06

NO No, salvation is a free gift from God. You don,t deserve it. It comes to you by faith in the work of jesus on the cross. You could say salvation is achieved by a personal choice to accept jesus as lord and savior, but that,s all it is.You have done nothing to achieve salvation except make a choice given to you freely by the grace of God.
---tom2 on 5/30/06

No, it is all God's doing! He is the Giver and the Gift. Our priviledge: to enjoy the fruit of His achievement. P.
---Pierr5358 on 5/5/06

I don't think we can achieve anything without the Lord so I would disagree that salvation is a personal achievement.
---john on 5/5/06

"personal achievement"? like that of acquisition of a course diploma? If it is, then it is salvation by works! No! I don't believe it is all a personal achievement. Christ's coming to save us makes it a non- personal achievement.

Titus 3:5, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;"
