Stop Praying For A Healing

A 9 year old girl in church was found to have a brain tumour. The pastor's wife said she believed that God could foresee a terrible future for this girl and so was using the tumour like an escape route to get her out of here early. What do you think of that?

Moderator - Anything is possible, however I would question the Pastor's wife. I would be fasting and praying for the little girl unless the Holy Spirit specifically told me to stop. Only one time out of 25 years has the Holy Spirit instructed me not to pray for a person as it was their appointed time to die. The person died 6 weeks later.

Yes, one time God said to me, "Don't have anything to do with those people anymore. He told Jeremiah not to pray for those people anymore. In these cases it spells bad news for these people. But on to your question. I agree, you have connections with the living God, seek His advice.

God later used Joseph, to be a representative of Christ, as a Balm of Gilead.

He was the one the Lord would use to save not only the people of Egypt and the surrounding nations, but the very nation of Israel itself. Joseph would later testify to his brothers, But as for you, ye thought evil against me, but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive (Genesis 50:20).

Today, there is a Balm of Gilead.

The cure is near.

Do we need the balm of Gilead in our life today? If we are sick, if we are spiritually blind... The remedy is in the hands of the great Physician of our souls. Seek the balm that we really need. Let us seek the Healer and receive healing!

There is a Balm of Gilead. He has the power to save us from death. He can bring hope to the hopeless and healing to that which is incurable.

Balm of Gilead is described as a honey-like aromatic resin with medicinal qualities.

Josephs brothers had murderous thoughts in their hearts. Ignored by his brothers, God heard Josephs cries for help. He sent a band of outsiders to rescue Joseph from certain death. For as the Balm passed by, Judah declared to his brothers that it would be better to sell Joseph into slavery than to kill him. Verses 26 & 27.

The first application of the Balm of Gilead.
---MMR on 4/18/08

The Lord Jesus IS the Balm of Gilead. It was He who passed, whether seen or unseen, with that company that redeemed Joseph from death.

But there is more to the meaning of this Balm of Gilead. We already know that Jesus IS the Great Physician, and in Him there is healing for all needs.
---MMR on 4/18/08

There is a balm in Gilead
To make the wounded whole,
There is a balm in Gilead
To heal the sin sick soul.

Some times I feel discouraged,
And think my works in vain,
But then the Holy Spirit
Revives my soul again.

If you cant preach like Peter,
If you cant pray like Paul,
Just tell the love of Jesus,
And say He died for all.

JEREMIAH asked this question in Jer 8:22. "Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why has not the health of the daughter of my people been restored?" The dire conditions of the people caused them to need balm. "For the brokenness of the daughter of my people I am broken, I mourn, dismay has taken hold of me." Jeremiah was dismayed that the condition of God's people had become so bad.

Balm is a medicinal salve.

The people were wounded from their sins and idolatries, needing restoration. People sought the balm of Gilead to help their illnesses. Joseph was sold to those heading to Egypt carrying balm from Gilead (Genesis 37:25). When Joseph sent his brothers back for their remaining brother Benjamin (before he had revealed himself to them) their father Jacob said as they returned to Egypt to take the best products of the land, to "carry down to the man as a present, a little balm"(Genesis 43:11).
---MMR on 4/18/08

Jeremiah's question, "How can a people who traded in balm be so sick?"

For spiritual sickness. "How can the people of God, with the law in their midst, be so sinful?"

Solution for the Jews was to use the balm that they already had.
Jeremiah, "Go up to Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt, in vain shalt thou use many medicines, for thou shalt not be cured" (of spiritual sickness) (Jeremiah 46:11).

Boy in wheelchair, below. If he's still alive, God can heal that boy. Spines, MS, if you can name it, every name has to bow to the Name of Jesus Christ. I believe that nothing is impossible with God. Nothing.

I pray for amputees, I pray for people in wheelchairs, I pray for everyone I see crossing the street. I ask God to replace those body parts and restore them. I may not see their new limb but faith is the substance of limbs hoped for, the evidence of limbs not yet seen.
---Monique on 4/9/08

God has your parts. They're in the heavenly body shop. If you've lost your brain cells, He knows where they are. If you've lost a voicebox, failing liver, lung, kidney or pancreas, knee joints, arms, legs - God can find them. He knows where every hair on your head went if you're bald.
They're in the heavenly body shop being repaired. Praise God and ask Him if you can have them back.

Listen to a child. Jesus, I've lost my dog and I love that dog, please bring my dog home.
Jesus, Dad's boss is a mean man. Jesus, would you stop that man from hurting my Dad.
Thank you, Jesus.

Jesus, my mom hurt her leg. Please make my mom well, Jesus.

Nothing complicated, no bead routines by rote, remote control, auto-pilot prayers.

Asking for a big healing or small, all that matters is that you're seeking the Healer, more than the healing. Relationship.

I will not die but live and declare the works of God. Psalm 118:17
---Monique on 4/9/08

God forgives iniquities, heals all diseases, redeems lives from destruction. He renews our youth as the eagles.
God blesses our food and water, takes sickness away from us.

The Spirit of life in Christ Jesus makes us free from the law of sin and death. We are redeemed from the curse of the law.

I had an interesting time sending replies. A couple appeared not to go, so I retyped them.

If this was inoperable or operable, I'd come into agreement with equally yoked prayer partners and seek the Healer for a miracle. I'd ask the Holy Spirit to help us with fasting and prayer. We would believe for the little girl to be healed with an operation or without one - if inoperable.

We'd pull every curse out by the roots that had been spoken over her life in the Name of Jesus Christ.

If you find yourself in a church where curses of death are being spoken over anyone, rebuke the curses as you head out the door. Do not return.

False prophets/teachers may not know what spirit they are of or that they're speaking from soulish realms, mind, without the Holy Spirit. It's witchcraft.
You'll find death prognostications where the power of the Holy Spirit is denied.
They do not believe the Holy Spirit is God, so they operate under a false spirit of witchcraft.
---Monique on 4/9/08

This is witchcraft.

When anyone stands up and tells someone they're going to die from the pulpit, that's witchcraft. Telling anyone, if you don't do thus and so, you'll die in a year's time, that's witchcraft.
Foreseeing or foretelling a terrible future for anyone is witchcraft. False prophets use witchcraft for control, manipulation. It brings fear and aligns directly with the devil's prognosis of death that he wishes upon everyone. Speaking death over anyone is witchcraft.

---Monique on 4/9/08

This is not a prophetic gift but witchcraft and this person knows not what spirit they are of. This is dangerous and listening to false prophetic witchcraft can destroy the sheep. It's not edifying, it's not encouraging, it's not any different from going to a tarot card reader or psychic.

The Holy Spirit wouldn't speak a curse of death out over a young child.
It's possible that this person does not realise she's speaking from the soulish realm, but the devil can use it as witchcraft.
---Monique on 4/9/08

She was way out of order. When God sees our future, He sees Himself in it. And if He is in it, it is far from terrible.

If I had a child with a brian tumor, I'd be trying ALL medical approaches (as well as prayer) until God's will was very clear.

I don't know all the facts here, obviously, but the little bit given here doesn't sound quite right.

There IS such as thing as spiritual delusion, with people claiming God told them things He no more did than my cat said.
---Jack on 3/22/07

Pastor's wife speaking from self. Natural circumstances indicate that outcome. No encouraging word or building up with faith. I had a word from lady speaking out of her head. I didn't want it and rejected it. These negative words people give out can be "spiritual" witchcraft in the church. Seek God for His Word, don't look to any man as your "source". Pastors are human, try the Word by the Spirit. Let the Holy Spirit give you confirmation of God's truth. God's sheep know His voice.
---Rachel on 8/6/06

Donna2277, to my knowledge they did not hear what the pastor's wife said. I hope that they didn't but if they did they now know that she was wrong. Thanks for asking.
---emg on 5/28/06

It is God's will to heal the sick, but is it God's will for that particular person? I know loving Christians who have passed on. ONLY GOD knows who He wills to live and who HE wills to be in heaven. Besides, being in heaven, walking on streets of gold, not having to get up at 6:00am for work every day isn't too shabby. Right?

Personally, I pray that God's will be done and for the courage to live with His decision.
---Anne on 5/25/06

emg--glad to hear the outcome wasn't as bad as expected. Just out of curiosity, did the child's family ever hear about this pastor's wife's prediction or "word of knowledge"? ( or whatever it would be called).
---Donna2277 on 5/25/06

Healing can be a slow prosses but a mircle is instant
---Betty on 5/25/06

I would like to clarify 2 things here. The pastor's wife said what she said in a women's group (about 10 of us) not to the whole congregation and she didn't tell us NOT to pray. It did cause some controversy though. This happened some years ago and the girl is now a young adult still with an inoperable brain tumour and very serious health issues but she is now a born-again Christian and is an absolute inspiration to many. God certainly wasn't ready to take her at the time we were told that.

#2. I do recall in one church I attended, a fine Christian family who had a bright 9 y/o boy in a wheelchair with MD, not expected to live past 13. They had been faithful members, but now they quit coming to church. I ran into the mom one day and she confided that they stayed away to protect the son. Every Sunday people gathered around the child to pray. He would get excited each time, confident he would be healed ..but he only got worse. She could not bear to see his disappointment time after time.

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans i have for you, declares the Lord, Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future."
God would not act contrary to his word. This pastors wife either doesn't know scripture or doesn't know God's character.
---Tsuanne on 5/24/06

This pastor's wife as well as us all need to seek God's will in each situation. I work with a boy with a brain tumor and until the Holy Spirit tells me otherwise i pray for his healing. I think this pastor's wife spoke from presumption not wisdom.
---Ann on 5/24/06

#1 Even if the Pastor's wife believed that God was going to allow the child to die, she should have kept her mouth SHUT. What good could possibly come by telling anyone. If God wanted to take her home, He would, even if people were praying. I would never deprive someone of hope. Nor would I deprive anyone of an opportunity to reach out to this child and the child's family, in any loving way (including prayer).

Matthew 8 is Jesus healing all that came to Him. Verse 17 "That it might be fulfilled that was spoken by Isiaas saying "Himself took our intirmities and bare our sicknesses." As Jesus took our sins as He died, he took our sicknesses as he was beat. One as powerful and valid as the other. Our job is to believe and confess with our mouths. As God created the world with His words, we create with our words, speaking those things that be not as though they are. Believing and confess.
---Nancy8553 on 5/24/06

I think that's a very ir-responsible thing to say to a congregation.

If you have confirmation of such a thing you STILL shouldn't say it because it would cause people to stop praying and worse yet believing in the power of God.

How does this woman know Satan himself didn't whisper that to her? He does masquerade as an angel of light you know.

The power of life and death is in the tongue, and those that LOVE it will eat the fruit thereof.
slow to speak...?
