You've forgotten the rest of it.
Your prayers are answered contingent upon your forgiveness for all that need forgiving.
The rest of scripture says that if you have any unforgiveness, forgive. THEN AND ONLY THEN, will Our Father answers our prayers.
If you have ought against any, forget seeing answered prayers.

Our prayers go up to Heaven and are a sweet incense for God. They are kept there, on record. Please don't think a single prayer is ever wasted. Jesus promises us at least three times between John 14 and John 15 that whatever we ask in Jesus's name will be done. If we have some sin we are enjoying, though, our prayers are hindered and perhaps blocked completely. If we are worried and lack faith that it will be done, again, how can Jesus perform His Word for us. Repent of unbelief, believe in God, and then pray in Jesus' name. Nothing is impossible with God.

Catherine "clinical depression come on"
Don't say that ... you might bring it on yourself
And then yuo would understand
Your denial of it without any knowledge is an insult to those many faihtful Chrisians (saved & born again) who have suffered this ILLNESS ... for that is what it is, just like chicken pox or malaria.
Ever been there? ... obviously not, & I pray most fervently that you never go there.

clinical depression come on. God gives us a sound mind when we are saved. Satan can not keep God from hearing you or keep you from talking to God, unless you ofcourse allow the devil to do this to you. Which is bowing to the devil. And that is a very stupid thing to do.
---catherine on 7/21/08|
1. It could be a simple temptation of the devil attack your faith.
2. It could be simple clinical depression (though complicated by 1). This can interfere with your spiritual life--I know from experience.
God IS always hearing your prayers, but sometimes He says, "No"--sometimes "Wait"--and sometimes "I have something better for you."
But I know how you feel. I've frequently been there.

Juanita, God hears the prayers of a repentent heart. If He's not answering your prayers, you may be praying for something YOU want, not something according to HIS will. There's a big difference there. THY Kingdom come, THY WILL BE DONE. NOT MY WILL. He works ALL things after the counsel of His will. Your prayers should line up with His will for your life. Amen?
---Donna9759 on 8/26/07|
Not only does GOD hear your prayers, he knows the numbers of hairs on your head, the tears you cry. Sometimes he says No. Sometimes, if your prayers don't get past the ceiling you need to look at your motives. Sometimes, Satan's forces do battle to delay the answer. Ask GOD to show you want he wants for your life. Let his desire for you become your desire for yourself.

Donna, please accept my apology for constructing my words poorly. I do not believe and did not intend to intimate that God is our own personal genie. I do, however, believe that because His desires become our desires, in the Spirit we pray for nothing useless (which is equivalent to WIVV saying the Spirit "puts a correct twist" on our prayers). In that respect I apply Matthew 21:22. And ALL things, WHATSOEVER ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
---Loree on 6/6/06|
Loree, so what part am I incorrect? Are you saying God answers prayers according to our wishes and our desires? Let's not mislead God's children, amen? That's not what the word says. He gives us the desires of our heart when we delight ourselves in Him, and when that TRULY happens, His desires become our desires. Either way, it's HIS WILL that is executed upon our lives. You can pray for something till the cows come home and if it's not God's will, you won't get it. Just ask Father yourself.

Sometimes we might struggle at prayer in the spirit and putting on faith.
That's what the Bible talks about; it speaks of "putting off sin (unbelief) that so easily besets us."
God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble; change position get on your knees and cry out for the God who does hear you, and NEVER let the devil teach you that the ceiling can stop your prayers.
Sometimes when I'm really struggling I'll say over and over 'God hears me' until it's set in me.

According to the Bible, God always hear's our prayers - in fact, the Holy Spirit gives our prayers the correct "twist". The downside is we may not always like the answer. God answers prayers in three ways: No! Wait! or Yes! If it's not "yes", we are prone to think God doesn't hear our prayers. Of course, you might examine yourself to see if you are NOT doing anything that might hinder God giving you a "Yes" answer. If you aren't, don't worry about it - God hears!
---WIVV on 6/5/06|
Juanita, Donna is partially correct in her response. God does answer our prayers according to His will and in His time. Matthew 21:22 tells us "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Have patience, dear friend. He hears you and He loves you.
---Loree on 6/5/06|
When you pray don't expect to feel like it's been answered. The bible says that the eye of the Lord is upon the righteous and His ears are open unto their prayers.(1Peter 3:12) His will is His word. So when you pray speak His word back to Him.(IJohn 5:14-16)

Because there's a demon who whispers to you that it is so. It's the same one that was sent to me when I returned to church after being away for weeks...(I almost turned the car around until I could see what I was doing through Heaven's eyes.)
Oh child that you would recieve from on high fresh mana. Even now the Lord's heart is inclined to listen, and all of Heaven watches as you kneel down...Do you see it?
---Pharisee on 6/5/06|
As Job said, "I know that my Redeemer lives."
And THAT is the objective truth. Not our feelings.
Ever read Screwtape Letters? The author points out that the devil is never so frightened as when someone who has NO subjective feelings that God is hearing his/her prayers yet STILL intends to obey Him and walk by faith.
