Never anything really unusual but many shameful and disgraceful things. Many ungodly and unfriendly attitudes by the congregation and leaders. Especially pastors. This disturbs me more than unusual things.

It's amazing the abuses that many leaders in any church have's called power ...some have let it go to their heads they will hunt down 15yo boys to make them give back tapes ...obviously the ministers are so concerned about the cha-ching every week then the rage they feel when their hoaxes are exposed's sad all over america there are many children who have had to seek "help" from the abuses experienced at church ..both emotional and physical

I find it highly unusual, that after 20 years, you're still telling the same old stories, using them as a crutch to be in unforgiveness towards whatever happened back wherever it was. I don't imagine we'll ever know what really happened, but I think it's left some emotional scars that have probably affected the way you look at everything and everyone. If not, this would have been over a long time ago.

Sounds like from what you said about the pastor. She was doing the right thing to leave this church.

When a Pastor used the pulpit to preach against a sister in the Lord who was leaving the church after 3 years to go to another church where the Lord was leading her. For 45 minutes all we heard was "this sister in the Lord is betraying us church, she's leaving us, saying the heck with us." Blah, blah, blah. That shocked and stunned me so badly, it took me a year to recover from the wounds he caused from the pulpit. Is that unusual enough or does this happen alot in churches? Just curious.

Mike you don't make fun of things you don't understand we have stayed at church untill 11 or longer but people were still praying what are you going to do turn the light off and leave them still praying because that might just be there last night on earth

One night in service, me and 3 other girls were behind the pulpit singing. God was in the house, you could cut his spirit like a knife. People were dancing in the spirit, shouting, people fell out in the spirit, then Pastor started speaking in tongues and a woman got up and inturpted what was said. It was so amazing because it was in the same voice tone. The word that was given was for me, and told me that God will never leave me nor forsake me. My mom had just died a week before, so I was battling.

Years ago, I went to an old fashion tent revivel R.W. Shambach was preaching. Across the isle was a little old lady who had to be at least in her 90s. She started running back and forth in the isle and just stopped and started jumping up and down. No lie! That old woman (no taller than 5 feet herself) had a vertical leap no less than 4 feet high. And continued that for at least 15 minutes. Most athletic feat I've ever seen!

The man wasn't indecent because it was not grossly unseemly or offensive to the congregation. Unusual, yes, but God can move in mysterous ways according to what people believe Him for. Out-of-order? No,because there wasn't confussion which needed straightening out. People, childlike, trusted God to run the service and gave time to let Him do it. People sometimes had church until 2 oclock in the morning. Strange? Perhaps but no evil spirit there, it was joy in the Lord, praising, and rejoicing.

Cont. ..when I took my sick son out of the service (even though we sat by the door and moved as quietly as was humanly possible). These did not happen all in one service but I'm sure you get the message as to what a 'happy' place it was to be every Sunday. He lost about two thirds of his congregation (my family included) over a few years of this behaviour and is now, thankfully, retired.

I would not describe my former pastor's behaviour as strange, it was 100% rude. He shouted at a lady who was yawning, made a little boy cry by telling him to stop reading his book and to listen instead (the mother had brought the book so that he would be quiet) told a teenage boy and girl off publicly for holding hands whilst singing a hymn, shouted at me "You are really disturbing me, I cannot concentrate".. cont.

The only time I recall the Apostle Paul mentions anyone in the negative way was two leaders who would not allow travelling evangelists to preach to their flocks, apparently because they were afraid their orthodoxy may be challenged.

Was this a regular thing the pastor did, or was it a one time thing? Pastors are human, just as we are. But if this is a regular occurance, I agree with the person who said the person who left definitely did the right thing. He may need help, actually.

While on a mission trip to central america I was in a service in Guatemala and a wind blew through the church, a hard wind.

3.conclusion; Somehow the leaders found we were making tapes, they were rabidly enraged. They wanted them tapes, at any cost. My aunt packed my stuff, and she was going to put me on a bus to Ca. They were waiting at the station. Then she tried the amtrack station, they were waiting. Finally at midnight I was on a bus from Knoxville to Ca, with 'some' of the tapes. i have never been back east in 20 years, nor would I dare. Now I think thats unusual.

2. We were told 'not being full of the spirit' we could not understand the pentacostal experience. We at 15 we boys figured we would 'test' the spirits- like Paul said to do. We took small hidden tape recorders to church. We made up stuff, quoting shakespear for the Bible, and making weird noises. We got interpretations. Paul was right. We found out exactly what they were full of, and I still have the tapes after 20 years.

1.As a child in Alabama and TN in the pentacostal church I was sent to they would put sawdust on the floor to brake the fall the 'spirit slain' members. In the summer when humid they would roll around the floor. They looked like breaded chickens. At the end of the service the women would dust themselves off, proclaiming 'the spirit was strong that night.' It was like they were embarrassed. It was all rather Fruedian.

The strangest (and saddest) was when the pastor of the AOG church I attended in Augusta Georgia said that we should "pray that God would kill anyone who doesn't support Israel" When I talked to another church member, he told me that "he is always saying things like that, we just ignore it.." It was time to find a new church.

I have never heard my pastor say anything about anyone else, in or out of the pulpit. What you described about your preacher is the worse thing I ever heard a pastor doing.
---shira on 6/6/06

Helen, if I saw a woman with strange sounds coming out of her mouth while she was on the floor, I would pray for her and get the heck of that church.
---shira on 6/6/06

Dancing in the Spirit? Rolling in the floor making funny sounds? 1 Corinthians 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order. That sounds out of order to me or demon possion.

As a child I was at an old time Pentecostal church with my grandmother, and a man began to dance in the Spirit,he danced to the back of the chuch, eyes closed, and went back to the front of church by dancing/stepping on the backs of the pews, and believe it or not, when he passed me he still had his eyes closed! He didn't miss a pew. Wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it.
---Darlene_1 on 6/6/06

Strangest thing I ever witnessed was the Holy Spirit going on a lady who then went down on the floor in front of her seat and lots of weird sounds came out of her. The pastor said that the Lord was doing something in her. ????
