Does anyone bind and loose these days? According to what Jesus said in Matthew 18:18 or is that out the door and not done much when praying?

Donna the Church was given the authorithy then as it is today.

Yes I do bind and loose. It is a tool Christ gave to the church to use for His glory and the Kingdom of God. It is also a tool of great value to use in spiritual warfare.
These promises are Kingdom promises and do not pass away.
Not to use them is to handi cap myself and the body of Christ.

tom2: Is that what Jesus meant about binding & loosing? (Matt. 18:18-20)

Donna, you can bind demonic forces. Forces that would affect your every thought, your health, anything detremental to your christian walk with jesus.and you can loose the power from above for everything ,if it,s in Gods will.Jesus told us so many things. And after almost every miracle he told the receipant that YOUR FAITH HAS HEALED YOU.FAITH A BIG FACTOR IN BINDING AND LOOSENING.

- Ruben: Given the authority to do what?
- John: What is it you do all the time (re binding & loosing)?
- Pharisee: What's the odds for what?
- Christina: Interesting. Please elaborate.
- Catherine: So, is this just a traditional thing with Catholics?
- Elijah: Jesus seemed to think it was relevant. Why do you think otherwise?

I'm just a guy looking for the right answers. Please help my understanding. :-)

Donna9759: Sorry if I offended you. That wasn't my intent. Please forgive me.

Like being slain in the spirit, I also see this subject as another hot button issue in today's church. Yes, this is a very deep subject & we must seriously address it, from an objectively biblical perspective, in order to truly understand what it means to "bind & loose".

Thanks for asking this very important question!

Let me start over. :-) What do you mean by "bind & loose"?
---Leon on 6/8/06

Anyone, can do nothing, except for the grace of G-d. No matter how "we" percieve things we are limited in many ways. All things are done through the grace of the Lord, right? To bind or let loose is irrelevant, the object of our prayers, G-d will determine all, but listens to prayers, so we lay all at his feet.

Leon, I was trying to get into a deeper subject other than the usual blogs asking if Benny Hinn is a fake, are tongues for today, can I re-marry? But looks like only a few can go that deep. I'm sorry I posted a question like this. I know how POWERFUL binding and loosening is, that's why I brought it up, thought we could all share how we've done it, used it, has it worked, etc., but never mind, just forget it. Making fun with Rev. Herb is not good, this is a serious matter with serious lives involved.

Very funny tongue in cheek Rev_Herb. :-) I also bind & loose my shoes daily.

Lighten up Donna9759 & learn! No one here has all the answers. Only by the leading of the Holy Spirit can any light be objectively shed on the subject.

Let's reason together, not throw stones at each other. Let's ask God for understanding & wisdom regarding His delegating authority to His Church.

Does anyone on this blog know what Jesus meant when he said "bind & loose"? (Matt. 16:13-19 & 18:18)
---Leon on 6/7/06

ruben, the church was given alot of tools, but do we use them? Why or why not?
---Donna9759 on 6/7/06

In the Catholic Church, we call this reconcilliation or confession of our sins.

The authority to bind and loose has been given to priests who have had hands laid on them by a Catholic Bishop. We can trace this back through the generations to the Apostles. Therefore, this continues in the Church today.

Jesus died to set the captives free!!! Yes, we are most definitely supposed to bind and is after all a spiritual battle, not fleshly/natural.
---christina on 6/7/06

Rev Herb, your lack of knowledge regarding what Jesus said about "whatever you bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven shows that you really dont know the word, you only know parts of it, i.e., tongues and you attack those also. Binding and loosening is an important subject to discuss and we should be doing it every day. No wonder why your demons Rev. Herb are running wild.
---Donna9759 on 6/7/06

I believe those words.

All too many times I speak something and see it follow.

I was walking to a 15 mile away destination 7 miles in.

Problem: I didn't know how to get there or even where it was... (Don't ask)

But as soon as I spoke out loud the wind picked up and a piece of stationary with the address phone number + contact name and blew right in front of me.

What's the odds?
---Pharisee on 6/6/06

Yes, we do it all the time. Our enemy is not flesh and blood, it is spiritual. Binding and loosing is a wonderful tool.
