More Door To Door Witnessing

What is wrong with door to door ministring besides talking to people everywhere else? It is in the bible how they did do this, so why aren't more people doing so?

Going door-to-door witnessing does little good if you do not what to say when a person answers the door. I once worked with an evangelist who took the name and address of the people and invited them to a hot dog roast. And anyone who came to the roast he considered saved. Wild story? Yes!But true.

Do strangers really receive another stranger at their front door and receive Christ that easily? Isn't it the Holy Spirit who draws them? Someone plants the seeds, someone waters them, but it's God who draws and causes the growth, amen

People are lazy, We now live in a ME generation. We don't care about the other person.

oh no, not doing something dangerous for the Lord. by the way, in the U.S. this is the EASIEST place to go door to door. if you cant witness HERE, you wont witness anywhere.---------dangerous????????????????

many misunderstood Acts 20:20, But when the entire context is examined, starting in verse 17, the proper meaning can be understood. Paul sent to Ephesus, and called the elders OF THE CHURCH, saying to them, I..have taught you (the elders) publicly, and from house to house. Paul did not go from house to house, teaching whoever answered the door.Paul recieved all that came in unto him, preaching the kingdom of GOD.

It is dangerous to blindly go door to door anymore. Many people do not like having strangers at their door for a good reason, but especially to talk about God. I know when the JWs are out on the street, my family shuts the curtains and doesn't answer the door.

we need to take our focus OFF of witnessing? no wonder this country has gone to the dogs

Is House to house, same as door-to-door? (ACTS 2:47) notice the direction the answers here take,(not me, take our focus off witnessing). Many for an example are really true Christians, however concerning witnessing door-to-door their answer is no. I definitely plan to go this very evening to witness in a public park. Two days ago I was run out of shopping mall for witnessing im parking lot. It was manager of the mall and he said to me, I want my spirit to be right. Strange statement? Yes?

Shari, please you have offended me. My church does not send out novices talking about different things. We are a church who thinks our neighbors need to hear about Jesus and what He has done for them.

People need to take their focus off of witnessing and put it on getting this divided kingdom back into a unity of the faith speaking the same thing and believing the same thing. Once they have a unity of the spirit they need to teach them to endure unto the end. Those sent out in the Bible were faithful men full of the spirit and wisdom. Not a bunch of novices speaking different things. Paul addressed different visions and the like to the Corinthian church.

Jack, I've noticed that is all you do on these boards/blogs, is point out people's errors. You insinuate comments/things before you ask further questions. Since we're only allowed 50 words, we can't tell the whole story, so we ask a questions without giving ALL of the details, and all you've done on here is insinuate like you're the ONLY one who has the TRUTHFUL answer. That is not true at all. Try to stop doing that.

I do not mind witnessing to others even if that meant me gonig door to door. Some chruches have "door to door"hangers where it's an invite. That is great it's a conversation starter ,but instead of just hanging it on the door why not knock &seek them with the bible?
---candice on 6/10/06

Dave, I've noticed that people just on these boards are greaetly offended when their errors are pointed out.

Our church has started a Neighborhood connection ministry. We don't have very many people in the neighborhood attending so the men have been going door to door inviting people to church. They stay long enough to drop off an info packet about our church and it's ministries. It has worked we have been seeing some new faces come in.

Jack I am not aware of a specific reference to door-to-door evangelism. The apostles were told to go into the towns preaching the good news but perhaps they preached in the open and people gathered together to listen. We are told to go into the world and preach the gospel but there are many and varied ways of doing that, door-to-door being one of the ways that many feel called to do.

instead of being offended use this time as opportunity to sharpen up your sharing skills to gently show them where they are in error you never know Yahuweh might just use you to be the one to snatch them away from the flames of hell as the book of jude tells us. personall y i love to ask them in and share the truth with them!

God made us all different and gave us different gifts. Some He equipped to do door-to-door witnessing, some open-air work, some prison visiting, others preaching etc. If we try to do what He has equipped another to do we will not do it well and possibly bring dishonour to Him by making ourselves look foolish and ill-equipped. God's gift to me is not His gift to you so let us all do, to the best of our ability, whatever it is that He has equipped us for.

In earlier times, there was no other way to get the word of God to people but on foot door to door. Now there is a church on every corner, TV, radio, tape, and in books. There has become no need to go out unless you're an evangelist, or visiting minister.
I witness to co workers, and people I meet when I'm out, it's wonderful to share the word of God with others.

Today people frequently consider uninvited people knocking at their door to be an unwanted invasion of their privacy, and might well resent it.

Can you give book, chapter, and verse where it says the early Christians went door to door witnessing?

Acts 2:46 is talking about something entirely different, namely how the first church functioned in the initial stages.

I personally find it very offensive when Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons knock on my door with their "message", so I do not think it appropriate for me to be going door knocking. Salespeople doorknock and I hate that too.

I was part of a bus ministry that involved door to door visitation every week to the bus kids. It was a great experience. Now, I now use friendship evangelism to witness to people. It allows me to get to know people in a more genuine way.
