Get a nice bible with a concordance. Look up all of the words and phrases that talk about encouragement, praising and worshipping God. Look up trials, trubulations phrases that pertain to these type topics. You will learn how to praise God during your bleak days and when you are going through. It is not easy but we must learn to do this or we will fall back and lose our faith walk. You cannot do that under any circumstances. God bless you angel.

who will you believe?job believed God.abraham believed God unto sacrificing his son.BELIEVE God.its tough,it,s actually in many cases beyond your ability.but with God nothing is impossible.
---tom2 on 11/8/07

Not easy. If you and I could only keep in mind, same God in good times as well as hard times. It is true, not only because the Bible saids so, but God said so face to face, "Everything works out for the good".

AMEN Linda! Praise God, his word is true, and powerful, life-giving. Thank you for speaking the Truth into lives here.

2/... When I am at my lowest that is when I trust Jesus to literally carry me through because I have absolutely nothing in myself that can bring about any sort of victory. Jesus has to do that and He does it because He already won the victory on the Cross. When I am weak then I am strong in Christ.
---Helen_5378 on 7/16/06

I have faith that the Lord Jesus will bring me through every difficult time I go through simply because He always has and He never changes, so He is not about to change and let me down. He won the victory over everything on the Cross. I do find in the extremely bad times that it helps to verbalise my faith to God.

"If people just stop to think how great they have it now compared to someone else that is poor, sick, without sight, or without limps."

If looking at those who look less fortunate than you is what causes you to realize your blessings, then how are you going to realize them if those people suddenly become rich, healed, with sight, and able to walk? We are to look at Jesus and know how blessed we are. He is without any of those infirmities and we are joint-heirs with Him.

Wonderful answer Rev-Herb. I think you hit the point. If people just stop to think how great they have it now compared to someone else that is poor, sick, without sight, or without limps. We're blessed by the grace of God in one way or another no matter what we have. No one said it was going to be easy. There is some that witness to others and tell them everything is going to be great and they believe it. accually, things become harder as a Christian but we have the Spirit to help us get through.

Hab 3:19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

Isa 40:29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Isa 40:30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
---Linda6563 on 7/16/06

To "wait" means to "entangle yourself"; kind of like a rope tangles itself around a steel cable pulling a load. The steel cable is the weight bearing part while the rope is just along for the ride. It also means to "minister to".

Isa 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
---Linda6563 on 7/16/06

"We will run and not grow weary;
We will walk and will not faint.
For the Lord will go before us,
and His joy will be our strength.
Mounting up with wings as eagles,
as our spirits start to soar.
When we come into His presence,
as we wait upon the Lord.

We will wait upon the Lord
For in His presence is fullness of joy
And our strength will be restored
As we wait upon the Lord."

I praise God. Ever since I found out about
Psalm 22:3. But Thou art Holy, O Thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

God inhabits the praises of Israel. I am a Christian who is blessed to be grafted into God's chosen ones. I know that He inhabits the praises of His people. When I need Him, I try to redirect my thoughts to praise.

Taphros, could you be suffering from clinical depression?

If you are, treatments exist (medical and other).

Don't let anybody condemn you. Clinical depression is a PHYSICAL DISEASE. It's a chemical imbalance, not a spiritual failing or character flaw.

you trust God that He's working things out for YOUR good. Study the the Pslams, and let someone teach you the word of God, fill yourself up with Spirit and Life.

I have been in many deep dark valleys during especially the last 2 1/2 years. There were times when it was so bad I couldn't even think. I would come to the computer and sit with tears streaming and say 'help can somebody pray for me'. Then I slowly learned that, for me, to say out loud "Father I trust You in Jesus' name" helped me enormously. Verbalising it helped me big time to believe it.

Part 2:

Taphros, I've said it before and I'll say it again here. C. S. Lewis said that the devil is never more frightened than when a Christian looks out at a landscape where every sign of God's presence and action is gone, asks why he has been abandoned, and STILL intends to obey Him and believe.

God bless you. The light is coming.
---Jack on 6/13/06

Taphros, I understand well what you're talking about.

But faith is based on what you KNOW to be true, though cannot prove, even though it's not believing without a reason. It's believing despite circumstances, because you KNOW God is trustworthy.

Jesus never promised life would be a bed of roses. In fact he says we will suffer. Read Job and see what he did. And you think you have problems.

I had no shoes, and I conplained till I met a man who had no feet.

It is hard to keep the faith when troule comes. But without faith it is impossible to please God. God won't put anything upon a person that they can't handle. The bible says if we have faith as small a mustard seed. Mustard sees is no bigger than a grain of sand. Read the book of James, it explains alot on faith and how to keep the faith.
---Rebecca_D on 6/13/06

Set yourself apart from the world for a while and pray and read the scriptures while you pray...mortify your flesh and make it cry out through it's denial of simple pleasures and the spirit will abound.

Hard times don't have to be that hard.
Do that which you did when your salvation began, and even momentarily you'll be saved.
