Going to church does not make one a Christian. But it does strengthen your relationship with the Lord and with others in the church. We are to worship and fellowship with other believers. This is good for us. The devil goes to church every day of the week, and is certainly no Christian.

You have to attend church to become a Christian as many times as you have to attend a garage to become a car! Church attendance does not equal conversion.
---Steve on 5/15/08

Iti s not the church itself that makes you a christian, it is how you follow God. YOU youself make descisions everyday, your congr is there to help support you & teach you (I hope) to stay in lnie with Gods word. If they donot then they are not a good structured backbone for your spiritual growth.

The Church is a people, not a building you come into. However, I understand what you are asking and the answer is none. You are called a Christian when you confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead.

Going to church does NOT make you a Christian, just like standing in a garage does not make you a car. Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior is the ONLY thing that makes you a Christian.

attend??? sorta like a wedding reception??or attend a ballgame,or the like. attend , to be present at a function. possibly you should consider going to church and worship God,participate would be a better word to describe what to do in church. and spiritual participation would be best.

Church attendance will never make you a Christian even if you attend every service offered for the whole of your life. Accepting Jesus as the one who paid the price for your sins and loving Him for doing so makes you a Christian. Once a Christian continuing to attend church does not keep you a Christian, you are one and will remain one even if something happens which prevents you ever attending a church again.

Many post here make reference to the church building being the "house of God". That of course is incorrect. Any Christian is the "house of God" today. Because of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in that Christian.

Rebecca, A-men, I agree. Although a person is more likely to find God inside of a church, where God's shekinah glory presence dwells, and where a person is surrounded by people who are worshipping and praying and singing to him and hearing his words preached, rather than find him somewhere else like a bar room or staying home watching a ball game on TV.

2. And are you saying that just because PAUL said it and Jesus didn't, that we can ignore it? Do you realize that is one of the things that homeosexual 'churches' claim?! You are probably against church because like so many others, you've got a problem with authority. You people are something else! You throw out most of the Bible because it doesn't conform to YOUR lifestyle, then you turn around and start yelling "SHOW ME THE SCRIPTURE!" when your flesh doesnt like what's been said

I did NOT say going to church makes you a Christian. You are twisting my words. I SAID, IF one IS a Christian, they will not have to force themselves to be in the house of God. It is such common sense! No one had to FORCE my husband to come to MY house every night when we were dating. If so, I would have seriously doubted his love for me. If you love God, you naturally want to be in HIS house- for a whole slew of reasons!- shall I name them???

T.S., Show the scripture that commands church attendance in the New Testament. I recall Paul saying not to forsake the gathering together as some do, but it was not a commandment. What did JESUS say in order to attain heaven? Read.

Well you can go to church until the day you die, that won't make you a Chrisitan. A person has to be convicted of their sins, ask God to forgive them and invite him into their heart, then and only then can you call yourself a true Christian, Going to church for a period of time won't make anyone a christian in God's eyes. If that is all it takes by just going to church, then I'm doing it all wrong.
---Rebecca_D on 6/16/06

If one HAS to FORCE himself to attend church, he is NOT a Christian. Being part of a local body of believers is commanded in the Word of God, and if you love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind, you will WANT to be in His house, as much as you can. He said "If you love me, keep my commandments"
---T.S. on 6/15/06

Actually I do the exact opposite. I attend church because I,am a christian.friend church don,t make you a christian , belief in jesus, who he was, why he came , and that he rose from the dead.Thats what makes you a christian.
---tom2 on 6/15/06

going to church does not make a Christian, no more than sitting in a garage makes a car, nor having college degrees does not make one rational or to possess common-sense.

Jesus paid it all, All to him I owe;

Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.

Friend pray to recieve Jesus Christ, to have your sin placed on him in the hour of his death, that you might recieve his righteousness, but don't cry for him, all the more to his GLORY that you saw who he was by what he Did. Wail for your sin friend, Jesus will save you if you believe.

A building is not the church. The saved are the church. It is good to come together in worship, but Christ built a living breathing church! He lives inside of us, not any building made by man.
---Rebecca_S. on 6/14/06

Christians are just people who have accepted Jesus CHRIST as their Lord and Savior. The thief on the cross who Jesus said would be in paradise with Him that very someone I would call a Christian. He never went to church.
---amy on 6/14/06

I never have to attend church to be called a Christian. I am a born-again Christian simply because I believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for my sins and rose from the dead. My salvation is 100% in Christ and His finished work on the Cross.

Going to church no more makes you a Christian than going to McDonald's makes you a hamburger! Going to church is part of the Christian life, but being a Christian is dependent on asking Jesus to be your savior, and then living like Jesus, obeying the commandments of God!
